I agree, if you have decent internet speed and unlimited, kodi is a better option ( though most of the addons like genesis, and co are illegal).. Kodi on android box is a movie buffs dream..

Most Netflix films are boring B movies with c list actors, you are better off with showbox, Tv portal or movie HD on an android TV box..
I dont really Genesis is illegal because i can use with my school WiFi but d same wifi doesnt support Torrent because its illegal...I have showbox also but I only use offline

For u to enjoy Netflix, subscribe to data that has no cap. (Unlimited). You can chek www.wifi.com.ng. It cos only about 9k a month and u have American ip to browse and watch any iptv. It's quite fast and low downtime. Thank me later.

These Nigerian ISP's are not being creative, since knowing netflix is coming to nigeria, and they know international data rate is expensive to them. Why not ask netflix to provide a CDN (Content Distribution Network) in Nigeria on their network!? Common Sense

1. All netflix content will be CACHED in Nigeria (Anyone from Nigeria accessing Netflix will get local content) cheaper for ISP, makes it easier to offer a cheaper netflix streaming data package.
2. Netflix wins, as more Nigerians can now watch it without dying of gbese!

CDN does not provide the internet to access the content ISPs do. CDN only makes the the servers from which Netflix content loads closer to its users

I don't think Netflix can stream in 1080p in Nigeria. It has to go through some approvals and only a few devices can stream in 1080p not to talk of 2k and 4k.

Wrong. If your internet is fast enough, you can even stream 4K in Nigeria. I used to work for a private firm that had 50Mb/s unlimited internet. They had a direct connection to main one cable. I have friends who still work there and stream 4K videos regularly. However since they dont have 4K devices, they stick with 1080p.

Signed for Netflix 3 days ago. Myself and Wifey watched 7 HD Movies, 1 Documentary, and 3 Episodes of a Series. Just within 3 days it has exhausted 60GB of Data from Swift that costs 25k. So I have decided to get rid of Netflix for now.

Nigeria is not Ripe for Netflix until our ISPs begin to Offer Fast and Unlimited Internet Subscription. DSTV appears to be the only Reasonably Priced option for now.
we have unlimited Internet on mtn hynet. Where is ur location.

Youtube, Netflix take a lot of data.

And online gaming too.

Madam 720p or even 1080p movies can't consume that sort of data sef.
He was watching 2k probably and feeling funky grin

Wrong. I live in the US with unlimited internet and I can confidently tell you his analysis is correct. On 720p, a one hour video will cost you at least 2.6GB. HD (1080p upwards) which is twice the size of 720p, consumes even more data. Meaning a 2hr full HD movie would consume more than 8Gb of data.

If you doubt me, I will post screenshots to confirm his statement.

When the Netflix in Nigeria announcment was made, my initial reaction was "which data are you gonna watch movies with"?

Until fast affordable internet is made, massive full scale streaming video in Nigeria is but a pipe dream.

P.s: in most advanced countries, internet is delivered to most homes via copper cables, fibre optics and telephone lines. Meaning a hard line directly connected to the ISP's. I know you have heard wifi is everywhere in the us. Thing is, the Wifi only serves as a means of connecting users to these hard lines. So the bulk of most internet acces actually go through these hard lines. GSM and wimax networks are seriously discouraged and rarely used for internet access here. The reverse is the case in Nigeria. Almost all our internet is wireless. For internet access, wireless is inefficient and expensive. If Nitel had built phone lines to every home in Nigeria we would have fast affordable internet right now.

Just check on YouTube. There are free tutorials that show you how to install Kodi on your android phone, pc or stick. If u can't do it yourself you can enlist a friend who's more tech savvy. I
Use the Kodi app on my amazon fire stick and its better value than Netflix even if Netflix were 99 cents a month. As someone said already, u have access to everything watchable on the planet at almost zero cost to u (virtually everally US and european major cable channel in the world -- eg. u wont see supersports and mnet, but ud c fox movies and sky sports/bein/ESPN etc, u get the gist.. Its movie catalogue puts hulu, netflix and all other streaming companies combined to shame..and yup Kodi has the best po.rn.).

lmao!!! cheesy

You no know before? angry

HD movies are like 1.5/2GB per hour, now let's say you watched each movie for like 2 hours.

That's 2GB X 2 =4GB

>> 4GB X 7 = 28GB angry

>> 1 Documentary *Coughs* Let's say that one was like 2GB undecided

>> 3 Episodes of a Series.

Each Episode is about 40 minutes. Let's say Each Episode consumed 1GB

1GB X 3 =3GB

Oya 28GB + 2GB +3GB = 33GB

And If you're not rewinding while streaming it ought to require less bandwidth depending on the protocol you use though.

This is just an estimate though

Now where's the remaining 20+GB? Either you used it for other things or ya lying angry angry

Btw, pay me for my analysis. Tanchu! undecided

Flawed analysis. Technically to watch a movie of size say, 700 MB might require you to part with roughly another 100 MB. For your information, streaming contains a lot of error bits/bytes, as well as control packets. Streaming is the same as downloading except that your application plays your data almost instantaneously. Error is almost not permissible here. ..

[quote author=ipledge10 post=41860524]This a way for some company to make money, but no Rich men in Africa dont think...All they are after is illegal money...so many people can make somey now if they start providing unlimited data at a cheaper rate let us...unlimited wifi 200Mb/s at #20,000 monthly 300Mb/s at #25000 monthly and so on...mehn see money.

Unlimited WiFi has no capacity but is measured by speed: 1mb = 1000kbs. In order to stream content in 1080p from Netflix conveniently, you'd require a bandwidth of 10Mb/s and above. 4K content require 25Mb/s and higher.

Lol 7HD movies and you expect it to be 3GB? The higher the video quality the more data consumed. Change your Netflix player settings to low quality. It's still better.

pahh..forget netflix...netflix is not doing well in america, thats why the came to nigeria to steahl a bit money from gullible western-style orienteted nigerians...they know exactly that nigeria is in no way capable of streaming because broadband was never built....

when it was not obasanjo, you wouldnt even have this 3gp,4gp,and whatever...

at the end,you will only end up paying 5 to 7times more for the same product than in america...

very lucrative for netflix,but for you,its a financial-disaster....

stop trying to have western-things in nigeria...you will easyly end up paying 10times more...and dont forget,,you can not pay in nairas...

you loose,and nigeria loose too.....

btw....1 film with average quality need 700mb....lowest quality will still need around 700mb/film....nigeria need to first build its fiber-line out,,,no chance to enjoy neflix in nigeria like in america....

Dagunro movies on netflix. Remember its not irokotv. Its an international streaming company that bases her resolution on international standard. Originally Nigerian movies aren't 720p from the studio talkless of watching it at 720p on a streaming site. I think the best u can go for now is this Airtel and etisalat Netflix bundle.

CAUTION!!! don't watch Netflix with your data. Too deadly to behold

Chai jisos naija sha. See sb ranting about 60GB embarassed Some people virtually live on YouTube and Netflix no shaking. The issue is lack of broadband backbone.

Why should you keep a movie permanently on disk when you can always stream it from putlocker?

Dstv is just useless, it's easier for them to just be ISP and save folks from this Internet wahala.

we could bypass this problem by streaming to each other in the area...when someone has a film,he can stream the film to 100 or more people that are near to him,by turning his wlan to a hotspot...this strategie needs more cooperation between people in a area...

this data-bandits would be cut off,and forced to upgrade the broadband in nigeria....
