If it were to be a country that respects their law and constitutions, this statement alone is enough to take off his senatorial mandate and push him out of that chamber. nonsense.

It makes no danm sense. The CBN governor can as well loot the entire foreign reserve and start an industry with the loot, right? If we legalise corruption today, only the elites who are in public office will benefit. They will loot your future and that of your children today. In the next few years, the country will be so broke that there will be nothing left again to steal.

Fighting corruption is never going to be easy but we have no alternative than to continue battling the scourge. That Buhari failed a major test in the fight against corruption by clearing Babachir Lawal doesn't mean we should then legalise corruption. Nigerians must realise that the war on corruption is one that must be won in the long run.

have you ever come across the word 'sacarsm'? The dude you quoted wrongly by writing all that epistle, was just sounding Sacarstic.

I think this makes a lot of sense. Since that's what majority of us prefer and no one wants to change his dubious ways.

You are obviously talking out of ignorance. If you actually understand the full meaning of corruption, you won't talk this way. If corruption is legalised, there'll be no life.

Speaking while making his contributing to the debate on the 2017 budget during the senate plenary on Wednesday, a senator from Ondo state, Omoyele Omogunwa, called for the legalisation of corruption in the country.

The lawmaker who spoke at the u‎pper legislative chamber, lamented that corruption was pervasive in the country, argued that it should be “legalised”.

The senator said there was corruption in the judiciary, and even within the anti-corruption ‎agencies, adding that if corruption was legalised, Nigerians who stole public funds would use them in building factories and industries in the country, instead of having them stashed away abroad.

He added that the performance of the 2016 budget should be examined first before that of 2017 is determined.

The official Twitter handle of the Senate also confirmed Omogunwa’s suggestion, writing: “Senator Omogunwa notes that Budgets doesn’t have maximal impact due to corruption. He says corruption shld be legalized/liberalized then.”

As silly as this may sound, I think Nigerians need to stop living in fool's paradise. The truth is even in Buhari (Mr. Integrity)'s administration, corruption is still pervasive. Of course, the senator probably exaggerated what needs to be done, but there needs to be a way to prevent Nigeria's money from going out to develop other countries while our own country rots away...I SMH

let me say unequivocally that Omoyele Omogunwa is a bastard from Ode Irele who got to the upper chambers of the national assembly by opportunity! His unpopular and senseless view does not represent the view of the Irele people let alone his senatorial district! please pardon him because he is under an irredeemable curse from beyond!

Corruption is a cankerworm that can't be allowed to grow beyond its present size, however, it is unfortunate that the country is under a false and unpatriotic siege at the moment.

You are quick to disown him when the problem here is not the man in question but the useless media-controlled youth we have in this country.

All of you are throwing stones at the man without understanding that the media is just for one thing and one thing only, which is sensationalism. I watched the session this morning and what the man said was totally different from what the media gave you because the media know that majority of you are too dummmb to consume whatever it is thrown at you. Sometimes I subscribed to the school of thought that says that the internet shouldn't be for everyone, especially the ones without a functioning brain to ask question.

What this man said this morning was that the government needs to fight corruption wholistically instead of playing politics with it. He said all the government does is to allege people and taint their image without going further prosecute and jail anyone. So he was rooting for a stronger approach to corruption fighting crusade. Then he suggested that if we don't do that, the govt had better legalize corruption then, at least the ones who loots the treasury will be free to invest it here knowing that no one will prosecute them.

So before you all give yourselves hypertension leading to untimely death for no reason l, this is the true stand of the man.

I just hope one day, the Nigerian youths will start using their God give gift of brain.

PS: I made this long because I know most of you wont even read it. Dumbos

i concur, corruption should be legalize, ex president jonathan once said that corruption is not stealing i also agree with him.
wen corruption was on the high side during jonathan regime everybody was enjoying, nigeria economy was stable, a poor man can eat 3 meal and stil on i beta pass my neibor gen from night till day break, minimum wage was 18k but common civil servant go stock his kitchen with all the raw foodstuff that can feed him for a month with just 5k, business was booming, banks were growing bigger, hotels were upgrading, ghana and other west african countries were under nigeria, naira was holding ground with dollars, importer were smiling even begger and mad people were getting fat but now that we are fighting corruption the reverse is the situation.
i agree wit him but ban from taking it abroad
wen our poltician steal our money they will invest it here, employ our youth and bring business opportunity to our country. the money will circulate instead of putting in a hole for fear of being probe

The Legislators are the corrupt institution who is bent on corrupting all other institutions. They are making all effort for this government not to work, because they are not free to display their loots.
This is evidenced in their rejection of the Active EFCC Acting Chairman MAGU, preventing him to be Chairman, thereby given unwarranted condition. God will catch them all.
