The message you received as alert doesnt even contain your available bank balance. Check the message again if u still av it. Authentic sms alert wi include the remaining balance in ur account.

Haven't u heard of bulk SMS before?

People castigating the OP should know that not all banks sends Bank Balance, rather they send the amount credited and some few write ups...

Eg First Bank

Take Heart Bro, i pray you get this guy, its quite painful that someone would be doing stuffs legit online and making it, while an able youth would sit down and strategise on how to dupe his fellow man... Sad embarassed

You can track through your IMEI number and people also suggested using the iPhone locator... Just try your best, i hate the word SCAM because i have fallen a victim before. You will surely get him! kiss

I sold an iPhone to this scammer and he did a bank transfer.. I received d alert thinking the money was in and we parted ways. Little did I know that I have just been scammed and it was a fake credit alert. His phone no has been switched off but his whatsapp no is going... Who can help trace him... BEWARE OF BANK ALERTS

The guys no is 09050587873...please help trace him and help me

WOW. That was a really smart thief. What he did was very brilliant indeed. This is a new one!

How he created a number that displayed Wemabank on receiver's phone when he sent the text is very interesting. This can only be possible if he had an accomplice who works at a mobile service company. Or he works at a mobile service company.

Telecommunication companies only do that for companies, not for individuals!

Well he doesn't know, that's why he is asking for help, no one has a monopoly of knowledge, an old Igbo singer sang, " ka I ma nka, I ma nke Ozo" which translates as, since you sabi this one, you sabi the other one.. let us stop insulting people when things like this happen and proffer solution if we have any. life na College bro..

OP sorry to hear of your ordeal bro, you just have to be careful when transacting online, it might seem convenient at times, but you have to consider it comes with an element of risk. for high value goods such as iPhone I would generally advice a face to face transaction ( cash in hand, then sales.. period!)..

If you have the imei, send it to me, I might be able to keep you on the loop on the phones movement using that..

This is his number.. 09050587873...his number won't go through when you call him but on whatsapp this number is working! !!guys Pls add him up and let's see how we can get him! !I can't even eat because I couldn't believe such thing existed

First thing you should have done and should do now is lock down the phone...it's an iphone, if you didn't disable the icloud but just logged in, you can lock down the phone. So it becomes totally and absolutely useless to the scammer. Then you can use find my iPhone, to locate the phone: even if the phone is off, if properly configured, an iphone would upload it's exact last location to icloud just as the battery is about to die.

Couple of things I noticed about your scammer: he's not a newbie...he planned well. He's numba isn't on truecaller, which would also possibly mean that number ain't registered to his actual identity. So getting his details from the telecommunication companies would most likely lead to a dead end. Plus there are places you can go to where pre-registered sims are sold, he could be using one of such. However, the telecom companies would definitely be able to track down the location of the number by pinging it...this however, you cannot achieve on your own. You'll have to:

1). Report the matter at a police station close to where the incident happened (not just any police station o, 1closest to where the incident happened)

2). Go to court and swear an affidavit, stating what happened.

3). Return back to the police station where the incident was reported to get a police report.

4). Write a letter to the telecom company hosting the number and personally submit it to their head office, armed with the police report and affidavit...the letter should request for the data history and geo-location of the number in question. Please note, you would most likely require the services of a lawyer or a learned and knowledgeable police officer for this final step cos you might need a court order or a warrant before the telco would release this information.

Another thing you can do is try to run a trace using the IMEI of the phone...if you have it.

Sorry4ur loss. You got tricked by a cleverly crafted internet/bulk sms. Whilst you were thinking he was logging into his account to initiate transfer, what he was actually doing was modifying the sms (inserting the amount, your bank name and account details). For those who say you should have noticed cos your account balance wasn't shown: not all banks state account balances...I don't know how Wema does it, but I know not all banks mention balances in sms alerts.

What the guy needs is solution(s) to his problem. Like someone said try and use a female trap you may be lucky. It worked for me when my wife's phone was stolen.
these fraudsters are now smarter than they used to be. A female trap won't work no more. I believe the number he has of the guy will be used for scam transactions only so when a female jumps in his whatsapp to initiate a chat, he will know something is fishy

1) How did you meet him, maybe someone introduced you to him. You have to retrace your way back to how you met.

2) Can you use a true caller app to get the details of the phone number you have and maybe trace the name to a Facebook page or other social profile accounts

3) Bulk SMS sender all have servers they push out their bulk messages from, you can find out which bulk SMS provider he used and hopefully he registered with a clean profile with them .

4) if you haven't changed all the iPhone online account details. You can remotely access GPS , camera and maybe shut down the phone or track location of the person.

5) pray to Jah, the most high ... and learn from the experience.

Some weeks ago, a dude met me @ the ATM stand and asked to help him withdraw 10k that he will transfer N12k to me, saying that he forgot his ATM at home. As a sharp guy, I felt could make extra 2k to buy suya atleast, but I asked him to first send the money then I will check my balance and withdraw it for him. But he kept saying that he is in a hurry, he asked for my account details, but when he asked me for my phone number , I smelt a rat, small time I received alert of 12k, but the idiot did not know that I don't receiev alert on that account, the main reason I asked him to send to my account so could withdraw initially.

You need see the way I launch the guy, inside the ATM stand, as e wan take off... e begin beg me say make I no shout, say na him mama no well and he Ned money to treath her. I handed him over to the bank security

Get a court warrant from the police to contact the service provider. He will be found using telephone tower triangulation.

Op, like seriously, how can you confirm a payment was made to your account without checking your account balance to confirm the payment.
This is just like receiving cash for an item without counting the money.
