Classic! Decentralise the government for effectiveness. How can the federal government alone control all those agencies? It breeds inefficiency. 1 Like |

They should Continue to give more powers to the states abeg. enough of all these luggage that the FG carries when it only cares of incoming revenue these days. It's sweet when you do stuff within the limits of constitutional powers when someone else thinks you shouldn't. 2 Likes |

Grundig: Hahahahahahaha.. That of IGP can never happen.. Not in Nigeria.. The powers of the president lies as the commander in chief of the arm forces.. .. He can never allow such power to be cut off or reduce and taking away the appointment and loyalty of the IGP is one of such powers the president will never do.. |

Seun really needs to do something. The rate at which fools are infiltrating the forum is getting worrisome. Most people won't even bother to read before commenting, it's really bad. This is quite a good bill. The exclusive list need to be decongested. My only fear is that just like GEJ, Buhari might also refuse to sign it. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Requisite revenue should be allocated to the states accordingly. Bit by bit I hope they grow the balls to stop d central funding system and provide for strict fiscal federalism and resource control. 3 Likes |

These are laudable bills for the constitutional amendment but the sensational headline almost makes nonsense of the content which I guessed deceived those commentators that criticised the action. If they succeeded in passing it and consequently ammended the constitution in this line it will have positive impact on the country. 2 Likes |

udemejack: Doesn't matter anymore weather Buhari signs it into law or not. Once he gets the bill he has only 30 days to sent it back stating his grievance cos failure to do so makes the bill law automatically. Those cutthroats have already changed that portion of the constitution during GEJ era. 1 Like 2 Shares |

Princedapace: But the police aren't part of the armed forces! That you perceive them to be says a great deal about how the lines between police and the military have been blurred in Nigeria by their repeated misuse over the years. Policemen aren't soldiers, and soldiers have no right to act as if they were policemen when they're dealing with civilians; the all too common sight of soldiers "arresting" ordinary people is nothing more than thuggery. 1 Like |

[quote author=omohayek post=51767557] But the police aren't part of the armed forces! That you perceive them to be says a great deal about how the lines between police and the military have been blurred in Nigeria by their repeated misuse over the years. Policemen aren't soldiers, and soldiers have no right to act as if they were policemen when they're dealing with civilians; the all too common sight of soldiers "arresting" ordinary people is nothing more than thuggery.[/quotel] Yes...police not part of the arm forces but a very important institution in internal security matters...the most important institution in internal security matters. That is why u see IGP attending arm forces security meetings headed by the president and other arm forces chiefs..... All points u made are valid...yes but in a sensitive country like Nigeria...not even the national assembly will consider relinquishing such power from the president.. He controls the police and the arm forces.. And he orders them.. |
