my brother, I'm not really understanding.. But since Hayward is such a good defender he'll make up for Bradley's absence.. Morris would help also. Maybe

Jeff green! About bloody time, even though it's not ideal it's better than nothing.

BTW People are sleeping or Tavares, I believe he's going to be a revelation next season. So confident that I'm already praying we trade TT not Kevin love.
Re: The NBA Begins by SmooshCHN: 8:30am On Jul 08, 2017
Lakers traded D'angelo Russell.. And drafted Lonzo cos he's a better leader and all that money they gave to someone who hasn't proved himself. 1/11 on 3s, 2/15FGs.

I think there should be genuine concern if you are Laker hoping Lonzo would dominate the league. The problem here is his shooting mechanics, it slow and the position is awkward and makes it easy for defenders to block the ball or pressure a miss. He would almost need an uncontested chance to knock a three.

No question he is a very good passer especially in transition, as he is quick to move the ball up the court with deep passing, however, if the only skill you are bringing to the NBA is passing then you may have a very short career. Ask Rondo, who has similar skills as Lonzo, and ended up not developing a jumper with his awkward mechanics.

Jason Kidd entered the league without a jumper and today is top 5 all time three point shooter, the same goes for CP3 who got better with shooting after he was drafted into the league. so,it's doable.

I watched Lonzo in college and I dare say he is not better than D'Angelo Russell. Lonzo would have to overhaul his shot mechanics, develop a mid range game and develop some power under his shot. Folks in the NBA keep saying he is a good defender and I wonder if they meant potentially good defender because of his wing span.

If there is a player the Lakers should be pumped about, it is definetly B. Ingram. Kid may be the second coming of KD if he stays disciplined through development. He has good handles, can pass, shoot, attacks the rim and has that almost 6'8 wing span for defense. He resurrected his play during the last quarter of last season and seems to have gotten better. He would definitely need some confidence, playing time to believe in himself, and develop some more muscle to withstand the rigors of the game.

I can't dispute any of what you have typed because I'm just getting into the game of Basketball.

But to say letting go of a former Laker player for Lonzo was a mistake after just one game.

Or slating Lonzo for not proving himself in his first game in a Laker shirt.

isn't that a bit too premature?

It would have been premature if this was my first time to ever watch him play basketball. The problems I raised are issues witnessed during his only season with UCLA. The player in comparison (Russell) is not the second coming of Magic neither is Lonzo based on their skill set. If anything Russell has the mechanics to expand his skill set with lesser time in comparison to Lonzo.

Russell was a terrific passer in Ohio State, but he also had the jumper and perimeter shooting, and he brought it to the NBA. The only reason he is not a Laker is that he is not a "leader" on the court, which is quite baffling if you compare him to Lonzo.

Also, remember the Lakers are competing in the dreaded western conference where offense is prioritized, your point guard has to be a scoring point guard to stand any chance of making the postseason. Take a look at all the point guards in the top teams from the WC last season, they were all scoring point guards.

Don't get me wrong, Lonzo is a good player, however, his skill sets are limited, he has to overhaul his mechanics to thrive and become the projected superstar the Lakers hope for.

Else he would end up like my guy Rondo, and soon Rubio.

Honestly, no... However, It came down to him or Jay Crowder who is not out of the waters yet. This was a decision that was inevitable, considering the Hayward trade. Over the past 2 seasons, Bradley developed into an elite 2way player for us. He is due for a max contract next year, and with Smart, and Rozier Ainge thought it was best to move him.

Bradley knows we love him. He would always bleed green, who knows, he may cycle around in the future.

Baba,

I think you got it wrong on both fronts. Bradley is ranked top 3-5 defender in the NBA, and he was our best ball defender, especially in 1/1 situations. Opponents dreaded him because he played clean defense without fouling, he moves his feet so fast and is intelligent with his hands.

Also, his offense improved over the past two seasons and when you look at the numbers he was our second scorer when healthy and I think that is why Crowder gets sticks from a section of the crowd. Crowder plays with a lot of emotion and energy, however, he does not score enough to lock down the small forward position.

Hayward is an absolute upgrade to our offense which sticks sometimes, especially when we have to rely on high volume three points attempt. Another positive for the Hayward trade is how it positively impacts BIG AL. During the postseason, BIG AL proved his worth to his critics. He needs a jump shooter that would utilize the space he provides on the court.

I would definitely miss Bradley, however, he deserves his pay day and sadly, we can't pay him and IT next year.

Anyway, somebody in the East shoulda done what Wolves are doing. Wizards or Bucks for example

My own is for Melo to join rockets. I can't stay in a team that paid $143 million for Joakim Noah and Tim Hardaway. Impossicant
