Ask if the Nigerian youths have what it takes to rule this nation and one will be tempted to say “No”.
But for a few number of young, intelligent, disciplined and incorruptible Nigerians we have met in a couple of months, we would have concluded there is no hope for Nigeria anywhere.

In the defense of our presupposition, we can take a hint from the social media and the most discussed topics. The social media being a powerful information tool is mostly engaged by the young people (Ages 18 – 35, and maybe 36 – 45).

What then is our focus? What are the categories of interests?
1) Entertainment, Celebrity Gist, Sports, Bets, Fashion etc
2) Only a negligible fraction of the young Nigerians are really concerned about this nation’s wellbeing and intend to do something about it.
3) Many discuss partisan politics (supporting the old thieves); engage in tribal fights, religion bigotry etc
4) Many of those who will claim to be interested in the governance cum development of this nation are only about criticizing, blaming and insulting the current leadership.
Now we ask, with the categories of young Nigerians stated above do we think this nation has hope?
It can be mostly disturbing to me that many of those who ought to stand up and fight (with wisdom) for their rights continue to air their supports for the supposed corrupt and myopic leaders
We have resulted into fighting online for those who know nothing or care less about us.

Many of us live a life of laziness, dubiousness and complain.
A picture stormed the internet some days ago showing the likes of Ojukwu, Obasanjo, Soyinka etc sipping and laughing together several years ago.
These men were in charge in their prime and whatever they did (whether well or badly) is resultant of our current predicament.

We still feel comfortable with our great-grandfathers driving us while we take the comfort zone spot on the back seat.

Oh Young Nigerians! When will you wake up?
Those oldies will never leave until we make the move.
We own the social media already – let us use it to our advantage.
*We hope this drives us; it has already begun with some of us*
*Let us be responsible for once!*

*The revolution is here!*

You are making alot of sense and there is meaning to your views, but the problem with the youths of this country is lack of guts.

Yahaya bello of kogi state is a youth, he was given an opportunity but he blew it up. Go to kogi and see the mess he has made out of that state.

Another issue is that of religion. I believe in God, i worship Him and i practice my religion perfectly. However from sociological and psycholigical poin view, i cannot deny the fact that religion is hindering our progress as a nation in general.

Until nigeria youths are released from the claws of imperialism and neocolonialism, lets kiss this hope good bye

No doubt your words are full of realism but when there is a ray of hope, don't you agree that it's nice to fan the embers of unity, progress and good leadership across our ethnicity and religious divides.

All we want is a New Nigeria clearly stated in our vision which you can't see from our signature. Nothing less!

I believe that we can change the destiny of our nation if the young people can begin to think new thoughts about the nation, and take new actions. The task is great, but I have faith that we can. I stand with NNV

you are right once again. The last general elections thought me a lesson i would like to forget.

I agree that the vission and mission of the nigeria youth should speak the same language and practice same religion which is of course 'using today to make tomorow much more better' i know it wont be easy.

But never say never or never say die

One thing is certain, there must be a leading force.

The Nigerian youths self-esteem has been badly dented so much that they feel those spots are for their grandfathers. There is already a preformatted mediocrity that will require a force of enlightenment to break it.

Its like a horse tied to a stake for a very long time. Even when the leash is removed, it takes time for it to realize it is free.

No one will break us from these subjugation; we have to arise intelligently and take advantage of the social media and youthful strength.

As it is said, half of a problem is solved when you realize there is a problem. The question however is how many youths know they're in a serious problem?

When getting safety drillings at ppmc Abaji yesterday, I was told that fire outbreak is first fought by preventing it and when the fire bypasses that preventive measure, next thing to do is to project the nozzle of the extinguisher towards the BASE and not the TOP, of wherever the fire might have broken out from. The problem starts when you don't know the point of outbreak.

Good to know we know our problems, good to know we know the point of outbreak from tribalism, religious fanaticism to the host of others. Next is to use our extinguisher, our collective diverse knowledge within the NNV house to attack the base of these problems. I believe NNV can do it, I see NNV doing it, I see caring Nigerians doing it.

each time i read comments from your likes, i feel this great hope. I had the opportunity of working with alot of youths during the 2015 elections and i was so disapointed that i took a decision not to ever participate in active politics ever again.

Hmmm....

Well I don't know what you experienced with those youths but let me boastfully say you cannot imagine the brains up here in the NNV.

I confess that until now, I have never witnessed a collection of brilliant and deeply versatile young men proffering succinct solutions to the decay of this nation.

I got stuck immediately!

Good day my brothers and sisters.
I would really love to point out that most Nigerian youths are actually hard working and strong willed. The point is that most of us have lost focus and there by running around chasing shadows.
Please allow me to give an example of Nnamdi Kalu he is a Nigerian youth I believe if he had directed his struggles in the right direction Nigeria would have been seriously shaking. Instead of directing his will power to strengthen his fellow youths on reasons to come together and fight a system that is feeding fat on the struggle ,pain and patience of Nigerian. He is busy fighting to divide the country there by dividing his own strength too.
Let's think about it if Babangida could come out boldly to say the Nigerian Youths has nothing to offer that alone was enough to stair the wheels of Nigerians but funny how it was quickly pushed aside. He Babangida did not know that the implementation of these his words was that as a Nigerian father he had failed as a father and as a youth.
Please in all I would really love our youths to please redefine our focus and we would definitely see the impact.
I love NNV if you our not in this group then please try to get on board so as to design a new strategy and direction for the future of our beloved Nigeria.
We stand together stronger that standing disunited.

I saw youths willfully supporting Buhari in 2015 and I knew it was over for Nigeria. Some were donating money for him and these were supposedly educated youths with university degrees.
Forget it, Nigeria is gone.

Well when there is so much energy and will without direction it results into the above you stated.

This movement serves as mind renewal catalyst as well as a confidence booster for the young Nigerians.

My thoughts and behavior have changed from what it used to be months ago.

Great article. ... The youths have a lot of challenges in this country. Have little achievement in comparison to older generations who face a far difficult environment to succeed. Truly our values as a country is broken, until we can have a great value system to aspire to we might not really be ready to make Nigeria a place we will all be proud of.

I believe the time to begin to make our drive and vigour count is now! We have stayed long enough on this mountain of avoidable depravity, on which we have been chained by wanton actions and inactions of our past leaders and the bulk of the present one.

They just don't care and we that are mostly affected by their heartlessly greedy self aggrandizement, the Youths will rather be sponsoring petitions to NBC to ban a commercial venture on TV already rated 18 by its producers instead of utilising same energy to insist that at least one of the already exposed looters be prosecuted if at least as a kind of deterent to intending looters.

I think its time we go from making empty noises on platforms like this and other social media. The time for action is now!!!
