thanks for this, i have argued with a so called installer over this issue of luminous low charging current, he insisted my FLA battery is inferior or bad due to the system unable to charge the battery. i went on proving it with a DC clamp meter yet he wasn't convinced. Richmond74 kudos again
richmon74:

Theres is no way you can talk about Luminous when you are talking about flooded battery.
First of all it charges battery at 16amps and secondly it can't disulphide (equalize). So among the two PRAG might be your only choice.

PRAG offers you battery type selections which keeps your charging as close as possible to the battery manufactures specs and also gives you the DOD switch which is a great feature for renewable energy battery maintenance. I wrote about this in details in my last review of PRAG inverters.

@richmon, thanks for the info.
nolonger a big fan of lumious,,..

1. it doesnt display batt life/status.
2. it ruined the negative batt of 2 24v setups i hv
3. doesnt desulphize/desulphate.......

though i was thinking the 3.5kva 48v system wud hv beta charging algorithm/current than the 1500kva.

so am gonna settle for prag 4kva 24v as u adviced.
whats the minimum size of cable for the inverter ac input/feeder...i mean prag 4kva, wud 4mm be ok?, conflicting views on the internet....intend to put a 50amp breaker too

saw the green prag 130k on jumia, while the blue one was 175k,....wondering at the discrepancy.......guess old stock or something

Well you need to check up with jumia again. I bet you they can't sell it for 130 because they don't even buy it for that price. The colours doesn't make any difference as I told you before. We are the cheapest reseller of PRAG product. We're the only one that can give you PRAG 4kVA 24V/48V H for 136k. The inverter comes with Standard Battery Cable and AC IN/OUT wires so you don't have to bother yourself with the cable sizings.

If you are interested contact us it and for any other PRAG products you see on www.buyright.com.
We also offer professional advice on product selections and installation as additional benefits.

Please, All the Professionals in the house, come to my aid... I just got delivery of a 5kva transformerless inverter from UK but im confused as to the installation and grounding required for the solar panel array and the inverter. (I even read somewhere that the +ve terminal of battery should be grounded). I know that most of my "Oga's" here have dealt with transformerless inverters, Please help me with the knowledge to install this piece. Thanks in advance. @richmon74, kiekie1, earthrealm, chris81964, tnycee

Ive attached a photo to show what the inverter looks like.

The inverter is manufactured by Voltronic Power. Different people sell it under different names. Ground the PV. Ground your combiner. I would not do a positive ground of the batteries. I have instructed my people to do negative grounding. Visit the company s website. They have a manual on their page.
They are pretty OK inverters. I run separate charge controllers. The 5 Kva is more finicky.
Good luck

It is always an argument btw UK and US on which battery polarity to ground. UK says +ve and US says -ve. But for your safety, do not ground any. Do the standard earthing of the AC line n chassis. They are very durable inverters to my surprise. I've installed a couple of them in both residential and commercial environments and they are still working great.

Thank you very much for your response sir... One more question please...
can I loop the AC and chassis ground together or should the chassis have and solar array have a separate grounding?? Thanks in advance for your response smiley

anybody using must power inverter?...any pros n cons?
does it have a bypass switch like luminous..
how rliable?
does it display enough info like batt life, soc on the screen?
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Optimixim(m): 9:03am On Mar 09, 2016
yes you can, there is what we call TNC system of earthing and this is the type you need do for your system and it is very effective for inverters and solar system. i have done that on the product and will recommend you do same. battery terminal grounding is best when the voltage is very high like 360v in some 20kva inverters. follow richmond74 and chris81964

I hope you all had a phenomenal week. Permit me to share a wonderful four weeks with you.

Three weeks ago we were recognized as one the top solar installers in Nigeria by Schneider Electric and invited to participate in a round table in Lagos.

On February 29 Smallstarter.com recognized as one of the top 11 solar companies lighting upAfrica.

Last week the US consulate in Lagos invited us and will give us an opportunity to bid on providing solar power to the ambassador's residence. The trade desk got us an introduction to the Ex Im Bank who will finance equipment purchased in the US.

This week I got invited to be a guest speaker at Yale University Law School where I will talk about my experiences doing business in Nigeria as part of their Doing Business in Africa Series. It is a week long series and I am extra privileged to be able to stand on the podium and relay my experience.

I want to Thank Chidinma Byron our able VP and Mrs. Ahunna Cook for making the speaking engagement possible.

Please attend and show them that I have people behind me.

Monday, April 25, 2016 4:30 PM-6:00 PM. (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)
Where: Yale Law School, 127 Wall Street, New Haven, CT 06511

This month has been a dream. The journey has gotten so much sweeter.

Next week we are doing a survey for an estate with over 200 homes on the Lekki Peninsula to provide them with solar power. They accepted our proposal and we have now moved to the survey and feasibility phase.

Please continue to pray for us. AWPS Renewable Energy has worked tirelessly to distinguish herself in our market.

GOD HAS BLESSED US. OUR HARDWORK AND SACRIFICES ARE BEGINNING TO YIELD FRUIT.

When things look most bleak is when you double down and power through the darkness.
