alignacademy: My pleasure. I'm surprised people don't seem to read know too much about constitution or how derivation works. The Minister of Mines mentioned this fact in an interview like a few months ago. It's not about oil. |

ZombieTAMER: Yes....two NEW contrapitons OF SEVERAL TRIBES AND TONGUES from one? With all the problems Nigeria had , now in two countries.(And the same old Muslims vs Christian divides too). And would Southern Nigeria allow Northern Nigeria export raw materials through its ports for free? Would you?And if you don't, will that not create crisis? And will it solve resource control issues....and domination of minority tribes by the majoirty? Shebi Igbos and Yorubas will allow Niger Delta 100% resource control? I don't like this contraption called Nigeria....but all the alternatives are worse. |

chiscodedon: That is why you Nigerians should pay more attention to what goes on in your state and LGA Since this Nairaland started....people come here and shout Obasanjo/Yaradua/Jonathan/Buhari.....and don't look at their states and LG...where the stealing is just as bad. |

9jakohai: Most Nigerian worship their governor it's pathetic. They are less transperent that Federal Government. A good example is Rochas saying I'll give account for the money spent my administration spent after my term is over. The LG are being choked by governors but they are have same transpency issue. Did you guys noticed how easy it is to arrived at this 13% derivation and its implementation without much ado? This is because most northern States are the key beneficiaries. Assuming that it's for the benefit of Niger Delta and Ndigbo now, 'land mass dichotomy', 'Senate could have waited donkey years to pass it like PIB'. Nevertheless, it's a welcome development. But let our govt be guided with the core principles of equality, transparency, justice in the distribution of our common wealth. That's all. |

Newmanluckyman: Maybe long term but for now the South States are. Most mining in North illegal mines. This revenue will help them long term channel it towards education, farming and research. |

I find it weird people seem so opposed to their state getting extra revenue. If your worried they going to waste it lobby them the fix the issue. There's solutions to problems like this. 3 Likes |

chiscodedon: That is not true for all states. Go to AKS and see what they've done. Same for CRS when they were 'oil producing'. Everyone picks on Bayelsa when they want to identify a state that they feel has been wasteful but that place was a backwater with no development 20 years ago. I think if we're going to talk about waste we need to talk about the big two - Rivers and Delta state. Rivers in particular has been very wasteful. |
Re: FG Secures 13% Derivation Mining Revenue For States by mmsen: 6:02pm On Apr 26, 2017 |
Blue3k: They should be getting more. People talk about states wasting money but the FG is as bad and they do nothing justify the amount that they get. |
