In Igbo culture, a man who is rejected by his father or fathers people can return to his mothers kindred where he be allowed to assume his mothers original surname and live out his life there just as if he were in his fathers domain.
really??

Just as PDP used to say, it's a family affair.
Pls is the dad from Ebonyi? Cos I believe Ebonyians are the only igbos who are polygamous. A more informed igbo person can educate me though, we learn everyday
You are really confused. Are you just seeking attention? Where did you read that the boy's dad is from Igbo? The reason you chose Ebonyi as the only state in Igboland that is polygamous, is surprising. Customarily, all Ndigbo communities are polygamous in nature. And thats why in this letter the dad wrote to him, he recognized the fact that "His Royal Highness, Igwe Oduah 1 of blessed memory had many wives too..." Was Igwe Oduah from Ebonyi State?

So your believe that "Ebonyians are the only igbos who are polygamous" is not only erroneous but it casts a big question mark on your sensibility.

Who knows may be it was another man who impregnated her, and claimed it was her husband.

If it is possible to do DNA of a deceased, I doubt if the deceased would have the same DNA with the acclaimed husband.

I'm surprised he knew what the "Igbo marriage law is, which according to him

I married Stella traditionally and under Igbo marriage law, every child she has before my dowry is returned belongs to me.

So when his bride price was returned to him, why didn't he request for his children then?

One of two reasons: he wasn't interested in them and/or, they wouldn't give him the children. Goes back to what I said before... Anyway, it's a bit too late to cry foul. Let him go make peace with the rest of his kids and hope things work well.

No matter what happened between Stella and her husband has nothing to do with the location of the resting place of the dead young man unless the husband disowned the children. People do things without checking out the long term consequences all because you feel you can do it and get away with it at that moment. Let the young man rest in peace by taking him to his people unless there's something Stella is not telling us. But then there's is nothing she can say because the children are still bearing the Surname Etoromi.

Igbo culture and tradition though well structured can be complicated. What you said will only hold truth if the father disowned him but that doesn't seem to be the case as he was still answering his father's name until his death.

We need interpreters of Igbo powerful tradition please.

It seems the father is another typical useless nigerian father.

There are many many very useless unserious nigerian fathers.

The father should rather focus on reconciling with the other boy.

Women are dangerous, always trying to poison the mind of the child against the father . The man has done the right thing,if that son really wants to know the truth he should visit his father alone and hear his own side of the story,it is obvious he has been told only his mother version all along

These kids are really confused.
Denying your paternity and still bearing his surname seems contradictory.

The part of Nigeria i come from it is a taboo to bury one's son without his knowledge and consent irrespective of any outstanding quarrel between both families provided the kid have not claim the paternity of someone else before the demise.
The wealth, clout, influence or the background of the woman is immaterial,if Stella attempt this in my place her paternal lineage will be forgotten.

Anyway culture differs but i don't think African culture support this shenanigan.

What Stella did was an abomination. She has no right to bury the guy at her father's compound. The gods are angry and she will be in a serious problem for her action.

BUT WHY SHOULD THE FATHER IN THE FIRST PLACE DRAG THE ISSUE TO THE MEDIA.

WHEN THE BOY WAS ALIVE HE DID NOT DRAG IT, BEFORE STELLA BECAME A CELEBRITY HE DID NOT DRAG IT.
WHEN HE WAS AWAY HAVING FUN WITH WIVES AND SAMPLING WOMEN'S BUMBUM HE STILL DID NOT DRAG IT,

NOW THAT THE BOY IS NO MORE HE IS BUSY MAKING NOISES THAT HE HAS A SON.

I WONDER WHAT KIND OF FATHER IS THIS.

Your culture did not train you well

Where is it that the mother must bury the son without the fathers knowledge, will a mother give out his daughter for marriage without the father's knowledge?

if you read the post the you can infer the daughter stayed with the father she is not as stupid as the others.

Why Stella no dey talk about the daughter?

I feel the man's pain, but I doubt he's pained.

Is it when one child dies you start fighting for his corpse? Why didn't u fight to train the child or fight for custody of the others.

As for this Madam ex minister now senator, only you married this soldier man and Ogiewonyi (former minister for works). Abeg who else did/has she married.

Didn't u read d part where he stated that he has being telling Stella to bring d kids home? I think theres more to their issue.

The father was informed by the other boy.

But anyway the guy has been buried. Everybody should move on from there.

They should reconcile. The clerics should help them to come together.

You don't bury your son that u pay dowry on her mother in her mother's place

As long as the father is alive u must bury him where the father pleases

Everyone including 61 priests are enjoying this abomination and show of shame perpetrated by Stella Oduah because of her vast wealth but the the truth is when the repercussion of this abomination starts to bay for justice many who know the story won't be around and those who will bear the brunt will be the next generation of Etoromi ,then they will start running from night vigil to night vigil looking from solutions to what has hit them but won't realise that it all started on 2016 when thier wealthy grandmother decided to buy the corpse of her own son against wise counsel and the traditions of the land ..A word should be sufficient for the wise

Religion is the Achilles of our society.

So you mean his body should be exhumed and take back to his father's place?

That is not needed.

If I die if people like they bury me or not that is their problem, horrible smell of dead body would force them to do something. grin
