Hi, thanks for help so far. I am hard working and very dedicated. However, the nature of my course limits me. For example, I go in for lectures from 9am to 3/4/5pm Monday to Friday and my course is only full time.

Also, I usually have long holidays of 2-3 months and I do as many shifts as possible during this time. I don't think I would want to go down the route you have suggested as I'd like my hubby to study in the UK.

I understand that..was only thinking outside the box as regards to studying in other EU country.. Does he work in Nigeria?

The applicant has 2 options
(1) Applying for a visiting visa and risk been rejected(no recourse to public funds and cannot legally work)
(2) Wait till all the prerequisites are meet and apply for a spousal visa (with a 100% success rate, if all checks out).

Thank you so much dear. Sadly, none of the options appeal to me.

I hope you find a better solution.

the only way in your current circumstances is if you have savings to meet the requirement.

here's an example to calculate it, with a salary of say £4,230pa

£18,600-£4,230=£14,370
£14,370 x 2.5= £35,925 (the 2.5 is length of visa)
£35,925 +£16,000 =£51,925

you need to add an additional £16000 to any income you fall short so in this example the total savings required is £51,925 held for a minimum of 6 months, this can be a gift to which origin and source can be proved, you cannot use loans of any kind, and any house sales the cash would need to be accessible for a minimum of 6 months.

should you have variable income due to holidays and working more, the calculation would be dependant on how you are paid i.e weekly/fortnightly/4 weekly or monthly, the calculation would be different and you would need to work out an average of your pay ( I can help with the calculations if this helps)

hope this helps smiley

Hi dear, I found your advise very helpful especially the second paragraph as I think it applies to me. Can you shed more light on it please?

I work 45.2 hours per week (I.e £550 after tax)while on holidays which usually lasts between 2-3 months. Also, I get paid weekly. Can you please work that out for me please?

Hopefully, it works out. I'm getting all excited lol

Your calculations need to be Gross pay so if you are weekly paid with weekly payslips, and for the evidence you supply 26 payslips (6 months) to get your average you would do...

26x£gross weekly x2 to get annual average then / (divide by 12 to get your monthly average)

example... Bob gets paid on a weekly basis and his weekly gross (before deductions) is £365

26x365=9490 (26 weeks=6 months)
9490x2= 18980 (yearly average) (bi-yearly needs to calculate £9300 minimum)
18980/12= £1581.67 (monthly average) your monthly average needs to be minimum of £1550

I hope this helps smiley

fortnightly pay= 13 payslips
four weekly pay = 7 payslips
monthly=6 payslips

use the calculation as above for the 26 weeks, there is no way for me to calculate it for you without the correct figures from your payslips.
Also remember the 28 rule for the final financial documents, I.E. last payslip/bank statement/employment letter to be dated within 28 days of application date.

I just calculated for you and your actually only on working day 58 as of submission, overseas applications are counted from receipt in the UK

Only when you reach 60 working days (minus weekends and public holidays) I would suggest emailing them through https://www.gov.uk/contact-ukvi-outside-uk and if you get a standard response, then contact your local MP who can check on your behalf.

here try this site http://www.timeanddate.com/date/workdays.html
Hi guys, my husband's settlement visa is now on 63 working days, the biometric was done 20th April. I emailed UKVI on my husbands behalf yesterday and received a reply this morning stating.."I have tracked the status and found that a decision on your application has been delayed whilst further enquiries are being conducted." The waiting is so hard... They've had 63 days to enquire I don't understand what is taking so long. So annoying erghhh

thats a standard response when they go past the 60 working days, try not to panic if your application is straight forward it shouldnt be much longer, i am sure they are getting a lot of Student applications by now.

Hi, after you receive the decision made email. Do you then have to wait on a date to collect your passport?

Yes you then wait for another mail telling you it's ready for collection unless you opted for delivery to your address

Hello, can any please tell me what to do about this IHS fee we pay once we arrive in UK. Because £600 is much, what is the purpose of paying this money? Or do we need to go any where to claim it?

It's a rip off simple! Thanks to Theresa May.

When you start working you will still pay NL which is a contribution for NHS and benefits.

So in 5 years they collect your £1200 with no option of claiming it back.

Hi guys, has anyone experienced this? I called the Visa line for an update on my husband's settlement visa they escalated the case on for me. I received a reply from ukvi stating' We have received the following update from the Decision making centre on your escalated case. The email address......@gmail.com belongs to the sponsor so no information can be given without a signed letter of consent from the applicant.'

To me this is non-sense since I am the one sponsoring my husband to come here, all the financial documents relate to me why can't they give me an update. (this was received last friday 15th July) So, I called like half an hour ago and they still didn't want to give me an update so I asked for them to send the update to my husband's email address. It's now 65days and the HO don't even want to provide a status update.

I can understand your frustration but maybe if you tell your husband to call it will be wiser....
This ppl wants your money but they have limited staff which is why they have so many backlogs. there have been rise in applications not just from nigeria alone but world wide... so u will have to consider that so please be patient.

Let the applicant call and it will only cost nothing less than 3000 naira . No news is good news so please stay positive and always remember there is two side to a coin...

I have seen situation where someone complained to the UKBA why would they disclose is documents to the sponsor since is document was meant to be returned to him and vice versa...

stay positive and everything will be fine...

Well For visa applications made outside the UK, you’ll have to pay if:

you’re a national of a country outside the European Economic Area (EEA)
you’re applying for a visa to work, study or join your family in the UK for more than 6 months (but you’re not applying to remain in the UK permanently)

For immigration applications made from within the UK, you’ll have to pay if:

you’re a national of a country outside the EEA
you’re making an immigration application for any length of time, including applications for 6 months or less (but you’re not applying to remain in the UK permanently)

You no fit blame this ppl bruv... i was one of the ppl who benefited from free medical when i came to UK in 2010 as a student... and more also so many ppl would have benefited before me or even after me before they started all this IHS fee...

they have paid there dues too one way or the other.. so sorry u have to pay for this .... it might be so unfair to u which i understand but from there perspective they are giving free medicals to a lot of nationals so obviously they have to carry out strategies with the amount of applicants applying to come to the UK....

God go provide the bar for u bruv... stay positive

Hey guys

Firstly,I just want to say I have been reading through this thread after discovering it on google last night and it's been very informative and great to read through what I could so far, so thanks for all and congrats to lots of you successful applicants. It's nice to read and keeps me positive. Also i wish good luck to everyone too.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone can kindly access my info below to see if it's good enough to process or should we wait?

6 months Bank statements - if we apply now, 3 months of my statements will be using all my £1000 overdraft limit - the other 3 months will be positive balance that's currentry 2000ish+. Should I wait few months so most of this is positive balance? Does using the overdraft that much really matter?

Also on these statements it shows monthly income from Google advertising that I still make from my old past time blog articles I used to write. It's not much, but its paid roughly same time as my wage, so do I need to mention what this is when we apply? The reference doesn't say google - just some code with usa bank name short code. Will they question what this is? Or just care about my wages?

Also if wages being paid in account is all that is important, could I give them 6 months statements starting exactly from first proof of wages paid to sixth month of payday..or does is have be entire statement of each month.

Are whatsapp chat logs and stuff really that important? I read many people provide months or even year worth of chat history....would screenshots of sweet whatsapp moments be ok? I've made 30+ a4 paper with about 15 sweet images on each page throughout the years. Lots of flights and hotel bookings too.

I've read elsewhere on others visa checklist that people get there Photocopy of passport and birth certificate offically confirmed by someone like solicitor. Is that really needed?

Are the visa application fee and health care surcharge paid at the same time?

That's all I can think of right now.

Hope someone can provide some insight.

Thanks : )

1. Who is the sponsor?

2. The most important thing here is to earn the required amount that meets spouse visa financial requirements, i'm yet to see somebody who was refused because of overdraft but if that bothers you then wait until you have a clean bank balance

3. Yes whatsapp, text messages, email chats are very important as they are used as proof of communication.

4. Your passport and birth certificate does not need to be confirmed by any solicitor(waste of time and money) present the original as its.

5. I'm not sure about this but i think the health surcharge is paid in the bank while you make visa fees payment online (others will correct this if i'm wrong)
