Animal cruelty

Africans would continue to be Africans, Primitive life is synonymous to that name Africa.

Sometimes I wonder if it was human being slaughtered as such, would it be fair?

Majority of those animals almost have same anatomy with humans that's why the white people has what is known as ANIMAL RIGHT which was first enacted by HITLER back in Nazi Germany.
hypocrisy! If any govt is concerned about animals, then they should stop any act of industrialisation activities that threatens the natural ecosystem of these animals, say gas exploration especially gas flaring, oil spills, deforestation etc. some random hunters killing these animals will not likely be a threat to their existence. rather organised activities like those of the govt for industrialisation causes their extinctions. before the whites came with civilisation and industrialisation , African hunters where never a threat to animals as pronounced as now. me think if animals would be allowed in their natural habitat, they could reproduce as much as being killed, if the young ones are left in hunting.

Anyway, I really do not think I can stand the sight of that animal, especially when I have no idea of the name... I've seen over 10 different names on Nairaland, implying that we don't know the actual animal.

This is antelope my brother

It is known in Yoruba as 'EGBIN' and adjudged the most beautiful of all animals. They will say "OMO YEN DARA BI EGBIN".

A kangaroo known as Igala possesses horns whike antelope doesn't.

jstrollet:
My colleagues chased & killed this bush meat yesterday when coming back from a site after it was knocked by an okada man who fell on the ground & got injured.

It was really my first time not only seeing this animal live but also the 2nd bush meat I have ever eating after "Bush Rat". Come see our compound like say nah party we dey celebrate & nah yesterday I knwo say Yoruba ppl no dey use meat play @all to the extent that almost the entire families of the okada man came down to Ijebu-ode all the way from Itele to have their own share of the meat, I was almost angry coz they short ma own share lol....

Please NL's help me to identify the name of this animal cos I said it was an Antelope but most of the men here said it's not an Antelope but " Igala" I don't know what is Igala in English & they also don't know the English name, they said Antelope use to have horns.

Below are pics of the bush meat

the poor animal was hit by an okada man (who decide not to be a hit and run this time). Do you expect them to take the animal to hospital

It's definitely an antelope...maybe the kudu specie it's a female that's why it's got no horns.

U could do research on em.

Anyway they're all meat and this doubt this particular breed are extinction .

A gazelle is any of many antelope species in
the genus Gazella or formerly considered to
belong to it.They have 6 species ; The Six species are
included in two genera, Eudorcas and Nanger,
which were formerly considered subgenera .
The genus Procapra has also been considered
a subgenus of Gazella , and its members are
also referred to as gazelles
Deer (singular and plural Deer (singular and plural) are the ruminant
mammals forming the family Cervidae. The two
main groups are the Cervinae , including the
muntjac, the fallow deer and the chital , and the
Capreolinae , including the reindeer (caribou).
The above animals both have Horns so with this I beg to differ that the animal killed above does not belong to any of this crew.

So irritating when animals are killed for meat and some fellows comes and start saying if shouldn't have been, it should have been conserved, haba.. When i watch Nat geo wild and see those Buffalos go i pack i drool oo, too many meat wasting that are meant for consumption and people are here saying conserve them, we no dey America. They are for food except not edible.

But that skin should have been saved it would have been beautiful..we are not a heavily armed or hunting society and we have vast areas, also this is a herbivore and its death would probably not affect the ecosystem so congrats hope it was tasty..i think the animal is a duiker, or some form of antelope

that's not impala as impalas are not found in west Africa..that is a bush buck(west African variety)

That is a bushbuck and it is not threatened as they can survive heavy hunting pressure.
Kudus occur in southern and eastern Africa not west africa
