I have not read it from cover to cover, but have a good understanding of the ideology of both the old and the new testaments. To the jews who are the authors of the old testament, God is just a universal consciousness which could be positive or negative...they understood what was important for man, and how man should relate with fellow men and with nature...they saw death as an enemy of God and man..and told this story using symbols and numbers..
They long for a Messiah who will deliver them from their enemies who was always on their gate....and who will usher in an era of peace..where sword will be beaten into plough shares and man will learn of war no more....this has not happened so it is safe to conclude that he has not come...the Jewish concept of a Messiah is a leader, not a demi God...David, solomon, cyrus,josiah..where all Messiah..he is coming to usher in an era of peace not to be worshipped..
The Jews understand that God is not a MAN or a human being. Num.19:23, the second of the 10 commandment forbade them from making or creating God in the image of anything in heaven or on earth or the waters below the earth..but the Romans and greeks has created a God in the image of a man, something that is found on earth(jesus) this is idolatory and punishable by death...
The devil of the old testament is under the control of God almighty and acts only with the expressed permission from God, as portrayed in the story of Job...God is understood to be in control of everything both good and evil. Isiah 45:7, but in the new testament the devil is made a dual opposite of God, with a power and will outside of his creator..i find this laughable and a mockery against the almighty creator..as I don't think there is something God created that he cannot control...just nothing..

If you ask me, I think the Jewish ideology makes more and better sense...it is also what we believed before the slave masters came. Esu or Ekwensu was never thought of as a rival to Eledumare or Chukwu....
