Though very important, a good GRE score isn't all that gets one funding. I had 315; 107; 4.0+ and still didn't get funding. I guess what I'm trying to say in effect is that choice of school and program are as important as GRE scores. I know of folks with lower GRE scores and better admission package. Future applicants should please consider every aspect of the application holistically if funding is a must.

Pls how do I pay SEVIS fee in the US and get an instant confirmation order. Heard money order takes a longer time.

WU is the best and fastest because MO takes between 3-7 working days approximately

Let's not forget that the funding strength of the school in question matters. If the school has enough, they can give more or to more students. Some schools are known to give full ride wella, while others rarely give.

If you apply to the school that rarely gives, you stand very little chance, even with your scores. Or to competitive schools, tougher here because many of the students have great profiles too.

I got financial aid (not full) from Columbia but others in same school with higher scores didnt. I simply wrote to the school for aid. These things are not always straight forward. A professor in this school even told me that having a high score alone is not a criterion for funding, that its a holistic thing.

Yes, having great scores are better. That alone, sometimes, might not get you (full) funding.

Yes! Just go with the coupon and $210. You'll be given a form to fill and that's it.

Can someone please recommend graduate schools still accepting application for Fall 2017 and with at least 50% chance of funding.
UG GPA: 4.0
MSc GPA: 3.4
GRE: 153/157/4.0 (V/Q/AW)
Intended Programme: PhD Mechanical/Materials Engineering.
I've checked MUST stats on gradcafe for my programme, no one claimed to have ever received funding. Your kind suggestions please.

Hey Guys, his profile is 98% like mine Below..

And i got full funding..... For PhD elect/elect
In a decent school...(depends on what you want sha...)

I had...
UG GPA: 4.08/5
MSc GPA: 3.36/4 ( wes icalculator)
GRE: 155/157/3.5 (V/Q/AW)

Pls note Bro your choice of schools was probably the problem.... Maybe they were way to high and competitive for your profile....

Aside that Elect/Elect is more competitive than Mechanical/Materials Option. So funding should have being easier..
Maybe you should add safe schools to your next list just to see...

Gradcafe is small Bro..
Head to physicsgre and mathematicsgre sites and see humbling profiles for IVYs to help humble your Dreams...

UT Austin is ok. they do give funding especially for PhD.
I applied last time(Msc) and was given just 4160 dollars had to ditch it because it was not enough, but my friend was given full funding for PhD last year.

How did GRE fall his hand?

Many factors come into play for funding.

I completely understand, with her GPA I believe she can make a better score with more preparation. Work, family, church activities (if she's a Christian), lack of good preparation materials because they cost good are not just available, high cost and snail speed data, PHCN - no power on laptop to read or practice tests, noise from neighbour - worst if your neighbours are CAC churches with services 24/7 or Redeem using public address systems (loud speakers) for night vigils, the list is endless.
What I will suggest however is for her to come to this thread and read from people's experiences. A good place to start is https://www.nairaland.com/1832477/how-achieve-high-scores-gre/249#1832477.7983

Thanks bro. She will work on it.

Thanks boss, any comment on Stevens institute of technology? I see it as a safe school.

I would also appreciate more suggestions on safe schools that give their masters students full funding.

UT Austin is very generous to their PhD students, really ambivalent about d PhD thingy. tanx zendmann

good day Nairaland peeps i was denied my student visa on thursday 22nd of june in lagos by the guy in window 4 around 8 am , the guy was just giving out refusals like someone giving kids candy . i believe i answered all the questions asked by the VO properly but i was refused for reasons best known to him .

i got an admission to study master's in game design at full sail university in florida and it's a nationally accredited private university . i wrote TOEFL and i studied computer science for my bachelor's degree , i intend to apply again for an interview at the embassy .

my questions are do i stand a chance ? is the school credible enough for a student visa ?

i am 30 years old , single but i have ties to my country through work ( i work with Bet9ja and KC gaming networks ) and i have also traveled out of the country on 4 different occasions , i even went to south Africa this February .

do i still stand a chance this time around ? i want people's candid opinion
