IR AAM from Mectron brazil

a darter (i thought it was South African @MikeCZA )

MAA1B interesting control surface on the fore section

MAA1
Sorry I had a little brain fart moment there, I mistook the MAR-1 Anti radiation bomb for the a darter AAM.

When you asked if NAF was getting it I automatically thought it was the A darter because apparently PAF is interested in that missile also, might be integrated on the JF17

some old info regarding work on smart munitions by drdo

DRDO has previously successfully demonstrated several technologies for the development of Smart Munitions to defeat enemy armour from its vulnerable top.

These technologies include:
1.Explosively Formed Projectile (EFP)—A copper liner serving as antenna for the sensor in the search mode and forming a single projectile in the attack mode.

2.Detonator Arming Safety Device for activating EFP

3.Efficient capsule ejection system

4.Highly compact MMW sensor

5.Rotatoil parachute for stabilising the sub-munition and scanning the ground target

The technology has been validated for 120 mm Mortar.

The system can be suitably developed for launching from various types of platforms.

It can also be adopted for platforms like High Calibre Howitzer/Field Guns, multibarrel rocket systems, tactical missile and aircraft carrier bombs.

now these technologies have matured/progressed to the point that drdo has 6 types of new smart munitions under development/testing.

FOG-MPM, brazil interesting shocked

in testing stage, the new generation FOG-MPM (Fiber Optics Guided Multi Purpose Missile), uses fiber optics to permit the operator, without a line of sight to the enemy, to guide the missile to the acquisition and destruction of the target. The use of fiber optics for guidance also makes the missile immune to enemy ECM (Electronic Counter Measures). With the present range of up to 20 kilometers, and a possibility to be further extended to over 100 kilometers, the FOG-MPM may also to be employed as an additional ammunition for the ASTROS II System. Today its employment is against tanks, helicopters and fortifications.

I remember when Naf had an interest in this bird, the then CAS was impressed by is network Data sharing capability.

The growth rate of Turkish defense industry is something else, a lot of intelligent prior facilitating TOT agreements and of course government support.

NATO effect grin

all their defence companies r heavily tied to western arms companies through TOT / JV

that is why ergoden buying S400 makes me think aloud how the hell r u going to integrate it to ur national air defence grid which is NATO standard compliant only

changes necessary will be very expensive

where is kikuyu1 by the way

it is the integrated tungsten penetrator and radar antenna of the Miniature Hit-to-Kill interceptor shocked shocked shocked

The MHTK interceptor was designed to be small in size while retaining the range, lethality and reliability of other Hit-to-Kill interceptors. MHTK is just over two feet (61 cm) in length and weighs five pounds (2.2 kg) at launch. The compact footprint of the MHTK allows multiple rounds to be packaged in a single MML tube.

The missile contains no active warhead, but instead uses kinetic energy to take out a target. launcher has fifteen tubes, with a load out of sixty MHTK missiles

what has core technology got to do with accidents/human error/QC issues.

why do planes crash, why do tanks break down ,why guns jam or misfire ?

if u have core technology what u gain is ownership ie IPR rights then u can do what u want like modify / sell etc without having to ask for permission every time from the OEM.

most western MBT 120mm smooth main gun is licence built or bought from rheinmetal, but some county may want to make knock-off,and resell to a third county without the original IPR.south korea K-2 is an example.kh-179 is just another.

eg :electroslag remelting is one of the core technology in making cannon
