Manchester United are set to appoint Javier Ribalta in a leading position involving player recruitment after he left his role as the head of scouting at Juventus.

Ribalta, who has previously worked at Liverpool during Rafa Benitez’s reign, led Juve’s scouting network for five years and has been credited as one of the key figures behind their deals for Paul Pogba, Paulo Dybala, Alex Sandro and Dani Alves.

The 36-year-old was also responsible for the signing of Alvaro Morata, one of Manchester United’s key targets this summer, and personally helped the Spain striker settle in Italy before he was sold back to Real Madrid for a profit last year

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Ribalta will have a ‘significant role’ in United’s transfer business and will oversee which players are targeted alongside Jose Mourinho and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

Or maybe Rojo? And both are currently not available. We will be making a mistake not signing a cover for that position this transfer window.

True. Poaching is one thing these second tier clubs can't do without. Anyway, they can always flood in their academy players once again.

I don't think we can sign Mbappe though but if I were him, I would also leave if the top players in the team happened to leave for other clubs unless Monaco board keeps them or brings in some quality players as replacements.

Darmian lost his confidence. That's why he's not there anymore. Valencia earned his spot in the team because there's no one better, and I believe we can do better. This doesn't belittle his perceived contributions to the team, though.

Our play from the wings (RB, LB, RWF, LWF) have been murdered since van Gaal came on board (God curse that man). Remember the combo of Evans+Giggs or Ronaldo? That's what we should be looking for, not someone who gets stuck and goes into autopilot when accosted by an opponent.

no right back in the PL can displace Av25 in dis current united team, ffs he alone has been manning that right flank consistently for 2seasons now .

I once addressed this left back conundrum with doc sometime around April this year! Shaw may be impressing behind the scenes and he was a club record investment so maybe that is why the club is still being patient! There is a young english boy called Ryan sessegnon that did big things at fulham last season while simultaneously doing things with the england under 21's....he recently rejected liverpool so a move for him is guaranteed to succeed! That boy is 17 but he plays like a 35 year old! He can cross, dribble, pass, shoot, is deceptively strong and scores goals! That lad can even bench shaw If not he would be a perfect option from the bench! Common sense dictates that he should join a team where he would be a starter but I'm sure if that nigga joins united he would Become a starter! My dream would be seeing him and dembele combining from both 3 and 11.....I have brought a few of his scouted videos here in the past and I actually watched a lot of fulhams games last season because of him! He would not even cost more than £5m!

Bear it in mind Valencia turns 32 next two months. we need a replacement ASAP

Heard we're after Matic.. We had better not sign that sluggish toad. Is it that Mourinho didn't see Oriol Romeu performance against us or what? Or the fact that he's been fantastic throughout last season and was Southampton best player?

Oriol is highly technical, can evade press, two footed, can pass between the lines in the midfield and has got good defensive skill. Not to mention that he's tall, physical and he's quite good in the air. What's not to like? Are we forgetting his one man midfield performance against Liverpool? In fact, he was a one-man midfield player for Southampton throughout last season. As a matter of fact, they always loose their shape without him.
