Meet the Oleles



My name is Madame Bimbo Olele, I am short, dark skinned woman with a croaked tooth. I am plump with a protruding stomach and fat legs. The only thing attractive about me was my big bum-bum and hips but now it has sagged, it is almost at my knees now but I no send.



I have six talented children, don’t worry you will meet them soon.



Sulia- (20 years old) she is my first born, she is very talented in gossiping and abusing. Her ears are like antenna, her ears can automatically connect to any gossip going on even when she is not physically there. Her razor mouth has put her into trouble more times than I could remember.



Sofiat_ (18 years old) she has changed her name to Sophie but she is called free giver by all in the neighborhood. For a long time I thought it meant she was a nice girl until the day I found out that it meant she would open the heaven’s gate to whoever has as low as N200.



Muka (17 years old) He is a skinny boy with a very big head. His head is bigger than the rest of his body, he can hardly move about because of the size of his head. He cannot even look up without two of his siblings helping him to support his head. But he loves watching out for Aero-planes so you can imagine the problem we have with him.



Rokibat_ (15 years old) she is a fat plum girl with a croaked tooth just like me and bow legs, her legs are almost touching the ground. This one, her hands are always scratching her, there is no where you will hide something that she won’t find it. Sometimes when her father brings home a new cloth, he starts beating her in advance because he knows it was only a matter of days before she steals it and she would sell it to the okrika selling malam down the street. We always beat her in advance for items that are yet to be missing.



Tajudeen (13 years old) He is the most promising child out of my children but he is the male version of Rokibat. He can eat the whole house and not be satisfied, he can steal money from a safe with a broomstick, he can unlock a door with a pin and there is always a spoon in his pocket- he is always ready to eat.



Jumai_ (10) She is the baby of the house and she still bed-wet, she has long throat and she is always begging money and food from neighbors and strangers.



We live in a single room, in a face- me –I face- you old dilapidated building. Our room is so small that sometimes we lap ourselves when sleeping, but that is only when we have visitors. Anywhere you are before night comes that is where you will sleep even if it is in the little corner we keep our potty. I sell fish, I have a primary school certificate and I have a husband and six talented children- what more can I ask for?

But I have three very big problems.



The first problem is my husband.



The Second problem is still my husband.



The third problem is also my husband.



My husband is a very handsome and light skinned man, all the women in our compound always smile at him and they walk very slowly whenever they see him. That is the first problem.



The second problem is that my husband is very lazy. He can never keep a job even for thirty minutes.



The third problem is that my husband is very stingy; ordinary gold circle corn-done he cannot buy. He will be using white sugar nylon, even to release sometimes na war because he does not want to waste his protein. My husband soaks garri with salt, he will remain the soaked garri and cover it. Nobody dares to drink it.



We don’t even have rats in our house because they got tired of nibbling on our toes and feet. There is no food for us to eat, not to talk of rat.
