Routine without reality; profession of experiences sans possession; teaching ideals and sublimes which we have not pressed into ourselves etc these and many more is responsible for having these kind of fall outs.

Unlike other religions, the Christian faith presents realities that are to be experienced and entered into by the proclaimers. I mean, no other religion (as far as I know) promises power for service,grace for holiness of life etc Hence people who come around us expect to see these things not just hear about them from the pulpits with a totally different reality from both pulpit and pew after the service.

Jesus said to the lawyers and pharisees,

Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: [size=14pt]ye entered not in yourselves[/size], and them that were entering in ye hindered.(Luke 11:52)

Are we not lawyers too today? We know many things about the letters of the Word but know next to nothing about the Lord it reveals hence those who are impressed by our knowledge and draw nearer get disappointed because we cannot reveal a God we have not sought and found!

Word! Honestly I personally have decided to focus more on scripture and personal testimonies when discussing here on nairaland.

Lots of Bible antagonists here have decided to only see what they have programmed themselves to see and never beyond that and alas there is nothing we can do so arguments are absolutely unnecessary.

If there is no falling away first then all we preach would be lies...There will always be believers and unbelievers as God never said everyone would be a believer before He would Judge the world...He only wants them to be witnessed to and if those who already knew the word now wish to move away from it, Let them know that God had already spoken about them and their actions before now so they are free to continue in what they wish.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!

Theres a Church "So called" close to my house (Alabaster House Assembly, run by a Ghanian), These people do all manner of unheard of things in the name of church. Not long ago, it was their red Candle Service. By 12Mid day, every body ons their red Candles and chant after their prophet. Yesterday was their Coconut Service. They bought all the coconut in the market, after their rituals, they poured everything on the road for the innocent people walk on, whatever that means.

Can we now say, the people who go there and do these things do not know that what is going on there is ungodly? Are they decieved? I say no. They know what they are doing.

You think i would be surprised if one of rhem turns atheist tomorrow. At least HardMirrow here on NL was such a man. So...

lol.. yes you are right, but there are some who go to churches where it seems like they are doing the right thing, everything is as expected in the church but if ever they come to know about their pastors personal life it is going to break their heart real bad as they have given so much of themselves and their time to his work.

You just described me some years back. I got caught up in a web of Man worship without even realizing it. In trying to be grateful and appreciative for a kindness done to me, i lost sight of the fact that, God is behind everything anyone does for you, and as mush as we show gratutude to them, we do not allow them take God's place.

When my attention was diverted to that man of God, I started hearing, Idolatry, Manworship, Adolatry, Manworship. At first i didnt understand it because i never saw what i was doing as wrong. Then something happened. There was rumour of sexual infidelity between my pastor and a choir girl. If this girl starts singing....
Then she married, got pregnant, but it was rumoured that the pregnancy was not her husband's.

Note: All these, i didnt believe any of it, until she lost the pregnancy, went to another church for deliverance, confessed her sins and left the church. I was Crutched. I was angry, I almost got discouraged. But i stayed in that church for two years and prayed for him to repent for what he did and for God to forgive him.

I had to leave, i asked God where to go, he directed me to where i am now.

I think God needed me to know that no matter how aninionted a man of God is, he is still a man. He is a man first before God comes in. No one should look up to any man of God as would God, but most time we do this without realizing it. Today, i know differently and see differently.

Again, its a totally different senario from glaring error, unscriptural errors being practuced in the name of Church.

Truth is the highest percentage of atheists were Christians. and I believe the reason to be our misinterpretation of the gospel, or should I say misunderstanding of who God truly is and what he wants from us.
I've been reading some books by watchman nee and I have come to understand better some things about my faith that I didn't and it is such misunderstanding that sometimes make us start questioning whether God truly exist or even conclude that he doesn't.

They were not born 'demon-possessed' and those actions that might have brought about their 'demon-possession' might have been inadvertent. Should they still get punished for this; especially considering the magnitude of the punishment that awaits them.

Most of the angry athieats here are demon possessed. How you know is wen u antagonize satan or anything evil, their aggression tells you they are protecting their own. On a normal day, an athiest shouldn't bother if you go against satan.

No demon possesses anyone without their consent or dedication by someone.
Even at that, rhe demon possessed still have conscience but they yield to satan, and God wont force them out of their choices. Dont tell me they cant come out, cos they can. What they are is what they have chosen.

I know a lot of people who have lost faith but are forced to pretend as Christians, Muslims etc

in fact almost every atheist I know in real life do these things

most do it cuz of survival; their survival most times is connected to their religious connection

the stigma of coming out is pretty huge

I therefore have little doubts that many pastors in Nigeria may in fact be closet atheist who have to maintain a façade in order to feed their family
