Qasiim:

Morning Bro,Maybe I am not asking my question properly.I now know that SN is the most current and probably better for new vehicle. My question is,Is SM inferior
Inferior to me means fake or sub-standard.I don't know much about cars let me use tech that I know a little to try to ask my question.
The newest iPhone @ this point is iPhone 7.Does this make make the iPhone 6 "inferior"
If you are conversant with Aliexpress ,you can find an iPhone 7 with android 4.4.2 O.S for like $100 and there about usually referred to as clone.
My question is the original iPhone 6 inferior because it is an older model ? or is this iPhone 7 clone with android 4.4.2 OS not the inferior one ?
Its not inferior by its own standards, that said, the SN is more superior to the SM rated oils.

Do you only put 1litre fuel to know this stat?

Replace cat, you'd be fine.

@kingreign...nope. its simple calculation...10ltrs takes me as far as 100kms on d odometer trip. the car design on d average uses 7.8ltrs/ 100kms within town but lesser on d xpress like 6.8ltrs while driving at 100km/hr speed. so changing d cat cud cost how much bro?

Replacing cat wont give u that significant appreciable fuel gain that might expect .Look for a professional auto diagnostics centre that have the necessary analytic skills to check vehicle power train using scan tool live data to see through any other issue that might be responsible. Using DTC code is not sufficient enough for comprehensive diagnosis

Bros, what else does he need to find out when already its given him a code and its also telling on his MPG?

A P0420 or P0430 is a cat code, assuming he HD done live scan and inspected the cat and manifold area for leakage and found none, you'd expect him to waste more money to carry out needless proof when already he has found concrete proofs of inefficiency in cat?
I just taya for this your every day singing of competent professional testing o. sad sad

If you are in Lagos ,u came to my workshop @ Gbagada .I will give u a free diagnosis to fish out the fish out the culprit that is causing high fuel consumption to prove to u that it not due to absence of catalyst.I like proof ,i don't engage in endless argument without practical proof.

NL Auto mechanics,

I greet you specially.

I had an accident with my 2002 Toyota Camry V6 November last year. The car skidded off the road into a bush and the exhaust got extensively damaged with grass and leaves tucked into it. Catalytic converter, exhaust pot were replaced and some welding work was done.

Since then, fuel consumption has gone over the roof and scanning has revealed p1135 (A/F Sensor Circuit Heater Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 1) and p1155 (A/F Sensor Circuit Heater Malfunction Bank 2 Sensor 1) error codes.

I do not believe the A/F sensors have gone bad cos it's unlikely for the two A/F sensors at different locations to go bad at the same time. Also, the same p1135 and p1155 codes were present when I first got the car and you said I might need to change the sensors but the error codes disappeared after exhaust work and the sensors were not changed.

I've had 2 other panel beaters/mechanics examine the exhaust and test drive, and they all tell me, "Oga, your exhaust is fine. No let anyone take you chop". They say there's no popping sound when starting the car, no visible leaks and the exhaust is breathing fine.

However, the slight stalling I experience when accelerating (not all the time and not too often), the increased grunt, decreased power & acceleration and the now excessive fuel consumption make me believe all is not well with my car. (Car did not have these issues before the accident).

I don tire, and I wan park the car as the fuel consumption don dey dig hole for my pocket. I'll be glad if I can be pointed in the right direction to get the problem fixed once & for all.

NB: I am in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

@semid4lyfe

Why don't you start from scratch, fix your AF sensor problem that could cause high fuel consumption nah. Then test the exhaust by driving your car up a hill believe me there are some leaks you will never notice on a plain ground even if you Rev the engine high. If there is a leak in the exhaust and you drive uphill, you will notice the sound then.

I don't think its an AF sensor problem. When I newly got the car and Gazzzuzz checked it out, it had the same p1135 and p1155 AF sensor codes and he said I might need to replace the sensors but he'll give a definite assessment after doing some work on the exhaust. When he completed the exhaust work, the error codes disappeared so the sensors were not replaced eventually.

The car had no issues before the accident. Also, I used a friend's scanner to scan the car 2 days before the accident and there were no codes. It was only after the accident and the exhaust work that the A/F error codes appeared and the car started guzzling fuel like mad and started having performance issues.

The A/F sensor is an expensive fix so before I throw money at it, I want to be absolutely sure its not the exhaust.

the AF sensors are oygen sensor, you should probably have three as your layout is identical to my car. If the car had an accident affecting the exhaust, then the oxygen sensors would have taken a hit. The best bet is to start from scratch like i said online diagnosis isnt the case you need a technician that can test the sensors and its wiring first before moving on to other things. Also confirm the pipe used in exhaust rebuild is of good quality.

Definite diagnosis cannot be done online ,physical Inspection is required. Look for a competent technician to check this up for you .You need to find a professional that can analyse live data ,perform actuation test.Looking for DTC code to make a diagnosis is amateurish and confusing atimes, professional plays around with live data.

The codes are specific (HEATER CIRCUIT)

The following could have happened.

1.Harness was yanked from socket by force during the accident, and the panel beater installed them back wrongly.

2. O2 sensors damaged.

3. O2 sensors not connected

4. Engine ecu not powering heater circuit on.
O2 sensor.

For analysis of these conditions you would have to have a scanner and a multemeter.

How far is PH from abakiliki?

why can't we get competent tech here in ai?

@honmusa, wen the competent professionals are scarce, what do we do?

sometimes just showing us the right way can go a long way in helping.
just my 2centz.
imagine 5hrs to get a proper tech.

semid I'd have advised u to locate a Mech hu can do a swap from anyone u know hu uses ur exact vehicle.
swap known working AF sensor from same car at least to eliminate some factors, I'm in ai, would have loved to do the swap but my vehicle is 2azfe California spec.

nb I own a scanner n a multimeter, thanks to Gazuzz who prescribed them sometime ago.
nna mehn since then, its been diy all the way. except I dont wanna get my hands dirty.
imagine a kazeem in site suggesting that one crackling sound was my timing chain. I went home early from work, took my time and diagnosed the noise...guess what? it was my Ac compressor bearing. I went back to the same Mech with the sound just to convince him that he never completed Mech school. long story short, he did the bearing change and now is always calling me wen water don pass garri for im shop. I'll soon start charging them for scan and diagnosis cos I've been 90% accurate.

Greetings gurus. Pls recently my car (toyota camry pencil light automatic) broke down and refused to move. On putting it on drive or reverse, it makes a clanking sound. my mechanic said it was the gearbox, which I changed immediately. But after changing the gearbox, I have noticed the car refuses to accelerate beyond 80km /hr. I was told to clean d gearbox filter which I have done bt no improvement. Wat could be the problem? Ur advice really needed.

@semid, I'm on leave and in owerri, will be in Lagos next week, then back to ai in next week as well. just chill I'll soon be back and we'll sort out that mpg. it ain't rocket science.

confirm multimeter reading of sensor heater circuit, confirm multimeter reading of harness, if both check out then we contact Gazuzz for further assistance....
the guy sure die I tells u. it'll be sorted out in lesser time than anticipated.
poor mpg are caused by a lot of things, most of which will throw up a cel.. hopefully urs are specific codes, na small tin.
