If this country, the said "giant of africa" is struggling with electricity in 2016, when even lesser African countries av gotten this right and moved on, not to even talk of countries like the US and Canada, where just a state even an airport generate more mw of electricity than this whole country.
What exactly is wrong with Nigeria? Generation of electricity is nt even up to 2,000mw nw, for a whooping 180million!! While south africa a country of 55milion currently generates 40,000mw, that is 38000 more than Nigeria, and as a matter of fact they have no fuel or gas reserve(I stand to be corrected), before some People start pointing out pipeline vandalism as the problem.
Nigeria WILL NEVER develop atleast Industrially, as long as this problem persist. There is scarcity of tomatoes nw, this wouldn't be if there was a way to preserve it when there was surplus of it. DATA and call rates will always be more expensive here compare to other countries as long as telecom companies continue to spend tons on generators to power their masts.
In short, Power(electricity) is the bedrock of civilisation and industrialisation, I wonder why we are still not getting it right, maybe till 2090, maybe.

Bros why you de lie about uyo na? Have u even been there? Uyo has, in worst cases, 10hours of light daily from AKS IPP. Except if the area supply feed is bad.

10 hours of light daily? Come to Enugu and enjoy 48 hours uninterrupted power supply.

so you go to surrounding village to charge your phones in this harsh economic environment coupled with no petrol for generator?

NO! In Lafia, government offices, private offices, business centres and shops are run on generators, even the AEDC business unit (you can check the one along Makurdi/Jos road, infront of Romantic Bakery) are run on generator. And also residential houses are run on generators too, I have a neighour that have constantly, at least for the past one year now, running generator from 7:00pm to 6:00am everyday (I heard he is filling station owner!)

Lafia, Nasarawa State: Have NEVER seen electricity during the day for more than a year now, absolutely no electricity for the past two months, if at all you get electricity it will be between 12midnight to 6:00am!!!
The surrounding towns and villages do have constant electricity though

Nne, small small naa.... Depending on which part of Lafia u stay. Ive been staying in Lafia and just left last month, light was constant - about 20hours a day.... Note: I stay close to College of AGRIC. So depends on where u stay

Ekiti ppl are cowards, they are seeing this and will never say it. it is totally, perfectly, outrageously, outstandingly bad here in Ekiti, most especially the state capital, Ado-Ekiti.
Anyone that want to contest the fact should challenge it.

College of Agric is at the outskite of Lafia, more or less in Shabu, there is constant power up to around Poly, but from Bukansidi down, its total darkness! The main town of Lafia (which is the sit of government) is in total darkness! Its like having no electricity around Aso Rock area while Gwagwalada enjoys almost 24hours supply

there is a decline in generation, the few megawatts available are being rationed. and the distribution companies who are after profit prefer to give customers who can pay, rather than do father xmas. that's d simple truth
modified. if d allocated megawatts is not enough to power a feeder, a smaller feeder will be powered, reason why a major town is without supply and some villages nearby are

all the state govts and their respective commisioners for power are all dumbskulls including fashola. how much does it cost to build a state owned turbine. simple solution for a monstrous problem like power require common sense but our leaders, including the dulard-in-chief of d fed rep are bereft of ideas and this simple solution. i called it simple solution cos nigeria has the resources to tackle it.

You said the truth, but our laws and policies on Power has made it incapacitated for state govt and private individuals to build power stations, cox and power plant with a capacity above 100Megawatts will hook up to the
National grid.

For Nigeria to have constant power supply let the disco company source for power outside from the Transmission company , and govt should give private investors licence to generate power above 1000megawatts and transmit directly to the Discos without involving the Transmission company of Nigeria.

bro do you take Orijin? i'm willing to buy you one. you hit the nail on the head. i have told people that if Nigeria wants to get it right, they must take Electricity seriously. the govt have made look like rocket science, and i cannot but shake my head. the good thing is that Nigerians are now taking solar energy seriously.

lol, my bros, tanks for the offer. For real, "Electricity is everything" Give Nigerians stable electricity and see what we can do, cost of production will reduce drastically, Even crime will reduce sef, an idle mind is the devils workshop they say, when there is electricity, idle youth will be in there room watching movies sef. I was in a neighbourhood, that is always known to be busy and rowdy, on this particular day every where was so silent, and I was like what is going on?then the friend I was visiting said "There is light nw, everybody dey inside"..
