Greetings my VO. Pls I want to ask u this question. If my B1B2 visa expires on March 30, 2016, when is the maximum time I can travel to the US ? In other words, with my visit visa expiring on the 30th of March, 2016, can I still use the same visa to travel and depart Nigeria on the 25th of March, 2016, ( 5 days before the visa expires ), and if yes, on my arrival at the POE, will I still likely be given 6 months at the POE ?
Secondly, can someone visits the US twice in the space of 3 months apart, and spending like 10 days each on each visit ?
Thanks

Hello tobithedancer,

You can enter the United States at any time before your visa expires.

Hello VO,

Am not sure if this is the right thread for this. However please say something cus I believe you.

My wife is a US legal permanent resident and wants to file for her citizenship but she will like to know if she's on the right track.

1. She got into the US after her father filed foe the whole family in April 2010, but during her first year (2010-2011) she mostly travel back to Nigeria bcus of her undergraduate program though during every break she goes back to the US.

2. In 2012 she was not in the US from July 2012-June 2013 because of her compulsory service in Nigeria called Nigeria Youth Service Corps.

3. She returned back to the US in June 2013 and had been around working, paying tax and other duties since then.

My question is this, can she go ahead to file for her citizenship considering she got in April 2010 and it's now 2016. This makes it 6years in general and it's in accordance to the required duration of years (5years) for a LPR to file for citizenship. Please note that all other require are met.

Best Regards.

Hello NIV Team,

I was on an L2 visa in the US in 2011 but got an H1B petition approved while in the US in October 2012 so I never got it stamped. I then left the US in July 2013. I just had my former employer in the US offer me a job again with the intention of revalidating the H1B status I was granted in 2012.
Kindly advise of all the support documents I would need for the H1B visa stamp in Nigeria asides from the I-797 petition appoval.

Good day VO. My husband and I as well as our daughter were issued a B1/B2 visa for 2 years. We want to renew the visa which expired last year through drop box, but l gave birth after we got the visa and the baby will not be qualified for drop box according to the guidelines? Please my question is do we apply through drop box while we go for a separate visa for the baby? Or do we all appear for a fresh B1B2 visa? Thanks

Dear VO,
Please going from what you said earlier on, how true is the above bolded? Can one legally send a child that is below 3yrs to a daycare (play group) on a b1/b2 visit visa?

Hello danowena,

Daycare is the equivalent of hiring someone to babysit your child while you go out for the night. It is not education and does not require a special visa as such. Education including and beyond kindergarten (whether public or private), however, is not allowed on a B1/B2 visa.

Hello walmart,

Your family can apply via dropbox but your baby will need to apply in person. You, of course, can accompany the baby to the interview. You are also welcome to apply together in person if that is more convenient.

Hello,
Please I have some questions to ask concerning US F-1 visa. I recently applied for an F-1 visa in us consulate in lagos,NG on the 17th of december 2015 where i got rejected under section 214(b). The consular only asked me if i was a student which i replied, then asked me why i chose houston,TX, i replied and lastly asked me if i have any relative in the US, i said NO and he said i am not eligible for a US visa. Although there is a guy who happens to be my mothers cousin who studies in chicago,IL for 3 years now. But i don't know if he is in the US anymore, i don't have his number nor do we have thesame surnames. That was why i filled NO in my Ds-160. Secondly is there is a man who happens to be my fathers friend who is now a us citizen, he helped me to pay my sevis fee in the US because of CBN's western union restrictions. Could it be that i was rejected because of my fathers friend? Because he travelled to the US and never returned. Now i want to fill a new ds-160 form, would it be advisable to include the man as a relative and as well my moms cousin? And also is it advisable to go for a new interview 3months before my program start date? Lastly, i am having problem with my travel history, i have visited benin republic, united arab emirates, Qatar, ethiopia, Egypt and china where i lived for a year and a half. The problem is that benin republic that i visited for 7days, i didn't use any document to enter there, i used the border in lagos where i told the officials there that i was going there to do something and i will be back and settled them which they allowed me to go. Is it advisable to fill benin republic in my travel history still even though there is no stamp of proof in my 2passports that i visited there?

Best Regards

Hello,
Good day and see below my concerns.
I live and work in Nigeria while I'm dating a US citizen resident in the US.
She was in Nigeria during the Christmas break for 2 weeks and I was her host.
We intend to get married in December 2016 and I want to travel to the US this summer to see her parents and declare my intentions for their daughter.
I intend to spend just 3 weeks.
My questions are :
1. What type of visa do I need? A K1 or a B1?
2. If a K1, what will be the resulting outcome if we don't get married on my visit? (In as much as she's my fiancée, we don't intend to get married in my first visit)

Hello Rahmeek,

Firstly, I would advise you NOT to reapply unless something in your situation has changed. You were informed that you did not qualify for the visa. If everything remains the same, so will the outcome of any additional applications.

Secondly, there are many reasons why someone could be refused a visa. Having friends or contacts who violate their visas reflects poorly on you as a candidate.

Thirdly, put all travel in your application.

Hello kkesh,

The answer for both questions is that you should only get a K1 if you intend to get married within 90 days. If you are just going to visit and WILL NOT get married, a B1/B2 would be appropriate.

Hello blue 355,

There is no formal process for changing your intent. You are expected to be honest and transparent during your interview. If your intent changes, it might be result in difficulties at the border or in renewing your visa.

Dear VO,
Our B1/B2 (my wife and I) would expire in August 2016. We are both qualified for dropbox. We plan to apply for renewal in June this year as I am planing to attend a conference in Atlanta this November in which she will be accompany me. However, she now has British passport issued to her last August. My question is can she travel with me using her British passport without a visa. Will she have problem at POE having entered the US previously as a Nigerian. Does she need to complete any documentation prior to arrival in the US. Would you advise that she also renew her B1/B2 visa in spite of her British passport.

Hello,
Could it also be that he decided to deny me the Visa because i was scared and nervous when answering his questions? Although to the best of my knowledge i answered him with accurate answers just that i was nervous, it is my nature since i was little, i am always scared to answer questions in class or public places and lastly, you didn't answer my question about attending an interview 3 months before my program start date, is it possible? If "yes" can i go with my sponsors bank statement from may 2015 - december 2015 for an interview scheduled for febuary 2016? Or do i need to get a new statement? Or go with his pay slips

Hello,
My good people,
I intend traveling to US by February on a business trip(yet to apply for a visa). I run a commercial transport company with just 18 American buses - Chevrolet Express and Ford E series. Some of these buses are becoming unfit for passengers safety, so the need to travel to the US to buy and replace 6 among them.
In 2008, I was issued 3 Shengen Visas and i used 2 to visit some shegen countries.
*Please i want to know if the previous visas amounts to anything since there were not issued within the last 5 years and are on a different passport.
*Will it make sense if I inform the vo that apart from running a transport business that i am a Publisher of a monthly magazine, since my purpose of traveling to US is to buy buses for my fleet?

Pls, I am married and we have a lovely daughter.
Thank you all for the good work you are doing here.
God bless.
