In 2009 when I was in Ife, some bank robbers came to Lagere and were shooting sporadicaly. Ife men went and brought down their 'items' used for the Ife/Modakeke war from where they hung them thinking the Modakake war had stated again. It was these Ife men that caught some of the robbers before the police came.

As for the soldiers to be drafted, they are majorly Hausa/Fulani. Their guns are useless in Ife.
