Now if you believe we got the uniqueness of earth - its propensity to support and sustain life -through serendipity then the demise of this planet would automatically mean the nascence of the existence of the universe was a pointless event . Energy was useless , matter was useless , intelligence was useless . Everything is useless .

On this note, I would say I agree to the fact that everything is useless to the best of present human understanding..or as George Carlin would say, maybe the universe needed plastic and it was incapable of spawning it, so we had to come around and invent plastic. kepler planet hunters who are the best at discovering exoplanets havent even gotten close to a billion discoveries, and from the very few they have seen some of them are very strange based on what we experience from this part of the universe

Superstition is so firmly rooted in the Nigerian culture that there is no respite in sight, 50 years from now nothing will change.

So, my point is the article talks about modelling 700milion billion planets and assuming based on our knowledge of the universe that the earth is unique...whereas this is a poor scientific method....now based on their ASSUMPTIONS their result is accurate, but do you expect the scientific community to accept their result as FACT?
