Short pencil and two rubber bands.

Put the pencil over fret you wish to capo and use the rubber bands to hold it in place. Any pencil length should do the trick but shorter ones just look better.

lol Teacher ke cheesy

Ehi9ice well done but as he said, keep practicing the above and open chords. Search guitar lessons on YouTube. You'll see many teachers, pick one you like the style and follow the videos.

No problem boss.I'd do just that.Thanks.

Lool. Good job. But you don't just 'finish' practicing o. It's continuous. As regular as you can muster. Even guitar pros still practice. So, including what teacher gave you up there, I suggest you start learning open chords. (C, D, Em, etc.). Just Google the chord, to get the shape, and learn to play it. Keep practicing.

Thanks man.

Try strumming...

hello everybody!
Re: A thread for acoustic guitarist: beginners, amateurs and professionals by Elegbede205(m): 8:22pm On Jan 05, 2017
wow I must say I've improved over the years, lol. I remembered when I came into this thread as a first class beginner.
well one thing I've learnt about learning any instrument is that your music theory skills is very important, so don't neglect music theory. Nice video kilokeys!. Okay I know how to play in all keys and I know alot of chords but my hearing is one painful issue jare also I enjoy soloing(like tim pierce or jimi hendrix and the likes) than just strumming boring chords.
good to be here!

Someone taught me the basics of music theory, you can also check the internet.
when I say hearing, i mean to discern chords and also following a vocalist. But I know the sound of the chord in my head the problem is just to express it. well solution to hearing issues is more practice.

Happy new year everyone!!! I miss my guitar! I'm in the middle of major exams, and I've just ignored my guitar for months. Before then, I was making maaad progress. I had a tutor, who was pretty good. I was learning improvisation, and some jazz-type chord progressions. Chai! I wanna play again!!!! cry

Personally, I listened to and scored many songs especially on open chords. With time, the progressions came more easily even with new songs. If there's a trick to playing by ear, I'l love to learn it too.

Started Lead as well. Making out time and using a pick has been a challenge for me but we'll pull through. What I learnt for this phase is to take it slow. Use a metronome, pick a tempo (I use 70bpm) and practice jejely. There are metronome apps you can download. Hopefully, this works for us.

this is also my problem, am still waiting for my break through. Though I don't really care about soloing, If I can just bisect the chords in any song i hear and also follow it progression I will be super fine. Am currently involved in something that is time intensive and requires equal level of commitment as learning the guitar (programming). I don't really know how to balance the two equation.
