It's not about having nice fighter jets. These days countries operate with intelligence.

I don't think a frontal military assault is what Nigeria would employ.... more like a covert operation where they sponsor a local rebel group or two to cause confusion in SA leading to civil strife, the overthrow of the government and an imposition of a pro-Nigerian regime...something along those lines. Nigeria certainly has the money and know-how to do it.

Look at what Russia did to the US. They've more or less colonised the US with their manipulation of Trump into power using covert operations, without having to fire a single shot or warm a single fighter jet.
