From my experience as an animal scientist nd egg distributor...u can maybe use a/c in ur store, store ur eggs at lower temp e.g like 13-16°C can make d eggs last for like 4-5weeks before spoilage buh the best is to sell or eat within 3wks
Also bout washing, washing d eggs with water makes it easier for bacteria to penetrate into the eggs so I'll advice u use sponge but it also reduces shell thickness/strength so u will need to be careful tho if u re gonna use sponge to remove dirt, d dirt needs to still be fresh and soft so u won't have to scratch d egg too much before d removal of d dirt
I stand to be corrected if there's anything i said wrong

@Moisef, what will your weekly egg requirements be like? We can accomodate you if 200crates to 250 crates per week is fine for you.

We dont deliver to customers. They pick from our farm gate in Ibadan.

Please let me know if you are interested, so we
can discuss further.

But how many refrigerators would u buy to preserve ur eggs??
When u can buy an air conditioner at almost the same price that would turn ur store to a coldroom for ur eggs and preserve them

Seskee,

At the moment, I do not have a farm I can link you to in Abuja.

Few farm owners and ''mega'' distributors have placed adverts on this thread in the recent past, kindly check them out.

However, be careful and follow the rules - buy only from a farm or depot DIRECTLY.

We are in Apata, Ibadan.

What is your requirements per week?

I have sent an in-mail to you.

That's good. Our eggs are unsorted and they are sold as it is. Price varies presently ranging between 680-700 depending on Customers and volumes. Though prices may go upward soonest due frequent increase in feed materials and other inputs.

Also, you don't need a truck for 250 crates of eggs. A simple wagon car will conveniently carry that quantity and to be honest we are not involved in the logistics. However, you can easily negotiate with drivers at the nearby motor park to get the job done.

I hope this helps.

Are based in Lagos? If so she can get about 100 crates from me and my partners.

As regards marketing, she has to read the previous pages we discussed it in details. If going through the thread looks cumbersome for her, she can pick our Ebook on the topic.

Re: My Experience In Egg Distribution Investment. by Blackkie: 2:09pm On Aug 23, 2016
Storing eggs is the most difficult in the business at the moment.
Firstly, keeping eggs for more three [3] weeks is a great risk.

Water comes handy in cleaning many things. For eggs its a NO NO situation especially those meant for the open market.

I had a terrible personal experience with washing of egg when I had a little accident few months back. After washing few crates, those that I sold it to came back with complaints - many got spoilt. If you will wash any of them for any reason, make sure you advance ''them'' to clients who will consume them in less than three [3] days. Someone made mention of water bringing the egg in contact with bacteria, that is absolutely accurate.

Refrigerating them is a sure way of elongating eggs shelf life.
From my little experience, when eggs are subjected to the temperature of the the fridge exposing it again to normal room temperature is risky. Why? Once they experience both higher and lower temperature, eggs being a living thing and without the care of mother hen is bound to being the rotting process.

I got a update from an Indian farmer about this issue via a blog. He informed me that via some channels of egg preservation available where they are, some of the do lose their taste of ''freshness'' when eggs are stored for over four [4] weeks. The only remedy as he said is to refrigerate them and also put them in fridges till eaten.
