Chuks' visit shakened me a bit. Even though i tried to stop myself from thinking about his "empty" threat, i still couldnt. I couldnt stop thinking about it.

He knew the secret concerning that hotel and he could ruin me with it. God! What did i do to deserve all this?

I checked the time. It was 8pm now but Kainene was not back. Maybe she was busy, because the next day would be Kaka's wedding.

My phone rang and it was Mabel calling. The two of us had gotten close by now, though she still hadnt regained her memories.

'hello Chioma...' her voice was lively.

I cleared my throat trying to sound lively 'Mab, how are you?'

'i'm fine oo. Nathan's taking me to a wedding ceremony tomorrow. Though i dont know the girl thats getting married but she's Claire's friend. Will you be there as well?'

'certainly. Kaka, she's Claire's friend' i wondered why she preferred calling Kainene Claire instead of Kainene. I didnt exactly like the name Claire. It was Chuks' handiwork.

'where are you? I'm bored. Are you at your hotel? Should i come over?'

'i'm at home. You want to come over by this time? Where's Nathan?'

'i dont know where he went to oo. Can i come over?'

'yes certainly. Bring something when you're coming over sha. And be prepared to spend the night'

She chuckled 'no problem. You'll see me in twenty'

'no problem' i hung up.

I dropped the phone and rubbed my forehead painfully. God alone was going to help me in this. God alone knew i had no hand in what was done concerning that hotel. I wasnt the founder of that hotel. My mum was and i inherited it when she passed away. I didnt trust Chuks anymore. What if he spills?

My phone beeped. I thought it was Mabel but when i opened the message, a frown creased my brows. It read;
Have you thought about what i said? I wasnt joking when i said i'd spill. I'm really going to spill if you dont reconsider, your darling husband

My heart skipped. Now i know Chuks was out to ruin me. But what was my offence?

*my wedding day*

21st March 2016 was the happiest day of my life. It was my wedding day. Today i was getting married to the man of my dreams.

I couldnt sleep the previous night. I kept tossing on my bed and at a time, i regretted not asking Kainene to sleep over. At about 3am, i went to my parents' room. My mum had been surprised 'ahn-ahn! Dem pursue you for your room?'

I had a wierd request. One she might not consent to, knowing my mother very well 'mum? Dad? Can i sleep in between you guys for the last time? Please?'

My dad had smiled proudly. Oh! How much i truly love that man. My mum had looked at me as if i had gone mad. My dad shifted and patted the middly for me 'come my angel'

'so if i want to do something with your father, how is it going to be possible with you here eh?' my mum grumbled.

I laid in between them and kissed her forehead 'mum, manage na. After today, you wont have me around anymore'

'thats why i'm tolerating your presence here dimwit!' she slapped my forehead. But that night, she had held me tightly to herself and prayed for me all night. At a time, i thought i heard her sob, then finally she whispered 'i will miss you Sunshine' my heart gladdened at that name.

So finally it was my wedding day. And by time, the renown make-up artist had finished her wonders on my face, i couldnt recognise myself. Was i this beautiful? I looked up at Kainene and smiled. She smiled back. She was on a beautiful cream sleeveless long flowing gown and blue heels.

The drive to the church was a quiet one. I dont know why i kept staring at my phone. More like i was expecting his phone call. Seriously he couldnt even call? I've watched movies and read novels where the grooms call their brides promising to take care of them and thanking them for accepting their proposals bla bla bla.

We got to the church by 9pm, with my parents and siblings.

To cut the long story short, the groom was not in the church yet. We were led to a part of the church where we were told to wait for the groom's arrival. At first, i thought they were being held by traffic. But when my mum came back saying she had tried his lines severally but he wasnt picking, i became apprehensive.

I started calling with my own number, he wasnt picking. I called him over fifty times, i wasnt counting but he wasnt picking. The time was almost 12pm now. Guests had come and gone. My family were helter-skelter. By this time, i had cried my eyes out.

Casmir couldnt do this to me. He wouldnt stand me up at the alter. I waited. I decided to wait. 2pm and my mum got up angrily, that she was leaving.

That was when a text came into my phone Marrying you would have been the happiest moment of my life. But obviously i can spend the rest of my life with an adulteress like you. I'm leaving the country today. I'm starting a new life. I wish you all the best Kaka, you'll find a better man It was from Xaviercasmir.

I tried his number again and this time, unreachable.
