Good Morning,

Please, I just recently picked up my marriage bases visa. We started the journey as cr1 visa category but our marriages was 2 years old the day the visa was printed and I still got the cr1 we started with but was thinking the visa category would change to ir1 because of the length of the marriage. Is there need to contact the consulate? What can I really do about that? Thanks.

If you believe there has been an error, you can contact the consulate directly to discuss the issue.

There is no error.... when you get to the port of entry, they would check your documents and right the correct status on your passport after being stamped. do not bother yourself with whats printed on the passport

If you believe there has been an error, you can contact the consulate directly to discuss the issue.

Hello, I just received my immigration packet and noticed the address is incorrect? Please advise who I contact to correct this as I have just paid the immigration fees via USCIS and don't want the card going to an unknown address.

Thanks

With the outcome of the just concluded elections, will any change in immigration policy by the coming government affect those that have been filed for or intending to be filed for next year? Do you also think obtaining a grencard via family might be scrapped? Looking forward to your inputs on both questions. Thanks

Thank you.

In order to apply for an immigrant visa, you need to have a qualifying relationship. You can read through this thread to find out what those relationships constitute. Armed forces recruiting is an entirely separate issue which is dependent on your physical condition and ability to pass required tests.

Unless the immigration laws are changed by the U.S. Congress, everything will continue as usual.

It sounds like you may not have been legally qualified for the U.S. visa... This can raise some serious questions in any future applications about the credibility of your application.

Thank you for the feedback. Please how do I show credibility in my future applications as the person that filled for the immigrant visa has moved on with his life since 2007 when the visa was denied. I didn't even remember it until I stumbled on the letter that was giving to us that day.

Does it mean that if my organization sends me on a training in US or I decide to go on a vacation in US or further my education I wouldn't be granted visa? Please I need your humble advice as I am bothered about it and the Visa officer doesn't make mention of this situation during interview, all I get is the 214b letter. Below is the original post

Hello VO,
I need your advice. A family who knew my family filled a visa petition for me on the grounds of adoption(because of the way things were then my dad was late and mum couldn't take care of me) which was approved by the department of Homeland Security office BUT I was not granted visa and Homeland Security was asked to review the process for possible revocation.

Now I have been denied visa twice possibly, because I didn't indicate the petition in the ds160 form although not purposely because I just stumbled on the paper that was giving to us that day (2007).

I want to know if I still have chances of getting a non immigrant visa when next I apply stating the petition in the ds160 AND how do I go about it because we are no longer depended on that family as I have a well paying job now and intend to further my studies in the US.

Dear Sir/Madam

I am USC and looking for clarification. Thanks for your help in advance! Yesterday my 10-year-old stepson had his visa interview and company with his father. I applied for my husband and my stepson on the same petition I was told after many months waiting for I-.130 approval that my stepson would need his own petition which I did.
In December 2015 I received a letter from NVC which stated “The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) does not allow derivative status to family members of immediate relatives. Means that meant I had to file a petition for my stepson. Which I did.
Both my husband and my son I-130 was approved. However, my husband needs to have a waiver under which I submitted in June of 2016 and still waiting for the process. However, I was told that my husband case would not affect the outcome of my stepson case.
Today it seems that my stepson was not given a visa because of his father case. My stepson and I have a relationship for many years. I am his stepmother and I would like for my stepson to come without his father. Rather his father’s waiver is approved or denied he is my stepson and that is a part of The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). Is there a law that states parent’s waiver need to be approved before children can be approved for a visa?
Or Was I given the wrong information and stepson should have been a derivative on his father petition?
On the letter, there is no Name or case# from the consulate that was given to my husband.
X >> other Admin Processing. No reason or why my stepson case was put in Admin Processing. Again thanks

Hi VO, my question is on drop box application. I noticed that the earlier clause of ''no more than two years prior to re issuance'' is now four years on the US visa website. Has it been extended now? My family and i were issued visas in Nov 2013 does it mean we are still qualified for drop box application?

To qualify for the DHL Drop Box Visa Renewal Program, visa applicants must be applying to renew either a B1/B2, an F, an L, or an H visa. They must satisfy all of the following criteria for their visa class. If applying as a group or family, all members must fulfill each criteria to use the program.

For a B1/B2 visa holder:

The applicant is a Nigerian passport holder;
The applicant principally resides in Nigeria;
The applicant’s last visa interview resulted in an issuance;
The applicant was issued a two-year B1/B2 United States visa;
The visa expired no more than two years prior to reissuance;
The applicant was at least 14 years old at the time of the last issuance or will be under the age of 14 at the time of reissuance; and
The applicant has never been arrested nor had an encounter with law enforcement, customs, or immigration officials in the United States.

For B1/B2 visa holders:
• The applicant is a Nigerian passport holder; if not a Nigerian passport holder, the applicant principally resides in Nigeria and their last visa was issued in Nigeria;
• The applicant’s last visa interview resulted in an issuance;
• The applicant was issued a two-year B1/B2 United States visa;
The visa expired no more than four years prior to reissuance;
• The applicant was at least 14 years old at the time of the last issuance or will be under the age of 14 at the time of reissuance; and
• The applicant has never been arrested nor had an encounter with law enforcement, customs, or immigration officials in the United States.

Hello Officer

Please I'd like to know the fact with applicable links to the resource on the USCIS website.

I have a pending F4 petition filed years back. If i get married today, before it becomes current, will my spouse automatically benefit from it OR will my petition be automatically revoked?

Thanks

Re: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by souleymon(m): 10:04am On Nov 23, 2016
Trying to file I-130 for a sibling and found out almost 10 years back he applied for a student visa with the help of an agent and his year of birth was altered in the old passport.

Now he has his real year of birth on the passport. This is conflicting and misrepresented. I like to know,how this problem can be resolved before going ahead with the filing in other not to get Visa denied in the future,knowing fully well ,the embassy still got his details.

I like to know how to go about this before filing because ,the outcome wont be years to come.

Good morning VO,
I'd like to know if it's possible for me to apply for a visiting visa while my i-130 is still pending? Actually my husband who is a US citizen filed for me since April the 17th2015, I now have a daughter whom I have also gotten her US passport from the embassy here in Lagos. Am frustrated this process is taking longer than usual. This is my daughters first Christmas I really will love to spend it with my hubby.
Pls advice me on what me to do.
