Were u by any chance in port Harcourt? I had to pull off a major road into bank premises to escape their wildness as one was brandishing a club and ordering me off the road to make way for members who were walking on both lanes- for my own right of way again?
Some practically jumped unto the opposing lane daring and compelling commuters to a screeching halt!

With a monsoon of respect to those people "fighting for their rights" I don't know where the peaceful demonstrations held In Port Harcourt because all I saw were super unruly. Market women practically hurled their wares into stores to avoid looting as they claimed.

At d same time, a limo was burnt in the US oh...that didn't seem peaceful to me. Maybe miscreants hijacked the protests or Maybe these are peaceful because the majority are women, or maybe they are more than "semi-literate"? Just wondering...
Lol. I have people who corroborate what you have said, which is partly why I wrote what I did. You can't claim to be having a peaceful demonstration and soldiers will shoot for no reason. Nigeria is a jungle but I don't think we have regressed to that level.

As for the US disturbances, the police use rubber bullets to disperse unruly protesters, but that is. USA, this is Nigeria where enforcement agents misbehave. These so-called agitators know how things are in this country yet they are daring the devil.

They brought it upon themselves.

Some mörons will never be able to comprehend what the American people are doing.

They will see this as a time waste but if you check the history of America, you will know that the country got to where it is today because of its marches.

Women got the right to vote, Blacks got the right to be treated equally, and the use of nuclear weapons were stopped because of marches like this.

Americans are not like some daft people in one backwards continent who will prefer to sit in their house and call on God to fight their poverty-stricken battles.

It is because of sacrifices like this, that is why it is possible for people like you to go over there with your backwards mentality and enjoy the same rights they do.

Most of you will kill yourself to enter there. Yet you will come online to talk rubbish about people who want a better society for themselves.

They know it is not possible for trump to leave, but with this march, they are telling their leaders that you may be in power but the people still have the power over you.

But I doubt the average Nigerian will understand, we are too busy begging baba God to pick up our call.
You can't blame the average Nigerian for not using the power of demonstrations and marches to fight for their rights when the chances of getting brutalized or at worse shot down by our trigger happy security men is very high.

The guy spoke from a very wider view but such application to our democracy is useless so I wont encourage you to copy and post this on your facebook page.

See, Nigeria is not a democratic institution that dialogue and protest work.

In 2004, a colleague was shot dead in OAU in the person of Laketu Rasheed, he died, nothing happened!

Do you know how many IPOB that has been killed over the years, those in detention like Kanu are more safe.

If anyone die, they will die for nothing, nothing will happen! There wont be any change. That's my point of view.

Well, this why they are protesting:

1- Trump had 2m+ votes less than Clinton and therefore lost the popular vote. This situation feeds the existing dislike of some for the electoral college system of US elections.

2- Trump ran a divisive campaign which if he carries through with his promises, it is expected to be detrimental to many minorities including; coloured folks, the poor, immigrants, muslims, women, LGBT etc.

3- Trump is threatening to scrap the existing world order which has guaranteed global peace since WW2. This is a scary situation for many Europeans, Japanese, Koreans etc as their very existence as independent and free peoples depend on the existing order.

4- Trump has shown disdain for the climate change campaign and called it a farce. This is alarming to all conservationists and scientists.

5- Trump has promised to scrap the Affordable Care Act and has not offered any assuring replacement plan. This poses a risk of loosing their health cover to the bottom 20million members!

6- Trump has shown strange affinity to Russia's Vladimir Putin and his ways. Putin, in recent times, has invaded Georgia and Ukraine and annexed parts of these countries. People in smaller countries are not assured that they can rely on America any more for protection against bigger rogue neighbours.

7- Trump wants to take America back to a protectionist policy which will negate existing GATT & WTO. This is sure to lead to a global economic crisis.

8- Trump needs to know that he got only 49% of the votes and therefore doesn't have a carte blanche mandate to scrap existing policies or global agreements unilaterally.

So to me, the protest is not to have him exit the office but to let him and his team know that they will not have it easy if they think they are gonna ride rough shod over everyone.

now I understand, thank you

You lied.

Majority of the people in that rally don't know why they are there - except that they hate Trump which was made possible by the left wing media.

The few who know why they are there are protesting because they are scared.

They are scared that right wing conservative Christians have taken back their country. So the protesters are scared that:

- Abortion will not be legalized in all states

- Gay rights that had been imposed on Christians by the Obama admin. will be repealed.

- No more public recognition of the artificial concept called "transgender"

- No more indiscriminate immigration to US from countries and religions that hate America

- No more hypocricy and double starndards otherwise known as political correctness.

- No more welfarism and anti-capital policies championed by Obama and his ilks.

- No more barefaced assault on American/Christian values in the name of political progressiveness and correctness.

These are the actual reason those un-American fellows are protesting. But they should not worry. They think they have monopoly on public and media staunt. They should just wait until pro-life and other far right conservative groups start their own madness.

And yet some semi-literate dafts in Port Harcourt went on a street demonstration to celebrate Trump's inauguration. The difference between these protests and the one in PH is 'legitimacy'. These protesters in US and UK have permits to hold a demonstration of this magnitude, but the Biafrans in PH obviously took on laws into their hands and went into the streets to constitute nuisance. We all know how that ended.

There is no justice in this country. We have not finished with the myriad of problems we have and these jobless IPOB youths are adding theirs. If you die for nonsense, you die for nothing.

I don't pity anyone who got shot in PH during their so called 'Trump celebration'.

Modified: Those quoting me to type rubbish are a reflection of what IPOB stands for: lawlessness. It is also an indication of why the trigger happy Nigerian army are shooting you people upandan like rabid dogs.

Of course we all need to know what's going on globally and I didn't scold you for this. My point is that the protesters aren't idiots and we should respect their views.

Of course the protests won't cut short the 45th president's mandate, no. However it will send a clear message that he doesn't have a carte blanche mandate and that will be enough to encourage those members of congress who will have to oppose some policies of the president which may be considered divisive.
