Maybe you need to read my comment again.. or let me just summarize it for you:

You asked what is illegal about FX-Trading, remember?.. Nothing. It is the way it is portrayed on Nairaland that is illegal.

If HYIP's et FX-Trading adverts becomes 'not-acceptable' on Nairaland, it only takes a bot about some milliseconds to mark as SPAM keywords classified under the said matter, thereby clearing the Investment section and leaving our NSEMPA alone wink

Ok, bye bye..
Davo, sup bro. It's been a while.

If you classify Forex as illegal, what will you call that business that the abookis do? What will you call what banks do? Come on, you are more smarter than this.

Dear Nairalanders,

We are thinking of completely banning the promotion of forex trading and sports betting on Nairaland.

Forex day-trading and sports betting are fundamentally fraudulent because they're promoted as a quick way of making money whereas due to mathematical facts, the only people who make money are the middlemen and marketers. The "investors" almost always lose their money.

In our experience, it's not enough to warn Nairaland members about the dangers of forex day-trading and sports betting. The promise of quick profit is just too strong for thousands of vulnerable Nairaland members to resist. The only way to protect them is complete censorship.

We believe that the complete ban of such content will make Nairaland a better platform for discussing legitimate entrepreneurship and finance.

What do you think? Please click 'like' if you like the idea; thanks.

Spoken like a true black man. Just because you think it is fraudulent, does not mean it is. Something that is engaged in legally all over the world is illegal in the minds of the average black man. Ok. Carry on.

Oh, by the way, you might wanna consider banning those blog links and misleading thread titles while you are at it.

[s]why do you try so hard to engage in discuss that you are not knowledgeable on, just because you want appear intelligent and thereby make you seem stupod in the eyes of intelligent folks cos it's very obvious you talk out of points.

You were never cut out for this from the beginning but more of romance/dating section.

I understand you are striving to change your past personality and I must accord you some kudos. However, in order to achieve your quest of intellectual supremacy, you have to read a lot of stuff.

For instance your suggestions stating that members should PAY seun for using his site is the most weird POV I have read in 2016. Even seun knows that he dares not impose such, otherwise there will be mass exodus of members out of here. Seun gains more from various members reservoir of ideas and knowledge without paying either of us a Kobo for creating threads that even help him rank on google.

If you were really intelligent as you are trying to prove, you would have suggest more productive means of monetizing nairaland to generate money, for instance sponsored post on front page to promote businesses.

I admire intelligent ladies with deep knowledge to discuss any topic. Keep trying... you will get there BUT spend more time reading than talking. It helps.[/s]
done!

What I wrote has been dealt with already.

Guy this is not a gay site, male and female are welcome to contribute their own quarter to every post.

Lastly, beg Mr. seun to change your moniker cos your moniker sound so unintelligent and it only belongs to romance/sexuality/dating and zone, don't you think that's a stigma to start with?.

I noticed football season 10 betting thread and that of forex is still up an running.

Maybe Seun have a listening ear after all, would like to use this opportunity to thank Almighty Seun, for not wiping the fastest-growing economy in Nigeria (football betting) from Nairaland.

The business section should be shut down... because people are still looking for their 400million which nairaland was used to scam innocent folks, they even moved the thread that caused this to the front page.

I don't know what FX traders are panicking about. Seun clearly stated "forex-day-trading" popularly know as Scalping. Maybe I should expantiate: Majority of forex-day-traders i.e scalpers sees forex as gambling, you'll see them deposit a token with their broker, let's say $10 (N3200) and they'll probably use the highest leveraging their broker has to offer, say 1:1000 which implies that they'll be able to trade with imaginary $10,000 at the risk of their $10 of course, so one wrong trade and their capital is gone, a lot even borrow money to do the above, very few of them do get lucky and as we know the profit is like that of HYIP's.

Bro, it's same with everything in this country. We will always have them around as long as money is involved.

It's man eat man out there. I know a guy who is into importation that buy a fake product for $1 from China and he sells them for 9500 naira.

Information marketers are not left out. They feed your mind with what you wanna see with bogus claims of how you make money online blah blah...

There is another one here on nairaland who claim to teach importation BUT I know he hasn't recorded much success like some of the top dogs of that niche.

It's everywhere bro... we will ALWAYS have those that will keep scream: "Get Rich Quick, Or Die Trying" but you know the funniest thing about the people that do this? They aren't the pro. In fact the pro hardly have time for such.

I have taught domain selling ( website URL selling), I know it like the back of my hand with thousands of dollars made from it and prove to show for it. BUT since 2013 I have never created a single thread asking people to buy my ebook. However, a guy who even contacted me to ask a few questions has created thread on same subject gathering people and claiming he knows a lot.

But does it mean there aren't people making it with this thing? Certainly there are. I remember when I was serving and they hadn't paid us allowee and I had NOTHING on me. While talking to manweysabi (that's his nairaland handle) and I just told him bro, this is my condition o. We haven't been paid. He told me to send my account number and he dropped 5k for me out his forex trading proceeds and he learnt everything from nairaland. Imagine if there was no place to learn it in the first place, could he have helped me? Do you see why the forex threads is good?

All those asking the clamp down have no idea what forex is all about, many of them are those that have tried it with GREED, got their fingers burnt and turned around to claim it's fraud.

Bro, things like this is no different from going to the University. Yes, it takes years to master. rozayx5 is another trader whom I am very close to. He TOLD me it took him 3 good years before he could start seeing positive results in his trading. But others will who just started wants to start making money INSTANTLY.

Forex isn't for someone who lacks patient or is emotionally unstable because under such state, you can't think clearly. There are parameters used to determine price direction.

People should just stick to what works for them.

In the words of Robert Kiyosaki: "Never Invest in what You Don't Understand" I use that rule every time and it helps me a lot.

Another word is: "what you learn is what you earn" If you learn something wrongly and you apply it wrongly, you will always have a wrongful result. It's that simple.

I rather the management of Nairaland makes it mandatory for all threads soliciting for patronage under forex trading and sport betting must disclose disclaimer to the risks inherent in engaging in such investments.
The two investment options are legitimate in Nigeria and i think the law requires such disclosure pertaining to the inherent risks of possible loss of all and or sizeable part of inested funds.

Noone is saying it's forex trading and sports betting is illegal. It's those making it look like a get rich quick scheme thag are giving it a bad name. I dare anyone here to post a game (single or accumulator) that will give a 10 to 1 reward. Noone will do that but they keep offering to sell games that will make you rich in 90 minutes.

I don't think you fully realize that you have nullified your own argument. Just like you said, it is not illegal. Just like smoking and drinking is not illegal. We all know that these two things are bad for you but people engage in it all the time. Why? Because they are adults who are free to make their own choices. This is why there is a disclaimer for whom so ever want's to engage in it. Even here on NL, the romance section has topics almost closely related to porn. Why has seun not banned it? I stand by what i said; he has a black man's mentality. Banning it won't change a damn thing. Anyway, it's his business and he can do whatever he likes with it. They seem to have a trigger finger when it comes to bans on this forum. There are members who have up to 20 ID's. The criteria for membership is lax because you can open a yahoo ID in five minutes and then open an account on NL. It is not like there is a reward system for having one ID so why do it? He is only encouraging multiple ID's by following this policy. Anyway, the true concept of choice and freedom is a concept that is alien to most Nigerians.

P.S Forex is a game of Numbers and time. It's all about statistics and math. People are just too impatient and s.tupid to understand it.

lol... You are funny. Firstly, I am not a forex trader but I know enough beyond basics such that if I want to delve into it tomorrow, I know what to do.

Seun gains a lot from the collective knowledge of every member who empower other through what they share. I remember contacting mukina2 to delete one of my old thread. Guess what I was told? I was technically begged to let the thread stay because of the wealth of information which other could gain from.

Why did they begged me to let my thread stay? Same reason they gave is same reason why I do not want the ban.

I guess that answers your question. You have no idea how huge forex is, let a lot the combined volume being traded everyday such Nigeria's budget for the next 20 years can not match.

Bank engage in forex. Anything that to do with with trading and exchange of currencies in the cause of such venture is forex trading. It does not have to be those who sit behind their pc.

During the ban on use of ATM outside Nigeria, you have no idea how much people made. Those who had the volume were make millions per hour, exchanging naira for dollar with Nigerian students across the world.

Siddon dia make sokoto wear u.

We are specifically against retail forex, which is "the small segment of the larger foreign exchange market where individuals speculate on the exchange rate between different currencies" because it "has been promoted by some as an easy way to make profits and has thus been the focus for a number of foreign exchange frauds", according to wikipedia.

Well I'm sure you wouldn't take wikipedia serious, because anybody can go there, edit and add whatever he or she likes. We saw this during Stella Odua bullet proof vehicles saga.

So, what's to stop someone who doesn't like what you said above from going there and editing and filling in what he or she deems fit?

Just asking...
