But me being a Christian, am afraid of having a bullet rip through my body, being smashed up in a car accident, drowning in any large body of water, being stabbed to death, falling off of some sort of building, being in an earthquake etc.
I would prefer to pass in my sleep..but I don't get to choose that fate.
I am a human (although a Christian) who has anxiety and fears at times. When that happens, I must pray for God to take away the fears...and give me a spirit of peace.
The superstition thing, I'm finding out, is real to those who practice it in many foreign countries.
But you can't fault a Christian who (in his/her mind) chose the less violent of the two choices. That, of course, is another topic for another time though.

It's psychology. And when you really think about it, it is same psychology that makes belief in witchcraft thrive.

E.g you said you are afraid of car accidents. Now choose, would you choose that I drive you in a car and intentionally crash the car to an on coming trailer? Or shld I place a charm on a vehicle and tell you that charm will cause you to have an accident?
When faced with a sure physical means of death and a spiritual means, every sensible person would choose the spiritual because somehow we know we have nothing to fear. The fear is imaginary. But no one will choose the physical means because it is so sure, death is certain and we know no God would save us.

Anyways, a similar scenario once happened in my sch too. A Muslim brother told me he was going to take me to a malam because I disagreed with him on the fact that SPIRITS don't exist.

He said the malam do drive out iska or ALJANUs from people and that the malam will command the ALJANUs to slap me so I will really believe.

I obliged to follow him there. But I then asked him a simple question, thus;
"DO YOU BELIEVE goD exist"?

He replied in affirmative. Then I told him to jump down from a storey building believing the so called goD will save him.

He became mute and disappeared.

For where you keep the Aljanu? If Aljanu dae slap people truly as confessed, i would have been deaf by now because while in secondary school, (though I was naive then and believed these Aljanu were real),the toilet close to my class was the so called HQ of them Aljanus. Ok, so I was in a public place sometime last week and we were watching a movie on African Magic. In the movie, some occult men were using their powers to kill their victims and everyone watching the movie were mumbling prayers such as.

It even turned to an arguement on how potent such powers are. So I asked them,

100% of people there chose to be attacked with spiritual powers. And we all laughed.

For me, none moves me, same thing the Bible Christians and characters. It's another thing if the choice is between God and a gun. I'd rather anything attack me than God attack or fight me. But for gods, forget them already. Abi i should attack them instead.
