16 Things Soludo Told Buhari-Led APC Government In Kaduna by jarkbauer: 7:17pm On Aug 25, 2016
Professor Charles Soludo, on Monday in Kaduna State, took the Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government, to the cleaners detailing what the government must do to take Nigeria to a progressive change.

Soludo spoke as a guest lecturer at Kaduna Progressive Governance lecture series with the theme: “Building the economy and developing inclusive sustainable growth.”

Below are the 16 hard truths Soludo told APC governors with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in attendance.

That the collapse of oil price is a blessing to Nigeria as it presents an opportunity for a new beginning.

That the Federal Government should consider ‘loosening of Abuja stranglehold on the states’.

That Nigeria can’t experience sustainable and inclusive growth in the face of ‘mass elite discord’

That agriculture might not be a sustainable option for Nigeria’s economy given the disastrous level of poverty and illiteracy in the country.

That there is urgent need to Identify and break ‘dynasties of poverty’ as the surest path to sustainable growth and inclusiveness.

That APC government must not see the oil price collapse as a temporary development with hope for a rebound.

That APC must stop the blame game and focus on the challenges confronting Nigeria at the moment.

That APC government has not much time left having spent 35 per cent of its working days with no major milestones.

That he wondered if APC has any sustainable agenda at the moment, as a collection of any five APC leaders might just be source of comic relief.

That APC should consider proper devolution of power to the states for the management of their resources.

That APC should come clean with Nigerians, providing a measurable agenda with specific timelines for execution.

That APC should be the change it professes to be, if it must be taken seriously by Nigerians.

That APC must create an agenda for industrialisation and give form and content to change.

That APC must change from a coalition to grab power to a governing team.

That APC must be careful not to repeat the mistake of PDP which ruined itself with opposition from within.

That not providing qualitative education for the poor masses is building a time bomb that will affect everybody sooner or later.

And that he has belief, faith and hope that Nigeria would be great if its leaders do the right things.

I watched his address on Channels and i agree with everything he said. The man was very candid, honest and patrotic in his submissions.

He's somebody who is really passionate about the growth and progress of the country and it's citizens.

The ball is in APC and Buhari's court. They can't get truth delivered in a better way than this cool

God bless Chukwuma Soludo, my man anyday cheesy

The man is speaking rotten grammar.
Is Buhari suppose to initiate Agricultural based Nigeria Got Tallent?
The main goal of this govt is to reverse the corruption trend in the system and it is acheiving that goal well enough. Diversification itself requires funding and we are all aware that the present govt met huge debt and recurrent bill that's backed and sustained constitutionally. If with excess money we couldn't diversify how on earth will it be possible with a debt ladden system? People should know that govts doesn't create jobs but creates enabling environment for job creators.

Those who know are speaking up and speaking out. Let those who have ears listen.
Buhari/apc is seriously losing it though still with a chance to remedy. An election today even with the anti corruption noise will shock the sai baba chanters.
Verdict on the streets is simple: buhari/apc a disaster!

APC can never break from the consciousness of being a coalition to being a governing party.

CPC seized power in disguise and settled few individuals from ANPP and ACN only, nPDP grabbed their share by force while Rochas APGA remains the orphan of the coalition without any inheritance.

Poor cunning power grabbers.

Amaechi was so proud to tell congregation in Church before May 29, 2015 that there is no more money in Rivers State and that Nyesom Wike will suffer it. Ask yourself, who emptied Rivers State treasury and for who?

That APC should consider proper devolution of power to the states for the management of their resources.

I agree with the Prof. I also like someone who criticises and suggest solutions. This is what he Prof did here.

The problem is, the Governors are too corrupt to hand much power to them.

It is high time Intelligent,Patriotic Youths with the interest of Nigerias growth at heart start getting involved. We can't leave the state of Nigeria in the hands of this same criminals we keep recycling.Lets join together and take back our country. Imagine 100,000 youths contribute 50,000 that's already 5 billion naira enough for campaign among other things. We can either assemble a strong force or Join a notable party with the interest of the Nation screened by us. Enough of the Nairaland compalaining and social media rants. Lets get to work youths of Nigeria. The power is in our hands.Lets Restructure the Fiscal federalism of this Nation and Make it great.

Note:- By youths I don't mean small minded, corrupt, tribalistic, visionless youths

To gain more insight on this please go through this thread https://www.nairaland.com/3274457/calling-all-nigerian-youths

First thing first we need to strenghten and build a new mass re-orientation agency that will recreate the patriotic zeal and the unity of the country. Anybody who promotes hate in the country either through speech or writeup must be shot dead. Promotion of cross cultural exchange through marriage. Down playing of religion in our national polity but rather entrenchment of mutual respect. The president can only be stronger than a state governnor by the office they hold and not the resource generated from the state.

People from other places should be encouraged to settle anywhere peacefully. The rest are ok.

4That agriculture might not be a sustainable option for Nigeria’s economy given the disastrous level of poverty and illiteracy in the country.

5That there is urgent need to Identify and break ‘dynasties of poverty’ as the surest path to sustainable growth and inclusiveness.

7That APC must stop the blame game and focus on the challenges confronting Nigeria at the moment.

8That APC government has not much time left having spent 35 per cent of its working days with no major milestones.

9That he wondered if APC has any sustainable agenda at the moment, as a collection of any five APC leaders might just be source of comic relief.

11That APC should come clean with Nigerians, providing a measurable agenda with specific timelines for execution.

12That APC should be the change it professes to be, if it must be taken seriously by Nigerians.

13That APC must create an agenda for industrialisation and give form and content to change.

14That APC must change from a coalition to grab power to a governing team.

16That not providing qualitative education for the poor masses is building a time bomb that will affect everybody sooner or later.

And that he has belief, faith and hope that Nigeria would be great if its leaders do the right things.
[/b]
All the points stated above are simply impossible without funding. It takes money to make money and the APC govt met serious debt and huge bills which must be serviced, coupled with the fact that it needs more money to even meet infrastructural and much cravedeconomic expansion targets.
What we are asking is like telling Aregbesola to start new schemes to diversify the economy of Osun state when in reality the state is battling with heavy debt repayment obligations and can hardly run. The difference with Buhari government at the Federal level is that he is serious about clocking leakages and stopping corruption which he has done very well so far.

And the pro-buhari supporters on this thread are dissapointing me with their contributions. Most of them do not even deserve a response.

If it was a less intelligent post, maybe some of those contributions would not look so bad.

To those saying there is no funding, inspite of the reduced earnings, this year's budget is the largest in the history of Nigeria, as it took a huge leap from what it was last year.
This administration's huge and creative borrowing on the China trip helped to make to make this happen

Do u realize the highlighted part requires heavy funding?

You barely understand how your govt sustained the value of dollar in the past. It did it in a subsidy-like manner and right now there isn't fund to defend the dollar. The budget you are calling highest ever is technically one of the lowest ever in terms of its purchasing power. Compare its dollar equivalent to that of last year and you will quicky see that you are the one posting comments that is hardly worthy of a reply.

And who's fault is it dat the dollar to naira exchange rate is high, huh? GEJ I guess, because we all knew what it was before he left office and what it is now.
