You dont need to have anyone in Canada to visit the place. All you need is your hotel reservation bookings and strong ties to your home country.

Ok thanks, I work with a government agency, is that strong enough considering that I have never traveled out of the country

It's enough, as your a gainfully employed; although any other thing like investment or family can do too.

I would say so. I filled the imm 5257 form for my mom last month and I completely didn't see the "any other country" on that form. I had answered NO and would have submitted that app form like that if I didn't come on this thread the night before to ask a totally unrelated question and happen upon a post by someone about that particular question. I quickly reviewed the form and realised I had answered No.
On the other hand, I have NEVER missed that question or found it to be ambiguous on the UK visa form. I have also applied for other visas to other countries and haven't missed that statutory question either.

It will be a good suggestion for ircc to split that question into 2, one asking for refusal of entry or visa denials to Canada and the other for other countries.
jayfierce:
Canada: Have you ever been refused a visa or permit, denied entry or ordered to leave Canada or any other country?

UK: Have you been refused a visa for any country including the UK in the last 10 years?

Maybe rearranging that sentence would help as you suggest but can you truly say that's the reason many answer NO instead of YES?

Genuinely, I like the way you write, my kind of person! Wish IMM and IRCC especially were written in capitals though.... #NeatAndSoundCommunication

Hello everyone

I'm an international student in the US and I applied for a TRV yesterday.

I think I made an error on the TRV application form (IMM5257E) regarding the start date of my immigration status in the US.

I put in the earliest admission date on my I-20 instead of the day I actually entered the US, which was 2 weeks later.

Is this grave? What do I do? I'm freaking out bad.

Hi. I think I remember you from the pr thread. How are things these days? I suggest you make use of a case specific enquiry form on their website as well as send an email to the visa office in charge of your application.

Please urgent response needed. I've travelled to US 3 times on tourist visa, had a child there. The 4th time I was denied entry because I had excess luggage of things to sell and visa cancelled. Now I applied for Canada visa and was refused based on *travel history *. . .what should I do?
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by kokorita: 6:57am On Apr 20, 2017
@ gbday the chance of you getting the visa is very very low. Unless its your present job that will sponsor you and family. And all expense paid by them( company) Or. I will advise you build up your travelling history By visiting other countries like uk, Dubai , southafrica , usa ). You can plan for them and travel. Well!!!! That what worked for me . May be other gurus in the house will have there own input. Build ur travel history and finances. Shikina grin grin shocked cool

Wife, two kids - not bad, particularly if they are not on this trip with you! How many years have you put into the job? What level are you at? How are your finances? Any properties/assets to your name/family? What does your wife do too? It would have helped if you had travel history though, but not compulsory.

So unfortunate! Same way somebody I know was denied entry a few years back. In his own case, he had his certificates in his hand luggage which he wanted to give a friend who wanted to assist him secure a job in an American firm which has its branch office in Lagos. They always recruited from their hq in US and his friend was already an employee in one of their US offices. He was accosted by CBP and asked to declare what he had in his hand luggage, like say the CBP use juju, lol. Since he couldn't defend those certificates convincingly, he was denied entry. He reapplied a few years later but before he did, he had written to the embassy, using a return paid courier explaining what happened. He did something smart, which was tantamount to lies anyway. He did the same when interviewed by the CBP at the POE but they were not convinced enough. In the letter, he stated that all his certificates were always kept in that hand luggage at home so, it didn't occur to him that he had not taken them off as he arranged his luggage hurriedly, due to time constraint . Since his certificates were always in that bag, unfortunately he travelled alongside the documents unknowingly. The embassy replied him and asked him to reapply if he wishes and convince the VO as the visa he was holding didn't permit him to seek employment . He reapplied, still went with the reply letter from the embassy. Fortunately, the VO asked if he notified the embassy upon arrival and he said yes, showed him the reply letter. He got his visa. Your case is a bit similar here. You didn't have the appropriate documents that could enable you do a legitimate business in usa but you took along stuffs to sell. If I were you, I'd have couriered those items ahead of my arrival in the usa, giving the implication if found in my luggage. Even if I'd be billed much by the courier, I'd have done the costing before fixing selling prices. Did you tell the CBP that those items were for sale? In my opinion, you need to get your US visa back first, before you reapply to canada and make sure you visit usa and return. That could give you a bit of leverage and points by the time you reapply to canada. when it comes to travels and visa matters, we need to always be very careful and endeavour not to flout the laws guiding the particular visa we're holding because not everybody has that opportunity, which when abused, could cost us much. Good luck

Please someone should Advice me

I want to apply for Canada Tourism Visa, obviously, i am having mindset to go there and work so I might be wrong in the kind of Visa I said.

I am so scared of going through agents, because most are dubious, the last one I went to meet made me realize that Canada is celebrating 150yrs anniversary so e would be processing it by means of me going for the anniversary and from there I will find my way...

Beside, I humbly seek for advice, suggestions on how best I can apply (I have read over 40 pages of this thread, but I just need a particular guideline), am a freelancer, I don't work for any particular body or organization so I don't have employers letter, I don't have families over there, My bank statement should be okay (base on what I've been reading on this thread).

What are the documents I should prepare ? Any links that will direct me?

Thanks in advance!

Did you state that you were refused entry into the USA?

Luggage is scanned upon entry into the USA and the contents are made known to the officer at POE. Same applies to Canada. They often ask you questions based on that information

Since your real intention is to go there and work, why not check if your profession is captured in the express entry program?

Also, if you decide to go purely for visiting, you would need to show strong ties. Job, family, Asset, responsibility......etc, are examples of strong ties.

Any links ? Any guidelines or procedures you might advice me to follow.
