Seun, no country on Earth is sacrosanct. There is no such thing as "unity forever". We all became 'Nigerians' not of our own will but by the will of Lord Lugard and the British. If people cannot talk about how they came together, the terms of being together and terms of separation then these are people in bondage. As an Igbo man, I value my freedom. I can never support anyone being in bondage.

In 2014, the same Britain that made us Nigerians were prepared to break up when it offered Scotland a referendum. There was a robust conversation about secession. If our own colonial masters could proudly talk about secession, then who are we as Nigerians to say we can't? After all, we are their creation. How can we be saying that we hope to one day become like Britain but we do the polar opposite of what they do? Scotland was part of Britain for 300 years but could still talk about secession and got a referendum, but it is Nigeria that just a little over hundred years old that people cannot talk about secession? Why? Stifling the voice of the secessionist is not the way to promote national unity, if anything, it makes it worse because there is no such thing as "unity by force"

Seun does not say you shouldn't secede if you want to, all he said is do not use nairaland to promote seccession. He owns the site and set the rules. As long as we are under his roof (nairaland), we will be under his rules. Shikena. If u want Biafra u can promote it on other social platforms. Peace wink

Seun:
Fellow Nairalanders,

Nairaland loves Igbos and Niger Deltans very much. The thought of being separated from them for any reason is unbearable to us, so we have decided that we will reject any attempt by anyone to use Nairaland to promote the idea of removing Igbos and Niger Deltans from Nigeria.

We have updated rule 9 of Nairaland to reflect this decision. It now says:

I'd like to urge all Nairaland members to respect and obey rule 9. Mynd44 is in charge of enforcing it. If you break this rule, you'll be banned.

Thanks,
Seun (Founder Of Nairaland).
Please what does Nairaland have to say about Fulani Herdsmen and Boko Haram?
