My friend, Ikwerre people answer tochukwu too. Ikwerre said they are not Igbo.

Today people in delta will identify as Ukwuani but yet Nzegwu and Ukwuani man coup was blamed on the whole Igbo nation. That was the only coup in Nigeria given a tribe, despite the huge involvement of Yoruba Officers and certain Hausa like Hassan Katsina.

Regardless, they called it Igbo coup. Now ask urself with subsequent coup after that, were named after the mastermind and not his percieved ethnic group?

I havent heard an Ikwerre answering Tochukwu. Akelachi yes, but never Tochukwu.

@Topic. Ijaws have this habit of always resorting to violence as a means of protest. It goes against acceptable logic as it aggravates the issue at hand rather than settling it. Its a lose lose situation.

I wish a speedy of resolution of this matter.

ijaw youths have been known to be very lazy and envious of igbos in their mist.

attack on igbos have been a reoccurring event. the lastest one is not different from the previous ones only that, ikwerre born tochukwu was used as an excuse to continue their attack.

the resentment is there and there is no need to sugarcoat it. that is why i prefer a biafra of only igbo(from igbo in benue, river, delta and iganke in edo state), ibibio, efix, ogoni and maybe igalas and idomas. the rest can go to hell. Shame!!!

Nothing conflicting.

I was empathetic and I shared the concern with the people of Bayelsa state and the Ijaw nation BUT I condemn attack on Igbos because I believe that the innocent must be protected and respected and not be attacked for the deed of a single individual.

Whenever calamity happens, people not just empathise with the immediate family but also any group or individuals that may be directly or indirectly affected. This is why people condole with Governors, Government and people when a calamity befall a member of the society/state.

It is a common trend but a misplaced and ineffective empathy.

During military era if the Head of State loses a member of family every governor pays visit, every governor's wife visits the wife of Head of State. That dumb practice continues today even under civilian rule.

Your empathy should stop at the family and the neighbors, no more.

Now to the issue of attack on Igbos, how long since Igbos been living in Bayelsa and how many times in that period have such retaliatory attack occur?

Underneath this episode of attack will be bottled up anger likely from multitudinal past acts of atrocities and crimes that Bayelsans ignored. This Faith issue triggered the pressure of anger held in so long.

People dont just attack spontaneously as we see here, the conscience of humanity does not operate like that. I hate to digress but take Ife example, the insults from Hausa had been ignored for long that they got complacent into thinking they are untouchable. When Yoruba touched upon them ONCE there was outcry.

Igbo has a trademark that is found every where they exist. Few years ago in Gabon the people rose in anger against Nigerians because their children would miss and never found and there is always a Nigerian implicated. Gabonese know how to differentiate Igbo ethnics from rest. They targeted them with attacks.

So the ones referred as "innocent" Igbos owe it a duty to preserve their innocence and survivability by self-policing and expelling from their midst early on the few bad eggs who if not cut off will, with time, earn them bad image, bring disrepute, attract hostility from their hosts and invite attack and death. After Yoruba demanded Fulani self-police its herdsmen rate of fulani atrocities in Yorubaland diminished significantly and then Fayose introduced patrol team on top of that we have not recorded another fatal attack. Self-policing works! Igbos should adopt it and weed out bad elements.

As an Ada Igbo myself, I am really troubled with the way Igbo youth are getting involved in Ogwu Ego. This has nothing to do with tribalism. We Igbos should tell ourselves the bitter truth.

The reactions of the Ijaws shows how envious they are of the Igbos coz the name Tochukwu doesn't necessarily mean the person is Igbo coz Ndoni people of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni also bear such names likewise Etche and Asaba/Delta Igbos.

This is why anytime I hear these Ipobians including these envious Eastern Minority tribes (Ijaws Ikwerre, Urobho etc) in their fools paradise of Biafra I just laff at them coz they don't know how envious these people are.

tell that to ipob that still dont get it....we are not toghether.....its very simple.....

governors can put the south south and south east toghether and make a single region,,,,that much authority governors have...

but, they are not doing it!!!...what makes ipob thinks that they can force people toghether?....

i have said it time without numbers.

the ijaws are the fulani of the delta and the yorubas of the east/.

very lazy, treacherous, expansionist and backwards. you wonder why bayelsa remains the least developed state in the delta despite its huge revenue allocation.

you will only see them claiming other delta groups land once there is oil. all the know is amnesty and oil entitlements . they don't want to work.

the way you guys perpetrate your mischievous behaviours and coat it with sugar is astonishing. your people have no moral right to accuse anybody of ritual killing in this country because 49 out of every 50 reported cases of ritual killing is carried out by your Yoruba people.

"Thirdly, what about if every tribe in Nigeria adopt such strategy? What about if Yoruba people attack Ijaws in their various communities in Ikorodu and other parts of Ogun and Lagos States simply because some misguided Ijaw people took their militancy to a higher realm by engaging in kidnapping, armed robbery, reckless killings and other social vices within Yoruba land? Will it be justified?

Barcanista, you had claimed in one of your earlier posts that those militants and kidnappers in Ikorodu are NOT Ijaws. You even made a report about it. Now you're claiming they are Ijaws, so that you can score a cheap point.
So you don't care about the truth, just what favors you at the specific moment?

I am reading in shame the disgraceful act of some indigent Ijaw youths in Biagbolo, Bayelsa against innocent traders of Igbo extraction under the guise of avenging the death of 17-year-old Faith Omosovu Pius, who was murdered by a certain "Tochukwu" suspected to be of Igbo extraction.

While I'm concerned about the gruesome murder of Faith and the calamity it has brought on the people of Biagbolo, the family of the deceased and the entire Ijaw nation, I can't help but condemn the irresponsible and barbaric actions of some youths in the community in reaction to the sad incident.

Firstly, the youths must understand that even in animal kingdom the action of a an animal cannot be said to be that of the entire group except they assent to it. So why should responsible and law abiding traders be meant to pay for the sin of a particular individual? Why should we take action that even animals will frown at? We are meant to be above every animal, so why should we do what they despise? What concerns the Igbo businessman in his shop with the action of Tochukwu?

Secondly, our people in Bayelsa must realise that any society that does not make herself to be conducive and accommodating to visitors and investors is bound to the ruins. Even the greatest economies in the world open their doors to people with legitimate interest. Why should some Bayelsans take action that discourages not only existing Businesses but also prospective businesses?

Thirdly, what about if every tribe in Nigeria adopt such strategy? What about if Yoruba people attack Ijaws in their various communities in Ikorodu and other parts of Ogun and Lagos States simply because some misguided Ijaw people took their militancy to a higher realm by engaging in kidnapping, armed robbery, reckless killings and other social vices within Yoruba land? Will it be justified?

And fourthly, how are we even sure that the culprit has no Ijaw accomplice? Will they kill all Ijaws and destroy their sources of livelihood if an Ijaw man is found out to be an accomplice?

For the sake of sanity, a crime has been committed, the appropriate thing to do is to ensure that the authorities act on it and justice be done, while working with the Igbo community/traders within the locality to ensure that the culprit and his accomplice(s) are not shielded.

I urge the Police and Bayelsa state government to do all within their powers to ensure that justice is not only done to Miss Faith but also to those Igbo traders that fell victim of the misguided actions of some youths in the community.

In strong terms, I condemn the violence against law abiding Igbo traders and residents in Bayelsa state. I sincerely apologize over the barbaric action of those misguided youths.

Ijaw means truth, the truth we must not compromise. In Peace Faith...

I wouldn't fault your opinions on this issue... But we need to get the facts straight. I live in Yenagoa and I'm Igbo... So I'll be stating the facts as they are... For the singular reason that I'm on ground and have been abreast of this issue.

First of all, the name of the community is Biogbolo and not Biagbolo as you wrote.

1. There was an unfortunate and regrettable incident of the gruesome murder of a young Ijaw girl by a supposed Tochukwu of Igbo extraction.

2. No single Igbo person or property was attacked in Yenagoa.

3. Ijaw youths from Biogbolo community held a peaceful protest demanding for justice for the murdered young lady.

4. Tempers were high but at no time did things get out of hand or turn violent.

5. The media has blown this issue out of proportion for whatever reasons I may not be able to explain. Funny enough I learnt about the incident on this forum. It wasn't such a big deal as being speculated in the media.

6. Ijaw and Igbo communities in Yenagoa live peacefully with each other and there's a very high level of mutual respect for each other between the two groups.

7. Things are currently back to normal. Everybody has gone about their business and the matter has been left for the law enforcement to fish out the criminal so he can face justice.
