Go there in the company of a lawyer or anybody as a witness, they cannot harm you. You reported in the first instance because you do no want to encourage corruption, you should show the will to see through your conviction that corruption should not be encouraged.

Drop money your folks will use to bail you if you decide to go....because the allegations against you will be longer than River Niger.

Is there a way of the officer that took the bribe tracing you?
Assuming you reside in Edo and met the officer in delta then chances of tracing you will be reduced.
Cos he will be disciplined and he may come for reprisal.

Again, what if he denies taking anything from u?

Otherwise go with maybe a lawyer and nothing will happen.
The senior officers are more refined.

Op, go there at your own peril. They have arranged a local pistol that will be used against you. Run far away from that station. Tweet the ACP again and thank him for his kind gesture but you can't come because you want to avoid stories that touch. Send him an account to pay in the money if he is really serious about it.

There's no Nigerian policeman that values human life.

Bro...it's risky.... you don't really know who sent you the text. For one...call the # from a 'public' phone and ask for 'Officer (any name )'..../wrong #/...this is (give a name) CEO of Skype Bank... who am I speaking with?/ ...he'll give his real name. Hang up. You'll get a better idea if you're been set up.
After this...reply the text.... let them know you work offshore and will not be back until September...request a photo of the officer via txt msg and you will be able to confirm.

Coward that is who you are. You keep branding Nigeria in different names yet you encourage him to cowardly run away from a chance to correct a long overdue police misconduct.

If u don't go, neva in ur life point an accusing finger on the police because u ve failed in helping sanitize the system.

Why they want u to come is because there would be an "Identification Prade" to be sure ur case in genuine.
Giving the names of the officer does not solve anything if u've had of the word called MALICE, therefore be present on that day to help sanitize the system.

Do the remaining... tell them to send pictures and you can identify... if you must go to the station, go with someone and introduce the person as your lawyer.... it doesnt have to be an actual lawyer

Nope. Involve a real lawyer.

Bro,i really appreciate this comment, thanks.. .Am also thinking of the risk involved.. ..

whatever risk involved is a step towards sanitizing the Nigeria police.

if I were you, I will foolishly create a Facebook/Nairaland/twitter story analyzing every move I make to the station, i will then make sure I update every moment online (to carry people along). I will go with a friend, both of us holding a recording device..

I will be very alert when i get to the station and make sure i refuse to write any statement if I'm ask to do so.

go straight to whoever ask me to come, try to accomplish my mission and get out of there..

Be brave pls..!!

How do we sanitize the system if everyone is scared of doing the right thing.

Y'all saying don't go are bunch of coward. Yet you blame President buhari for your misfortune.

@Op go there with 2 to 3 people point out the police offic3rs and get them dismissed.

My brother, u have to remember the purpose for which you made the report-to sanitise the system. They have a way of arranging the identification parade in such a way that you can only see the officers on parade but they cannot see you.
You can also go with your lawyer and a good friend or relation to calm your nerves.
To the best of my knowledge, you have nothing to worry about since it's now a public issue.

As long as Op has nothing to hide, then how can he be harmed or framed? Enough is enough for this bloody paramilitary.

You reported the case, so go and prove your case. How would they take future cases serious when you refused to appear before them. If you are telling the truth, you should not be afraid of appearing before them. The truth is that you should be arrested, should you refuse to appear before them.
