Lol...
Nigerian youths are the bigger part of the problem...
Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia and Egypt sanctioned Qatar for suspecting it of funding terrorist element.
Don't just rush to forums to comment without factfiles. .
Boko Haram operate only in the north targeting mostly Muslims.

We, the youths, need to begin to deliberate on these rare hot points that are swept under the carpet but define lots of political game play and activities.

In fact, I shall open another thread tomorrow to discuss the Residency Permit Card to be issued by the Kaduna state governor, El-RUfai...you can follow my moniker for that...

...but before then, let us please, deliberate on this

The most important question is "what are we restructuring?"

People use the term restructuring . But ask them what they would like restructured and they would be stumped.

The man was thinking along his own definition of restructuring. Thinking if the North had its own resources or army it would be better equipped to face BH.

What an Irony? When the reason we have such high resources is the cumulative net worth of all Nigeria. .......

My limited POV though

But bros, i think you should be learned enough to decode that statement now. What the statement simply meant was that "boko haram is a more complex issue to be worried about than restructuring." In other words, he meant Northerners were more afraid of Boko Haram than Restructuring.

It's a pity we have so many intentionally ignorant and bigoted fellows on this platform tho.

The South South has MEND and Niger-Delta Avengers
The South East has IPOB and MASSOB.

You interpreted his response based on your own pre-concieved opinion.

He simply means the scourge of boko haram which is reality, is more scary that the unknown fear of the consequences of restructuring.

No matter how you dice it, boko haram terror has more Northern and Muslim casualties than Southerners who are resident in the North.

The Northern leadership condoned it when they felt they would use it as a bargaining chip, only for it to spiral out of control and engulfed their own abode. Same way South East politicians condoned IPOB activities, hoping when it turns to a bargaining chip, they would be prepared to cash in on the political returns thereof, like the SouthSouth politicians did with militancy. However, what the SouthEast politicians did not count on was the Kaduna declaration, that has suddenly made all the blind and deaf politicians and elders from the SouthEast to begin to caution the utterances and activities of IPOB.

They actually tried to use the nuisance created by IPOB as a bargaining chip to get the South East Development Commission, it failed miserably.

OP you see your life?

You have allowed prejudice become your default setting.

What that man said in essence is that the North also is in a bad situation and cannot therefore stand against anything that improves the situation of Nigerians and Nigeria.

Wondering why you are surprised,if you are a southerner who has lived in the North ,you will understand the import of what he said.

A certain M. Buhari once said that an attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the North.

Do you understand now or do i translate it further?

stop being mischievous. it was when the army was killing people indiscriminately and remember a whole village(Baga and Bama) was raised to the ground by the military which led the amnesty International to cry foul. he meant they were killing innocent people in the north in the guise of boko haram. we should be objective in our comments.

This is not meant to incite, but to spur our minds to articulate the thought that lie therein.

I was part of the viewing audience of the Kakaaki, The African Voice anchored by both Saliamatu Ibrahim and Adora Onyechere, on African Independent Television, AIT, yesterday, July 4.

Since the programme had a talking point drafted to address the quagmire the country is gradually sliding into, I showed interest.

I had relaxed to follow the discussion led by the two anchors and three invited discussants, two Elder-statesmen from the North and one Professor of Banking and Finance from Michael Okpara University. unfortunately the power was interrupted.

By the time the power was restored, the programme had neared conclusion.

At the time, Saliamatu threw a question to one of the Northern Elders and I quote"...some say the North is afraid of Restructuring. Why is the North afraid of Restructuring?

He answered "...north what!...how can we be afraid of restructuring when we have Boko Haram?"

I have ever since sought to give this proper interpretation, but the more I try, the deeper I was thrown into limbo as to reconciling the sensitivity of the speech. And my wonder has been, was it a slip of tongue? Or an expression of reality.

Even Saliamatu sort of wore a countenance that looked bemoaned by the comment and wanted to seek further clarification before she was signaled to round-off.

My intent is to bring this to fore. I know many tuned into the programme and did hear the comment. And those who didn't could make use of AIT 'a social media platforms to verify.

Am I the only one who was struck by that statement? Or am I being over sensitive with a mindset conditioned by the current political happenings?

Let us discuss this Nigerians!!

It is really annoying to see the foolish extent to which some people are taking this statement and cropping up what is not. The man meant they have boko haram insurgence that scares them and restructuring is not a fear. He simply aid that trying to sprinkle humour in the discussion .

We sha will use our own hand to distroy this nation and those who can flee will, those who cant .... Life is short and time is ticking stop wasting yours on baseless talks.

In my view the statement could mean two things:
When we have boko haram to fight against or
When we have boko haram to fight for the north.
Which ever one, the worst thing that can happen to any people is to co-habit with Hausa/Fulanis in one country (most especially the Fulanis)

I choose to think positive,I go with the former.

The second can't be because the boko haram are actually killing the northerners.

OP, only in Nigeria would we seek to ascribe ulterior motives to every statement. We imagine scorpions under mats yet yo be trod on.

Like someone mentioned, pre-conception played a part in your interpretation and you goofed by rushing here with your 'news'.

I hope you've ignored the doom-mongers and keyboard warriors and focused on the sensible explanation given that it was an innocent statemen, suggesting the Boki Haram menace is a far heavier cross to bear than anything you can throw at the North. Understandable too.

Thread should die a gentle death but if it gets to FP, I'll leave this platform. Fully convinced it was set up with an ulterior motive to bring instability to the country and set us up for bloodshed ... maybe sha, only popping in and out of the property section once in a while until I complete my building project.

You perfectly well knew what you were doing which is why you emboldened ..

He answered "...north what!...how can we be afraid of restructuring when we have Boko Haram?"

Any neutral dealer with an ounce of perceptive intelligence would conclude that it was an innocent statement and no need for ...

I have ever since sought to give this proper interpretation, but the more I try, the deeper I was thrown into limbo as to reconciling the sensitivity of the speech. And my wonder has been, was it a slip of tongue? Or an expression of reality.

You are perfectly aware about what febrile environment for war-mongers and bigots this platform is. What is your prize? Front Page? It could also be bloodshed, I tell you.

Apologies if this sounds unduly harsh. I have little patience for those that seek to destroy our country, and their (innocent or not so innocent) enablers. We owe it a duty to our children to be particularly careful and employ every bit of our education and training to beat the negative mongers in these testing times. Or, not to leave them open goals to waltz through.

If you are reffering to the man that claimed to have 19 children ,then i too i was also dumbfounded when i heard it from radio...infact that statement shook me but i tried to view the positive side of it.

Although alot of what he said made sence especially when he talked about changing the presidential system of govt which is already costing nigerians too much and centralizing power with one person alone..

That made alot of sence to me....

Presidential system is not for nigeria
