Yes, I'm among the 10 AIG finalists. We are waiting for Oxford to reduce us to 5.

I applied too, bu5 haven't heard anything from them yet. Could it he because the offer of admission I have is conditional and I haven't done English language proficiency Exam.
Am keeping my fingers crossed anyways.

Don't despair. I hope you have other plans lined up?

Oh yes I do. I also applied for the CSSS. The last hope grin grin

Someone said the reason for my regret mail from Chevening could be because I applied without a Language Test score. Ironically, my IELTS came in same day (yesterday). If it is something else, well, I have put in the work. You don't get shot for effort.

Lastly, someone should please restore my confidence by telling me I don't necessarily need to have graduated with a first class to make it at this scholarship cheesy cheesy...

The truth is a first class degree is an advantage when it comes to scholarship opportunities. But I think that for the csss, the universities are more influential in the decision making process. The csc will just veto their nominations.

Also the career plan essays and the development Esaay carry a lot of weight. You want to be able to convince them that you garrit!

Lastly, please find people who will write super references for you. There might be reasons why you graduated with a 2.1. Hopefully your academic references should be able to expantiate on that. My problem with Nigerian professors is that they are always bigger and busier than God. So find a friendly one, with whom you still have good rapport
You might even draft your recommendation letter yourself and arrest him for one day.

Hi guys,

I have a little problem. On most of my offers of admission so far, there's a final Bsc certificate condition attached.

The thing is that certificates are only given during convocation ceremonies, and the last convocation we had was in 2009, when I gained admission.

How do I convince the admissions teams?

Thank you for your response.

Your point about the Essays and references are as legit as the blackness of my knuckles.

Please what do you mean by this:
The csc will just veto their nominations.
?
Or do you mean "vet"?

Lol.

The thing is that once you are nominated by the university to the csc you are almost looking at a scholarship slot. Except you are a reserve nominee, you're an automatic recipient once you've been nominated.

That's what I meant when I said veto.

Is there a way you can get attestation letter in lieu of certificate from your school? This can still speak for your certificate.quote author=dossylvanus post=53494452]Hi guys,

I have a statement of result. It is letterheaded and has been stamped by the then registrar of the school.

I assume you already have a transcript....Explain your special situation to them. Alternatively, you can get a copy of the statement of result notarised while doing the explanation. I am sure they will understand, or give you further information on what to do...yours is a special case outside your control. They certainly aren't expecting you to call for convocation, are they?

Yes I have an official transcript. Signed and stamped as well.
I will start contacting them. Or I may tell the agents that applied to some schools on my behalf to do so.

The truth is... You don't know what's going on at this stage...

Chevening has given the middle of February for notifications on status of applications. So I advise that you relax and wait till then. Today is 7th. We should know our stand in about a week's time.

The thing is having high BP over this scholarship isn't the best. Some people will be sent regret mail even if they submit unconditional letters, wonderful essays and perfect English language test scores.

This is a highly competitive scholarship and no single factor can be said to be the decider.

If it's your turn to smile, you definitely will. It is also wise that you look at other scholarships as well... Spread your risk.

Enjoy.
