this one also happened in nigeria as well fed men are cutting grass around starving people for millions of naira.
They are stealing their food as well, including the soldiers. Because, I could remember that incident when policemen were preventing the soldiers from taking away the IDPs food and soldiers the soldiers got angry and shot the policemen.

Think twice before u start crying...

Don't believe anything everything u see or hear from the Internet..

Who captured the picture?
And allowed d man got away with the corn.. (the food there looks like corn)

And why would a sane person share this as a food to almost half dead human? Where does the good samaritan thinks this being would get stove or gas to cook this meal?

Think of these things now.. And tell me..

And if it's true(which I know it's not, the kid might be probably begging the man for food) why did the photographer or who ever took that pics not fight for the child? Cos from the pics here.. It's clearly known that a matured photographer might have been d one that took that shot.

I stand to be corrected!!
I can't wrap my head around this crap. Half dead you said? But not dead. You meant to say that it is better to leave half dead kid for the death by stealing his food?

The greatest mistake he made was posting this pics on the Internet..
Now he committed suicide... Cos of his hunted conscience

He couldn't do a thing to save the Child.. So why posting it online when u deff knows that u will be bullied emotionally, mentally and otherwise..

The point is, pictures like these might serve to awaken our collective consciousness to the futility of war and to the fact that that it is the most vulnerable, children, that suffer the most. A tall order, since we've been talking that talk ad infinitum, but needless conflicts caused by greed and inordinate ambition continue unabated. But Carter did what needed to be done...and paid the ultimate price.

He committed suicide right? So what's the point?

It's never enough to give... Provided you know u gave your best at that moment... Then your mind will be at ease..

Nothing is too little or too big when it comes to giving to the poor or needy..

Do the little around you.. Make sure you bless someone at least thrice a week.. U will feel fulfilled and blessed from within..

But mind you... Let your intentions be pure (don't give cos u wanna receive back) and Hey.. Posterity won't forget you.

Your moral compass is skewed?

Did you even read either versions of the story?

The official version is that he was with armed Sudanese military men that gave clear orders that he should not interfere. What more should he have done? Carry the child and get shot? Your type amazes me. Nothing is ever enough.

You still maintain your ignorance even when both accounts are clearly online to read. I don't know what to call you.

About committing suicide. Soldiers that go to victorious wars still go home and commit suicide. Anyone who saw what Carter saw and eventually tried to help but was condemned like he was would contemplate suicide and most likely give in. Don't stay holed up in your cocoon and think you know it all.

Read, inform yourself. Don't condemn good deeds.

-Lord

It is quite astonishing that for the 'lord' you call yourself, you have a bad manner of speech. You have insulted a lot of people on this thread just to pass your points.

If you were intelligent and well read as you claim, you should have learnt how to address people.

I get your point about his inability to help but Mr Right, learn how to talk to people.

The kid got to the feeding center safely, you irresponsible dimbat.

As I said you are an ignorant oaf that doesn't deserve to live.

If you can't pay attention and confirm what happened and didn't happen before hastily passing judgement, you would appear very stu*id. He fended off the vulture and ensured the child got to the feeding center. He couldn't do any more than that. And he accurately said that he wasn't sure that child would survive for long.

Have you ever visited North Korea or Cuba or any of the repressive regimes around the world? Do you know that you can't go with a camera with a resolution of more than 20m in North Korea, and when you leave your photos are scrutinized and questionable ones are deleted?

Do you know how many journalists and photographers trying to get the word out in these despicable regions get killed annually?

Or do you think if he had tried to take that child back with him and got shot by the soldiers who were under stern orders not to let him interfere, that we would have that picture?

Why not you take a camera and go to war-torn South Sudan or Somalia or CAR and take pictures and start ferrying people you feel deserve help to Nigeria you judgemental pr*ck. Let's see if you'd ever make it out of Sudan alive on your first voyage.

So Carter is the enemy now? For showing us a picture that we only hear in the stories and rarely believe?

You are despicable.

I know people like you are used to seeing burnt remains of people, crushed heads of murder victims, starving kids accused of witchcraftcy, shallow graves filled with murdered protesters. Carter was not. He couldn't stomach all the horrors he saw in Sudan and ended the depression the only way he knew how to.

Not everyone is a cold, numb, emotionally-scarred neophyte like you.

Carter has gone to a better place. That photo while drawing condemnation from harbingers of death like you also drew outrage from good people who pressured International intervention that resulted in the splitting of Sudan. While that may not have been enough, Carter saved more lives in his death than you have in your lifetime.

The world loses good people when people like Carter dies. You on the other hand would not be missed.

Clearly you've lost your mind if you mock his suicide and did not understand the restraints he had.

You guys disgust me! Read.

Instead of finding out what Carter did after the photo, you guys blindly concluded that he took the photo for fame.

Since Carter took that photo to today, more than 3 million Sudanese have died, most of them starving children (some probably eaten by vultures), hundreds of thousand have been raped. The sectarian conflict in Sudan continues to this day.

Carter risked his life and the sanctity of the First World to brace the harsh realities of the Third World. And perhaps gave the world the biggest reveal of the situation in Sudan that spurred International intervention that recently culminated in the breakup of Sudan and creation of South Sudan.

Instead of him to be celebrated, you guys are loathing him, seemingly celebrating his misfortune.

Any normal human who has seen all the things Carter saw will be scarred for life. The highest suicide rate in America is amongst military veterans. Carter saw worse.

We are in this country where more than 250 people were supposedly mistakenly killed in a bomb blast by the Nigerian Airforce and there has been no protest. What have you personally done to lend your voice to say that is unacceptable. 1 billion people go to bed hungry every day on this planet. How much have you donated to feed these people? When last did you remember these people exist?

Carter is a hero. May his soul rest in peace. And may we not lack people who dare show us things we often don't want to see or believe to be real. While people like you do their best to ridicule good and facts.

Tomorrow, you guys would end up in Church praying to a big man in the Sky, asking for a world where there are no deaths, when you guys have done nothing to help the one you're in.

Rubbish!

I find it difficult to believe you going by your earlier post of living the half dead kid for death. You lack empathy. And you are a liar!
Just because you felt it's impossible to you means it won't be possible for others..

Leave it for those that are doing it.. And don't discourage them with your words just cos u lack the zeal...

I lack empathy like you said.. But your words won't change me neither will it reduce the personality I am..

And if u can point out the post I made that lacks empathy concerning the vulture and the kid.. I may be able to address what led to such statements or the point I was trying to make.. And don't disrespect other people's opinion next time.

And calling someone a liar without evidence can get you jailed if the person in question means you that day.. Cos it makes no sense when you hate what you don't understand.
Don't call people liar or all kinds of swear words when it doesn't warrant it... Cos I haven't said a word that has disrespected your emotion.

Thanks for your time.

Have you ever imagined what would have happened if he removed his cloth, wrapped the girl and carry her to the refuge center?
.
That is what real help entails. It is just like seeing a child walking to fire, instead of removing the child entirely from the place, you only shifted the fire and walk away.
.
My summary is that, his singular act of not rendering help when it is needed most, might has haunted him leading to the suicide.
.
Please watch a film called 'Schindler list'... Something like that name... It is about world War 2 and how an Austrian who had failed in virtually all business endeavors finally succeeded during war.... Circumstances made him to render help by risking his own life protecting the Jews.. Over 1000 all in the name of creating work for them.
.
Maybe, you will learn what empathy is called not 'creating an awareness like you called it with a likely hidden agenda of obtaining fame'.
.
Salaam
you are lame.. you think the girl was the only casualty met on his way.. or you hunk he saw the lady in an amusement park.. no friend or brother in the jungle.. he was a war journalist under the protection of troops.. you except full squadron of soldiers in action to stand and wait for him to save the child first.. easier to judge than act
