What I have learnt from this forum, so far:
1. All conferences are held in the US.
2. All weddings are held in the US.
3. All anniversaries are held in the US.
4. Nigerians don't like to research = someone will still come and ask what documents they need to take to the interview apart from the Nigeria passport, GTB receipt, appointment confirmation page.
5. Nigerians will declare that you are not God or the VO, but that won't stop them from still asking for advise and opinions.
6. The VO's study the US NAIRALAND section.
7. Of recent applicants have been applying, with their relatives in the hope that they would qualify for US visa e.g dad and daughter, husband and grandma = this only works for under 18's not adults.
8. Nigerians will still ask for chances = no one except God knows.
9. I probably should stop generalising. #Okbye

All the best!

You need to stick to one location New York to Texas is like Lagos to Maiduguri. when you get your visa if you like you can go from New york to Oklahoma then move to Chicago no one will stop you. my #2cents grin

KaptainAfrika:
Re-apply and on your own merits as an adult. Taking into consideration, your strong ties. Simple. grin

VisaOfficer:

It's impossible to overstate the value of the truth. Just today, someone was refused for a lie they told 40 years ago -- yes, we have records that go back that far, and farther.

That said, why is there a difference between telling the truth in an interview or on the form? Should there be a lie on the form but not during the interview or vice versa? Why not immediately start telling the truth in both? The sooner you start telling the truth the sooner you can start earning back our trust.

You are still likely to be refused, but at least coming clean has a chance to reset the clock so that eventually you can earn a visa. It might take years and significant ties, but it's possible. But if you hold onto that lie -- and most likely, we know it but won't tell you we know it -- you have almost no chance of getting a visa.

Regards,
VO
Thanks a lot for this answer. However Naija no go hear. People will still prefer to stick to the lies. I wish I can cram this page so I can refer future posters to this page

@kaptainafrica thanks for that summation. I particularly agree with numbers 4,5 and8. Na person go ask opinion. Na person go still tell you say u no be God or the one I learnt this evening "this is naija" . Whatever that means.
No 9. People will be misrepresenting and still saying "it was all God" or " God will do it"
10. Majority of folks that wanna pm expect shady K leg answers on how to hoodwink vos

And if I may ask, do they get denied?

VisaOfficer:

Yes, our Nigerian staff must apply for a visa just like anyone else. If we know them, then they must interview with someone who does not know them. If they know everyone (which is rare), then a Consular manager will interview.

Hello house,

Please If someone was turned back at new york poe, was asked to voluntarily withdraw application, and cancelled the visa. They wrote this on the passport 212 a 7 A i I.

Reason for refused entry was because official work id card or business card was not shown by the visa carrier. This is b2 visa for vacation.

Should the re-application of the visa be done immediately or what is the way out of this.

Where you at the embassy last month April?

Momnee:
hello to the gurus in the house, have been a silent leader on this platform and have learned a lot.
To my question, before I got married to my hubby he has applied for visiting visa 3 times which he was denied, though he went through agents, he later came to terms that this is something he could do himself so we decided to apply together last year with our daughter, but was also denied, he has a good job in d aviation sector while am also a farmer, most of his colleagues in the office get visas easily so he decided to apply again and again making d sixth time still denied so reading through this forum I guess maybe he has been placed on 5years ban which he wasn't told coz he said the VO that interviewed him last said he knows he has a good job but he's sorry he can't issue him a visa.
so he decided to go to south Africa to spend his leave.
now I want to apply with our daughter without him to visit my bro in-law coz he wants to celebrate his 10th year wedding anniversary which he invited us but my hubby said he doesn't want to go and still be denied, now my question is will his been denied everytime affect us myself and daughter since we have applied with him before and what are our chances?

I'm not sure if that's the reason he was refused entry into the U.S meanwhile can you share the Embassy and POE transcript... I'm sure there's a massive discrepancy in both interviews.
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by KaptainAfrika: 5:25pm On May 25, 2017
I can boldly say no one knows. Apply for another visa interview and you might find out why that happened. Cheers.

I fear there would be greater refusals, if TOEFL is made compulsory for US VISA INTERVIEWS.

Hello the good people in the house. I have collected my passport today and i want to proceed in filling the DS-160 online form. Someone just told me that i should involve agent rather than filling it myself. Pls should i fill the form myself?

Again, what am going for is going to take place in June 22nd.

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by olami19: 3:28pm On May 26, 2017
Good day to the gurus in the house, I have a question bothering my mind, year 2007 an agent introduced me to a lady who won a visa lottery, he got my passport photograph, and some of my information which was sent to Kentucky so as to change her(the winner of the lottery) status to married. We were invited for an interview but I eventually pull out of the whole Thing cos the agent was asking for alot of money. I later got to know that the lady that won the lottery dint appear for the interview cos she doesn't have the $750 for visa fee. WHAT has being bothering me is that can this singular act (the matching I mean and information at USA embassy) stand in my way now. I was never at any point appear at the embassy for fingerprints or anything during the visa lottery stuff. Am now married and I want to travel with my family. I need your advice plss
