Haba! The city of Chicago has crime in some specific areas, namely the south side and West side. And even that, majority of these crimes happen only in certain neighborhoods of these areas. Chicago, as a city, is one of the best BIG cities to live in in the US. I am in the suburb of Chicago downtown about 54 miles (86 kilometers) from downtown Chicago. However, I commute downtown for work by train. And I will not live in any other US city. As eh 3rd largest city in the US, tons of of companies have their Corporate headquarters here. There is no US major city that does not have its own crime problems. Agreed -There were a couple of years there where Chicago was the leader. However, let's not use that one negative news to paint such a beautiful city. I can tell you that a good majority of the Nigerians (Chicago is one of the US cities with the most Nigerians) that live here have very positive things to say.

1. People in the west get paid way more and CONSISTANTLY than people in Nigeria. You factor in cost of living, and rent is not as bad as you're making it seem to be.

2. Don't break the laws and you won't have any criminal issue. Child support is necessary sometimes. I can't believe the system here makes men financially responsible for their child.

3. Each region/state is different when it comes to child care. In my province it depends on your yearly salary, while in Quebec for example daycare costs 10 Canadian dollars per day. Though they pay a lot more taxes there.

4. When you live in one if not the most developed nations in the world, their really isn't a desire to live anywhere else. Why would I go from a Bentley to a Honda ? I think that's more the issue than wealth.

5. Stop it. Mostly the elites or very well off can travel abroad. Because very few travel outside of Nigeria now you're making it seem like anyone there can pick up their bag, get a visa, and spend 1200 USD on a plane ticket. A country where most make 1 USD per day ? That's 365 USD per year.

6. I make 100K per year. I live a very comfortable life and have money in the bank. If you're in the west and make 100k per year and you're living pay to pay, you're living above your means. The cost of living is cheaper in naija ? I disagree. You literally have to pay for everything including unplanned expenses out your pocket. Gen,Fuel,children school, transport, etc.

What the hell will make me rent 2bedroom apartment when I don't have a wife yet? I will settle with a studio apartment that contain kitchen, bathroom and toilet commonly known as self contain here in Nigeria. Even if I have a wife, it's 1 bedroom apartment I will rent cuz abroad rooms are spacious and wider. What will make me to go on renting 3 bedrooms flat? na 3 body I get ni?

That's the point u just made. Those complaining of not being able to save abroad and they are fully working are those who want to form big men by. renting 4bedrooms for themselves. Everything in life is about planning. I pray ma no fit save if am earning even 50k dollars. No eating out cuz that will consume more money than preparing your own food at home. There is 24 hours light so one can always store cooked food in the fridge. At least I won't be spending more than $200 on food per month. And somebody will be putting fear in our body that one can't save in abroad. Smartmug was just trying to scared those nurturing the plan of travelling abroad and boom u came to save us from such discouraging assertions.

Bro, quick advise the US has several types of visa categories. However, only a few give permission to work. The normal B1/B2 visa is a travel visa and does not give permission to work. You may want to rethink your intentions unless you wanna continue doing unskilled jobs for a long while.

Who informed her she will need PTA of $1000. If that's correct, then she just has to wait till she can get the required amount.
