Dana operates MD (McDonnell Douglas) aircrafts they planned on replacing em with newer ones the Boeing 737 800 series in particular. Guess they've sold one of them to Imo state govt cos this is an MD its engines are mounted at the tail

Imo Air operated by Dana Air shocked Isn't this another scam? [/[quote author=chimere66 post=53085892]IMO AIR KICKS OFF; ACQUIRES BRAND NEW AIRCRAFT

Imo State is set to become the first State in Nigeria to own and operate an airline company operated by Dana Air, as the governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha leads his appointees and stakeholders in the State to take delivery of the first batch of aircrafts at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri.

The carrier named "IMO AIR" is billed to hold its own against other operators in the Nigerian aviation sector while providing enhanced revenue for the State, massive employment for Imo citizens and business opportunities for Imolites and Ndi Igbo in general.

Also in the offing is the Imo International Cargo which targets to open the Southeast up to importers and exporters of all kinds of commodities, thereby reducing the over reliance on Lagos, Kano and other international airports for the export and import of goods into the country. This initiative is no doubt a boost for the Southeast economic liberation struggle. According to the Governor, the cargo aspect of the "IMO AIR" initiative will take off by April, 2017.

Please I have one question for all the ppl that keep slamming Imo State Governor for every action he takes in the State. I may not be his fan. I am not even from the State. My question to you is:

What will you do differently from what Gov. Rochas Okorocha is presently doing in Imo State. What will be your own wonderful line of action to move the state forward and make Imo Citizenry happy?

That's definitely not a brand new plane
Re: Photos Of 'Imo Air' Acquired By Okorocha by chronique(m): 1:17pm On Jan 24, 2017
There is a fundamental problem with the black man, especially the ones that come from Nigeria. How many planes were acquired to run this airline? One? If only one, how does the government intend to recoup investment and make profit? What is the traffic by air to imo state daily? What are the possibilities of having full boarding on each trip? It's common knowledge that Nigeria has one of the most expensive aviation fuel price, and most foreign airlines stop over to refuel at Ghana cos refueling there is cheaper. Now, with the high cost of aviation fuel, the economic recession that has led to a drop in air travel due to prices of air fares soaring higher, where does this leave the state government? We haven't even factored in the percentage the operators would charge... This to me, looks like an investment made to loot the state treasury. It's just a conduit pipe to launder money.

You need to ignore some of the rants from these pained souls. The hatred and criticism of the man is more due to partisanship (ApC) than due to his actions/inactions. I can bet you, all of the people rabidly criticising this idea would have fallen over themselves to laud the idea if it was another governor from the zone.

congrats but Nigeria will never grow far with this mentality...
why must you develope "imolites" (which by the way is a very ridiculous something to be called)...
no first world country's sub regions develop themselves alone what you do is take the best people around the "world" not just Nigeria get them to run your state look at the best airports in the world a Nigerian manages one of the best airports in the UK meanwhile a guy from UK manages the best airport in UAE ... look at even football the best players on earth do not come from countries with the best leagues on earth so therefore the best leagues on earth to remain best leagues go hunting for best players world over...
Learn oh Third world learn

Crass stupidity, empty headedness and a vain attempt at stealing public funds. This road leads nowhere else but worsening poverty for the State and its peoples.

Poverty is indeed a mental exercise first before it becomes an outstanding experience. For goodness sake don't these people read. Which airline in the world makes profit consistently. Most are on subsidies, others heavily in debt. In Nigeria which airline is older than 20years. How many have lasted thirty. Which airline is in the Fortune 500 list. Who amongst the world's top twenty, thirty, forty rich list is a pure bred aviator. What is the typical contribution of the airline industry to the GDP of any typical country. Which country has been propelled out of poverty by investment in passenger aircraft.

This is just so insulting and disgusting. If they wanted to offer DANA a backdoor bailout, it is not the responsibility of State but Federal institutions and there are dozens of industries and sectors ahead on the operating tables of this economic infirmary with far better socially uplifting potentials. Whoever made this foolish decision must be held accountable for the glaringly obvious misadventure.
