I'm appealing to Nigerian government and relevant agencies to come to the aid of people in Ibadan. People are suffering, no food, no water, children are out of school. Parents have been laid off and unpaid. This recession is destroying lives in Ibadan. What pains me is SW media are hiding this from all of us in pretense that everything is fine. My wife couldn't stop crying as she was traumatized by the suffering. I visited Ibadan 7 times under GEJ, and it was never this bad. What did SWners do to deserve this from Buhari? Buhari...Kilode? As I write this now, my wife has contacted American Red Cross for humanitarian aid for Ibadan people.

This is not a tribal thread as I did not mention any tribe, so any attempt to derail this thread, you will be reported and banned permanently. I'll be uploading pictures

Prove or remain shut.
When an Igbo man tell you something. Before you reject it ask yourself. Is there anything I will gain if he is right? If there is any, agree with him.

We reason in terms of gain and lose. Forget sentiment, our belle come first.

Biafra is about the belle not sentiment. We want a secure future.

By the time Buhari is done with this country, Nigerians will be slim fit like him not by choice but through hunger.

Frustrated Igbo Man Shouts Buhari! Buhari!! Buhari!!! Jumps Into Lagos Rivers To Commit Suicide

An unidentified Igbo man in his 40 reportedly frustrated by the harsh economy under President Muhammadu Buhari lost hope and jumped into the river on the Mile Two Bridge in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, but for the timely intervention of a passengers speedboat voyager who rescued him might have died, Daily Sun reports this morning.

The unidentified man, according to eyewitnesses, stood on the bridge for some minutes, loudly expressed bitterness over his sufferings and how things had gone bad for him and his helplessness.

He was said to have mentioned Buhari repeatedly, muttered some other words before he finally took the terrible decision.

However, the timely intervention of a passing speedboat prevented the victim, who is in his 40s, from drowning.

Passengers on the speedboat dived into the river, dragged the man who was gasping for breath to the riverbank, and continued their journey.

A witness, Mr. Andy Odiaka, said the victim, who wore native clothes, was left on the floor for a while, unconscious.

Odiaka said that he called the state emergency number – 112, which facilitated the arrival of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) in about 20 minutes.

The three-man medical team, went ahead of the bus to resuscitate the victim. According to one of the medics, the man had to be given first aid drip, explaining that he was too weak to make it to the hospital.

Odiaka said: “I was there on the bridge where the man was also standing. He was speaking to himself. He,the IGBO man said he had no transport fare to move from one place to another. He said his suffering was too much that he could hardly feed. I also heard him saying life was meaningless to him. He mentioned Buhari many times, and the next thing I saw, the man jumped from the bridge into the water.

“He is an Igbo man because he was speaking the language. I thought he was joking when he said he was tired of everything around him.  “If not for a speedboat that was passing, he would have died. The boat stopped and the passengers dragged him to the riverbank and they continued their journey.

“Thereafter, nobody was ready to assist him. People simply looked at him, expressed sympathy and continued their journey. I have to call an emergency number,” he said.

Before the ambulance came, it was gathered that sympathisers, including Mr Odiaka, contributed about  N1, 000, with the intention of taking the victim to the hospital.

Another witness, who simply gave his name as Okpala, said he ran to the place and saw the man almost dying, but did not know what to do to help him out of the situation. He said he mobilised others at the scene to donate money to take the victim to a hospital.

“The man said he was tired of life and he wanted to kill himself,” he said.
When the victim’s pockets were searched for any means identity, only N90 was found on him.

We agree with each other...if you look at your post, this happened in SW...Lagos River. Whether he is Igbo, Yoruba or Hausa is irrelevant as I didn't mention any tribe...I said people are suffering. So could be any tribe. What is underpinning is...it's in SW. Have I clarified myself? I warned earlier, do not tribalize this thread...AS I DID NOT MENTION ANY TRIBE!

People that used to see free money no longer see free money and u pitying for em. Why not help em if yoh can from your pocket?? must the government do everything for Nigeria?? who you epp recently??
There is recession in the whole of Nigeria, the only people enjoying now are the people that have had private investments or entrepreneurs, its even worse in my own state(the presidents state) but we still keeping our arms folded and hoping. Creating a thread and complaining wouldn't change a dime cos poverty walks on four feet it Nigeria at the moment. Best we can do is develop that entrepreneurship spirit xos Government interventions in Nigeria never solve a ptoblem, they only ameliorate for a while and bang the suffering continues.

What I saw is beyond individual assistance. That's why we are involving federal government and international NGOs.

Nice one at least you have made a move. When i visited ma villa laste year, i went to a restaurant, i hadn't even finished eating wanted to grab a drink from the fridge next thing i knew, some Almajari have already started devouring my meal. I was shocked. Infact had to buy extra for em. The poverty in the north is an eyesore. I wish birtb control can be enforced in Nigeria and the rich people should be taxed heavily as well. cos the disparity between poverty and wealth in Nigeria is too much

And an Enugu-based Trader I know also just got busted for trafficking Cocaine through Abuja Airpot all because Recession is killing SE traders and kicking them out of business in an unprecedented fashion.. Even SaharaReporters sef carried the news. sad So sad, really.

http://saharareporters.com/2017/01/03/ndlea-arrests-34-year-old-man-wit-h%C2%A338m-cocaine-stuffed-shoe-soles

"There was an arrest at the weekend of a 34-year old suspect, Okolo Emenike Kingsley, who hails from Ezeagu, Enugu State. The motorcyle parts dealer said that he was offered the sum of N1 million to smuggle the drug to Nigeria. Investigation is ongoing, and the suspect is cooperating with our team of undercover officers.” The suspect, who is married and has a child, said he was forced into becoming a mule because motorcycle parts business has been hit by recession. The failure of his business, he added, made him travel to in search of job opportunity to Brazil, where his financial difficulties continued.

Let's not cover ourselves but expose, report the reality of what's on ground.
The OP was wrong after all,and only trying to cover the truth by denying that 'it' isn't affected by the so called recession'.
Here is another news, recession biting on the OP tribe. Let's always be honest with ourselves abeg :

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja yesterday announced the discovery of parcels containing cocaine weighing 9.15kg.

The substance was uncovered in a shipment of shoes during the inward screening of passengers on a Turkish Airline flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The cocaine industrially concealed in the soles of new foot wears, has estimated value of ‎£3.8 million in Europe (N1.5bn)

Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Colonel Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah (retd), observed that the huge profit derived from drug trafficking was why many are now involved in the illegal business.

Abdallah said: “We must continue to take deliberate steps to intercept drugs and ultimately prevent the criminal enrichment of drug cartels.

“Illicit drug proceeds negatively affect economic development, could be used to corrupt government officials and terrorism funding thereby subjecting mankind to widespread destruction.

Abdallah, who commended his officers, described the seizure as one of the benefits of training and validation of enhanced capacity of officers due to series of training programmes.

“The training covering investigation, raid operations as well as prosecution was conducted with the assistance of the United States government, European Union and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

“This is just a tip of the iceberg because as the benefits of these training begin to manifest, more drugs shall be detected and cartels dislodged in the days ahead.”

NDLEA commander at the Abuja airport, Hamisu Lawan, said agents arrested a 34-year-old suspect, Okolo Emenike Kingsley, who hails from Ezeagu, Enugu State.

“The motorcycle parts dealer said that he was offered the sum of N1 million to smuggle the drugs to Nigeria.

“Investigation is ongoing and the suspect is cooperating with our team of undercover officers.”

Speaking, the suspect disclosed he is a motorcycle parts dealer and married with a child.

“My business was failing due to recession
, so I travelled to Brazil in search of employment.

“Things became worse for me in Brazil because I had no money to sustain myself while my work permit was being processed.

“I was equally confronted with the fear of deportation. This made me to be desperate in my search for quick wealth.

“In the process, I met my childhood friend who offered me N1 million to traffic cocaine to Nigeria. He also paid for my ticket and gave me three bag of shoes containing the cocaine.

“On arrival at the Abuja airport, the cocaine was detected and I was arrested. I had wanted to invest the N1 million in business in Nigeria.”

NDLEA said suspect will soon be charged to court.
