There are good and bad people in every region and tribe even the devil himself shows up at heaven once in a while, our diversity ought to be our strength if we harness the positives rather than waste precious time and energy on the negatives
The decay in standard of educ as pointed out by the op is a serious issue, just like decay in other national infrastructures making it look like we as a people cant govern ourselves efficiently,if we put the blame on the military administrations of the past we may not be entirely wrong given the fact we fared better...mostly though, prior to military take over which is understandable. In view of that fact the need for a return to true federalism cant be overstated, ideally sec schools should be run by local govt councils while state educ board involvement should be limited to monitoring and ensuring standards are maintained; likewise in other aspects of govt
LGC should be the focal point of govt for grassroot devt

Abeg if you get picture of 103 barrack post make I see my former terrain. It has been long time!

Meanwhile why is it still called 103 barracks, are 103 still there?

If yes they have been there longer than any battalion, I think it used to be 204, and 204 left after the Life in Mogadishu then came 103.

Anyways, if you mind as a favor just small picture. The last I heard, the primary and secondary schools there are eye-sore and the life is not what it used to be. I guess gross mismanagement is a Nigerian thing.

Abeg no mind my ranting, just photo if you get.

. Water is a big problem: As a Lagos born, bred, ‘teaed’ and ‘jamed’ young man; scarcity of water was what adversely affected me the most. Pipe-borne water is arguably the cheapest thing in Lagos (?) where a 25 litres keg goes for as little as #10. In some places in Enugu, the same 25 litres keg goes for as much as #50. I served and lived inside the Military Barrack (103 battalion of the gallant, noble and professional Nigerian Army), corps members suffered a lot of hardship during the dry season, as the price of water is usually jacked up by those that sell inside the barrack.
My take on this u see problem here but i see investment opportunity.can any unemployed graduate take up this challenge and profer SOLUTION
Meet BOI get a loan and start water supply/ distribution. A loan of 3mlm or less can go a long way. Get a portable water tanker and get list of 100 customer to supply on daily base. But the only down side.its seasonal biz. During raining season biz will be slow

If I become resourcefl, I must have a house in Enugu.

That place is mini london.

there is something about it that makes you become civilized immediately while you step in. Its as akin to dropping all your Nigeria sins and taking on a new mantle once you step into the city

I've never seen anybody who stayed in Enugu and didn't enjoy the state. Especially for guys.

Enugu has some downsides though - For example, Enugu has no nightlife, after eight o'clock everybody don go sleep. Also, Sundays in Enugu can be boring as hell because Enugu people try to be more catholic than the pope.

Asides that Enugu is a nice place and probably the best place in the south east.

Igbos generally hate lazy people no matter the tribe you are from. I especially can't stand laziness both mentally and physically.
The only Yoruba state that is almost industrious as the Igbo's are the Ekiti people. No wonder they are the only yorubas I can call friend!

This post is what we need in the Southern part of Nigeria. There is no LOVE lost between Igbos and Yorubas. All things being equal these two group of people adore each other. Do not believe some things you read in the tabloids. My best friends anywhere have always been Yorubas, and I have never lived in the West.
You are right. I served with some Igbo ppl and I found them to be very lovely. A sizeable portion of my best friends are Igbo people. When I see the crap of bigotry on nairaland I just remember my Igbo friends and I would suddenly feel better

I agree with the op.

I went to the east on the "defensive" but started making friends right from the airport each time I go.

Lots of pretty girls and they seem to love mini skirts and dresses a lot.

Everyone was eager to give me information on my location and its history.

The people actively play their part in the development of their cities but their Govt seem to lag behind, hence lots of nice buildings in undeveloped areas......just waiting to be tarred to change the whole environment.

I kept meeting people that told me to hit them up on my return so that they can show me how to have a good time.

I surely look forward to going back soon for a longer period and will take pics and keep updates on my stay there.

I wonder where the bigoted Igbos on this forum come from, they must be the keke napep drivers and shop attendants that aren't happy with their lives, hence resort to bigotry to feel better.

Thank goodness I always meet cool igbo folks whenever I go.
