Thank you, but none of us here is putting all our eggs in a basket and also being so curious about the programme does not mean its all we got but we committed things in this and as you can see, everyone that as not been invited yet are only looking for hope and excuse to stand on and for them to think they can do it. So, let us keep the hope up, it will cost us nothing. Moreover, only Chevening can say you are not invited. We have to keep a positive mind and hope for the very best.

Health is not a priority for chevening any courses are allowed, but mostly courses that is not just about yourself, but about changes and contributions to Nigeria, e.g poverty alleviation, entrepreneurship and innovation, education for development and some health related courses relevant to Nigeria, it would be very easier to convince chevening for courses like these.

Meanwhile on Chevening Nigeria shortlisting, its not over until the old fat lady dances.

Nevertheless, let's consider other alternatives, for me am still applying to CSS with the same zeal I applied to chevening.

For those of us invited for interview, this is just the beginning, we need to out in more fire than ever cos we have limited slots to compete for.

Wishing everyone the best in their endeavors

May God help us all

Shalom

Yes o, let's not put all our eggs in one basket; the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship is still on. I personally applied for about 5 scholarships this year (Chevening, Commonwealth, Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG), African Leaders of Tomorrow (Canada), Mo Ibrahim Scholarship, Schwarzman Scholarship). It's important to spread your luck. As for Chevening, I applied for MA in Corruption and Governance at the University of Sussex and I've got an unconditional offer. I still pray they (Chevening) contact me shaa!

Na so.... Which universities did you apply to for the Commonwealth shared scholarship?

Durham University (I've got an unconditional offer already), University of Oxford, Queen Mary, University of London, University of Liverpool, and University of Exeter.

Ok. Durham is on my list too. Energy and society.
I have offers from Aberdeen, sheffield-hallam, and reading.
Waiting for LSE, Aberystwth, Bangor and Stirling.

Anyway na way Bro. Keep digging. We must strike gold. In a way I prefer CSSS to chevening. That 2 year mandatory return home policy is annoying. I will return home of course, but I would want to go back to school ASAP.

LOL Warwick even have their own page... Go to http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/apply/pgadmissions/applicants/unabletopay/ and fill the form as accurately as possible.

I think you should select most of the options there. Anyway there are instructions so read them thoroughly before you start. Enjoy.

Please guys I need your help. I have gotten notification for Interview in my home country Nigeria.
But the problem is that I am currently working in the middle east and will not be allowed to travel. please what can I do? can an interview be rescheduled to next year program?

Also, for those who have gone this path, do you advise I quit my job and go for the interview? Does the interview stage guarantee a 100% chance of getting scholarship? I am highly confused on what to do.

First of all, I would like to congratulate you for the interview invite.. it means that your application carries some weight in their eyes.
Anyways.. back to the issue at hand... do you have any other scholarship that you have applied to?
secondly... how high paying is the job you are doing in the ME?

an invite to a Chevening interview doesn't necessarily mean that you have an automatic scholarship spot.. the process is extremely competitive at this stage. The commission would like to ascertain whether what you put on paper actually correlates with reality, so if you are confident of putting up a good show, and your salary/wage over there isn't humongous, I would sincerely advise you to come on down and face your destiny... grin grin grin grin grin

If I were in your shoes.. this is what I would have done... I for one am no longer interested in the Chevening scholarship anymore.. even though it was the first one I applied for... if you had applied to the CSSS then some universities may forward their list of nominees to the CSC around mid April or early may... baba if I get nominated then Chevening interview invite will just be for bragging rights sake.

Its your call anyway.. Cheerios! cheesy

Given that you can't seem to squeeze out at least 3 days from your job, I very much doubt it is a "high paying" job, at least in Western or Middle Eastern terms. However, relative to Nigeria, it may well be.

That said, the real decision is yours. Are you willing to risk it all? Do you really believe in your proposal in Chevening application to risk your job for it? If you're risk averse, then stay put my brother. This is because if you're not too keen on the Chevening, if you attend the interview and don't make it eventually, and still probably lose your job in the process, it may leave you bitter...that is not good.

Also, really make efforts to see if you can get yourself out of the office for at least three days.Impossible is nothing. Ask questions. Massage Egos. Fall sick sef on those days grin grin
