The fact here is that a Senator (without federal monthly allocation) is performing better than the executive Governor of Kogi State. I'm not a fan of Dino, but the facts are very clear to us that a non-performing governor is spending state funds to carry out a moribund recall process. He would do better to use the money to build and renovate schools in his state.

They deserve better from their governors.


Senators everywhere are elected to make laws... but when such laws are left unimplemented by the executives, they are left with no choice than provide "eye service infrastructures" like bicycles, tricycles, jollof rice, motorcycles, etc. Other senators engage in projects like this in order to "outshine" the governor, not necessarily because they have the interests of the people at heart.

It is not the responsibility of any Senator in any part of the universe to build schools, roads, skyscrapers, etc. Unfortunately, some Nigerians blame the wrong people for their misfortunes. Gov. Yahaya Bello receives Kogi state allocation on a monthly basis, he's to blame for any infrastructural deficit in the state.

The real questions here should be how much was spent for this eyesore of a project and would he allow any of his wards attend such 'school'? Our politicians really lack expertise

Constituency projects are is never a personally funded project it is a project inserted into the national budget by a Senator/Rep. Those two projects will cost hundreds of million each. If the Federal government is very serious about fight against corruption this enough grand to prosecute any dubious and fraudulent politician. Rep members were prosecuted in the past because of constituency projects. RECALL is a good weapon in the hands of the electorates.

Bring N50m let me build 30 Classrooms of worldclass standards that will directly benefit thousands of children of those who voted for you. I will complete them in 2 months.
It doesn't cost so much to impact the grassroots.

This project is one of classical examples of corruption perpetrated by federal legislators in Nigeria

Did anyone notice "FCT/2016" as part of the description on the building?

The project actually has nothing to do with recall process and I was surprised when Dino was accused of not doing anything in his constituency even though Daily Trust newspaper has been shouting about this case since 2016.

In 2016 budget of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dino Melaye as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Federal Capital forced the Minister of the FCT to include some multi-million naira projects to be sited in his senatorial district in Kogi state even though his constituency is not a part of FCT. It actually caused some tension among Abuja indigenous people who felt they were short-changed at the time.

It is one of the projects that FCT has just completed. There are still many more.
