Ovokoo:

That's a personal opinion. The people ahead of the Ooni deserve to be there. We all know there's no traditional ruler as powerful as the Sultan as he also doubles as the head of the Muslim community in Nigeria. The Emir is also very powerful in the north and is highly revered throughout the country. The Oba of benin is arguable the most powerful traditional ruler in the south and then the Ooni before the Alaafin. We're all entitled to our opinions anyways.
your opinion !!!...for me tthose kings are all on the same level..none of them is ahead of the other, you people just like creating useless topics...rabbish!!

The alaafin of oyo should not be in that list.Furthermore the obi of Onitsha should be included!!

The only traditional ruler in that list whose influence extends beyond his region is the sultan of sokoto who also doubles as the leader of Nigerian Muslims. Other could be classified based on their sphere of influence in their geopolitical zones

Se-obi of Onitsha
Sw-ooni of Ife
Ss-oba of Benin
Nc-atta of igala
Nw-sultan of sokoto
Ne-?

Igbos doesn't regard those people that are mentioned bc their influence have no impact on their region...

They can't Lord over igbos that's the koko

They can only be powerful in their region not in Nigeria.

So the mod that took this to front page is misinformed and did it out of sentiment, partisan and emotionally

The internet just gives some ignorant people chance to rant their disillusioned opinion.
The Ooni of Ife is regarded as the custodian of the yoruba race which spans from the shores of the Atlantic to the Highlands of the North Central region of Nigeria.
The yoruba race is the largest in the whole of the federation and also can be traced beyond Nigeria.... From some part of West Africa to Central and South America where the yoruba culture is being practiced in all rites and tradition.....

And some nitwit will spew his filthy brain mucous pointing out filthy trash.....

Poor students of history.... They don't know that the fulanis where never indigenous in Nigeria.... They settled as herders and some where preachers of Islam...... When was the caliphate formed? Wasn't it after the Jihad in recent history?
And the cow is comparing it to an ancient civilisation and the most sophisticated empire that was ever formed from within Nigeria
How many fulanis are they? Those landless folks that go around killing people and stealing their lands installing their emirs as traditional rulers..
Nonsense

The fulani dynasty is a pseudo one... Occupying lands belonging to other tribes, particularly the hausas.... Why do u think they still go about killing people and claiming their lands....

He's not even the most recognised in Delta State, talk more of Nigeria.
He's respected only by Itseke people in the riverine areas of Warri. Can the Olu talk when Oba of Benin de talk? Can he cough when Orodje of Okpe is talking?

The Late Oni would have been the Third or second most powerful king if he were still alive, but this present modern day Oba has reduced some of the respect attached to the Title with his waka about, unnecessary familiarity and programs that are not really necessary, attending ceremonies upandan.

I think the Emir is also second on the list due
to the fact that he was once the governor of CBN, so that added more power to his position.

What are you saying? Try reason well pls. We are talking about the stool not the occupant.

No be only Obi of onitsha , na Mikel Obi

What amusing u?
Obi of onitsha can't be on that list because the igbos have always been a civilized bunch that ruled themselves via crude but democratic small unities ... Go ask ur colonial masters for this reason , they were hard to conquer... Unlike the submissive north and west that's why lugard gave power to the north because he knew they could easily be manipulated .

U that has ur king there we can see the effects on the hunger and poverty in ur environs...igbos arent sheeple and wontbsubmit to any one man, we believe in equal rights and human dignity for all. No man was born a servant ...

Thats why some of u believe in owodaism grin some parts believe it's their birth right to rule .. We believe in the industrious ability of the human being.
