The military is his constituency. He has no social life, no allies outside the military and the old elite families. By elite I dont mean new elite, old old elite families. The original elite families. Great grand children and nephews of Dan fodio, balewa, ahmadu bello, etc. So his appointments will always be centred on those related to those old acquaintances. That has always been his style. Competence has never been a criterion for him, that is why a southerner without military background can rarely be found in a sensitive post in his administrations.

Be concerned about the drug baron/chemist/pharmacist that sold the tramadol to the 'innocent' tramadol consumer without prescription.It is that small Chemist owner in Kano that's the baron.It is that Chemist owner that sells tramadol that NDLEA should be bothered about.Those are the killers not the addicts.

If they do not do well....if the new NDLEA chairman allows us to fall back to being a major drug transit point like we were in the 1980's(before the NDLEA was set up)...or if the rates of drug use go up in the youth, or if Indian hemp cultivation skyrockets....then we can call him a failure....and call for his sack.

In this case there is no supplier but the people themselves cook up this substances in there streets and consume.... The supplier is now same as the consumer.

I agree with you that those cooked up substances are very dangerous but how do you tackle those low level set of barons and consumers?We leave those ones to the families and community leaders to handle .But the high profile ones should be handled at NDLEA level,the celebrity drugs like cocaine that the barons enrich themselves with,the market/network for these celebrity drugs is wide.Proceeds from there sponsor terrorism,prostitution,human trafficking.Even the low profile ones like tramadol can be handled at National level.My point again is that NDLEA should be more concerned with the high profile baron who distributes cocaine nationally and internationally than the baron who mixes shi.t,gum or licks the skin of a toad to make himself high.Why blame the 'innocent' sick addict who requires treatment and not imprisonment.

Sometimes I feel sad at the way people look at governance. it is not easy my brother...... Nigeria is still lacking in basic areas and we are more concerned about the appointees regions/areas.

The focus should be on who can get the job done quickly and professionally...when there is a clear road map with a lot of established and well known candidates.....positions can then be rotated freely.

For strategic positions like this where the onus is on you.....the preferred candidate is mostly who you can trust personally. You may do the same if in the same situation.

Let's encourage the new NDLEA boss, cause his success is for all Nigerians.
