Capital no, do not buy your ticket until you have your visa at hand.
sure you can request for 6 months

fpeter:
House please, is it advisable to buy a return ticket before applying for a UK visa? And can i apply for 6months even though i am due for 5yrs renewal?

Thanks.

Mumsi applied for a visiting visa did. Biometrics on the 22nd of June, application was received in Sheffield on the 5th. Just got this mail now....
Thank you for applying for a UK visa. Your visa application remains under consideration.

We have previously communicated our customer service target for non-settlement applications as 15 working days. Unfortunately, we will be unable to decide your application within our customer service target. We apologise for any inconvenience that this might cause.

We are continuing to work on your application and aim to make a decision as soon as possible over the coming days.

We will write to you again if there is any change to this. Please do not attend the Visa Application Centre until you have been advised that your application has been decided and that your passport is ready for collection.

Quite worrisome!

There have been applicants who got emails from both UKVI and TLS that a decision had been made with a follow up email about passport being for collection. There are also others whose applications were decided but they did not get any emails and they went to pick up their passports without getting emails. Your case is not exclusive.

It is the GWF**** number generated when you made your online application. However that ref no can only be recognised when a decision has been made on your application.

Somebody to please for God's sake respond to this question. Please n please.
xto4:
I am really worried because am supposed to travel on the 5th of July to return on the 12th of July just taking a week out of my leave vacation now by Monday it will be 10th of July.. Will they still considered the fact that my intended date and period is almost over? Although even after my intended period I will still have more than 2 weeks remaining for my vacation as stated in my leave letter and letter to the embassy, hope they will consider that even if my intended date of travel has passed and intended period is almost over that won't be a problem? Ekpotek, Justwise etc what to do Na?

You can still get the visa even if your proposed travel date and intention for travel have passed. That would not be a yardstick for denying the visa application.
