Happy new year all! Wish all TRV hopefuls success in their applications.

I applied for my GCMS Notes and finally got it yesterday. I also got one from a friend who was refused and compared both. There's not much information, however there are a few important things which can be deduced:

1. Your name is run against USA and Canadian databases to check for criminal records.

2. Your name is searched for in IRCC database. This makes lying about previous refusals futile.

For my friend's refusal on purpose of visit and travel history, two offices were involved: London office gave the first review and Accra office gave the final decision: Docs and notes reviewed-limited previous travel demonstrated-no compelling need to travel- Refused as per R179.

My decision was from only Accra: Coming for tourism, Purpose of trip is credible, History of travel demonstrated, bank statements show sufficient funds to pay for the trip, I am satisfied that the applicant is a bona-fide visitor under R179. TRV issued.

Currently researching more into R179 to get more information but I believe it's the economic situation that influenced a lot of refusals last year. We hope this year will be better. smiley

Here is a wonderful Idea, if you have been successful in your visa application and you are asking for help, please quote your transcript when asking for help, or tips you used when you applied. And if you haven't posted your transcript or your tips, please do that, before asking for help.

Lets do MMM for help - PH and GH. grin

where PH - Provide Help and GH - Give Help

According to what I read, biometrics collection didn't start till September 4th 2013 for ghana.

If I may ask, please why do you intend to apply using a different name? If the only change in your biodata is your surname which has now been replaced with your husband's last name, it's in order. All you need do is include your marriage certificate to show you're now married. I'm not sure if Ghana had commenced collection of Biometric details as of the time you first applied but you should be able to recollect na, haba cheesy. However, I'd advise you come clean with your application to avoid permanent ban. if you must apply in a different name due to a reason best known to you, you must be willing and able to prove it by backing your application with relevant documents. People do change their names, if they don't like to be known or called by that name, it's not a crime. It can only be frowned at, if the motive is sketchy and fraudulent.

I understand ur point ,but I was much younger and naive when my mum who was applying her citizenship in Canada then used her own maiden name to put up d application.this application took alot of time before it finally got to Ghana by then I hv gotten married and hv a child already, and my age became a factor which made d VO to refuse me but granted my younger bros application as he was 14 yrs then . After d incident ,I returned my passport to my original name and got visa at USA embassy and it's on this new passport that I want to use and apply to Canada . Hence my question on biometric and thumbprint to knw my faith .All this happened 2010 . Hope my little explanation is understood .
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Nobody: 2:59pm On Jan 15, 2017

explanation well noted! As at 2010 CIC had not commenced Biometric capturing for all applicants regardless of their visa categories, this I'm sure of. This may somewhat allay your fears, I guess . The CIC commenced their Biometric visa application late 2013 for some countries and Biometric capturing for Nigerian applicants became effective on the 23rd October of that year. In your previous post, you didn't mention that you got another passport in your original name with a USA visa affixed on it. For people in the house to assist with your case, I think it's important you go into details in your explanation. For the CIC visa category you're planning to apply for, please read this thread from the beginning to the last post and I'm sure you'd find more than enough tips to take home. Good luck

Good evening Nairalanders. I submitted my paper application on 21 December for a conference in May. I initially did not want to submit because on the website it says 65 days and I would be needing my passport for another trip first week of next month. But they told me that it takes 10 working days and I was ok with that. I actually met some folks whose processing took like 10-12 days at the VAC. Besides all the past Canadian visas I had took 10 days or less. Now I am yet to receive any sms to come pick up my passport. Has the 10 days period been vacated because the website is now showing 112 days.
Thank you all for your response and have fruitful week ahead to everyone.

I'd advise you write them. I had a similar experience when I renewed my Visa. I needed to travel to another country, the travel date was close but CIC had not yet taken a decision on my application. I called vfs and they advised that I send CIC an email to notify them, which I did. A reply came the following day which stated that my application was queuing for processing and was still within the processing time...that they'd get back to me soonest. Within 48 hours after receiving their email, I got a pick up alert from vfs. Maybe you should do the same and let them know the importance of the trip you are planning to embark on, with your passport. NB- I attached in the email, an invitation for the meeting I was going for , which necessitated the need to travel with my passport. Send them an email to either of the following addresses... lagos@international.gc.ca, lagos.immigration@international.gc.ca.

Good evening Nairalanders I want to apply for Canadian Visit/Tourism for my cousin's wedding in July. I have a valid USA visa. Please what are the required documents for the visa application and also I was denied a study permit last year based on travel history and the VO was not convinced that I will be coming back to Nigeria after my study I hope this won't affect my visit Visa application. Thank you.
