Giving my baby pap n cereal is war but she loves normal adult food,so I prepare to her texture e.g she loves potato ,carrot and chicken cooked and mashed together, swallow(amala, plantain n rice flour) with crayfish fortified ewedu/okro, Apple and banana puree mixed or separate, avocado, egg york, beans(without back) n basically anything... so u can try normal adult food just blend/mash for her age.

Afternoon house.
Pls, I need suggestions as what to be giving my lo.
She is 7month now, but all she takes is pap. Just PAP.
I tried mixing the pap with nan2, but I just wasted my money, lo refused it .
I was advised to give cerelac, lo didn't take it either, in fact she vomitted the all her stomach yesterday.
I gave her custard, she took it a lil, she really do not like it as much as pap.
I really wanna start giving her varieties but I'm short of options.
What is notice is DT creamy food irritates her somehow (I might be wrong), but the face she makes anytime I mix baby milk with her pap or custard is like YUCK! .
I would have tried tom-brown for her, but we don't take "JERO" ( I don't know if it's millet or guineacorn) in our house.
Pls house, I need ideas abt what and what to grind together to start feeding her with that won't include "jero" and will Also give her all the vitamins she needs.
And I just got a juicer, what kinda fruit juice should I start giving her and how often should I start juicing fruits for her.
Thanks.

I used bottled water till he got to 12months then I started with tap or pure water, whichever was accessible.
[s]But with this recession, I don't think I will try that method with this bun sha[/s] grin. The idea is to give good and hygienic water. Hth.
Thanks. Her father insists I boil bottled water. I just wanted to know if that's a thing. Thanks to everyone else that replied me

I boil tap water and put in the flask.. Mbok Giddyperson help me out here.. My baby started with SMA gold the day she was born cos I had not started milking on the first day.. She continued taking the formula till 8days ago when she started spitting it out to concentrate on breast milk.. Plz I want to try another formula, am thinking she just doesn't like the SMA anymore.

NB: She's 2weeks and three day today
my baby had to take formula (NAN1) for a few weeks cuz breastmilk supply was poor, she started rejecting formula as soon as I started breastfeeding well. Many babies do this, I don't think it's because of the kind of family. If you milk supply has improved and you can do it, maybe you should switch to exclusive breastfeeding, if not don't let her defeat you, give someone else to feed her too.

So glad to read all the wonderful advice here from all the mommas in the house; though am a father with a 3 weeks old baby, i always look foward to this page to read and pass the wonderful info to my wifey. Please this is our worry;
My baby suddenly started having rashes on her forehead, dosctor says we should not cover her too much because shes big (4.2 at birth) and we heed that advice. My wife suddenly develop cold/cough/catarrh and i was scared that she will pass it on to our baby, took mum to hospital and shes getting better but within 48 hours, baby started having running nose; its so painful to see her struggle with breath. But her appetite is good, shes EBF and she feeds well and poo well( like 4 times a day). My MIL sometimes put her mouth in my babys nose to suck out the mucus sometimes(i dont knw if this is right) and baby feels good for a while b4 she will starting running her nose again, she does not sleep well as before. We only give her Vit C every 3 hour and Panda cold/paracetamol. Rashes due to heat and now catarrh due to cold AT THESAME TIME. Pls advice.
N.B I'm also planning to take her to the hospital on mon or tue, preferably a general hospital because i notice that our private hospital does not have childrens doc(peadetrician).
Pls wetin make we do, am so confuse, this is our first child!

The sucking of the nose is ok. As it removes the phlegm and eases baby for a while. If you are not comfy with MIL sucking nose, you can get an nasal aspirator. Comes in two types, the bulb type and the sucking type.... both in pics below.

Get some olbas for babies and put on her bib it will help ease the congestion. After a bath, rub her chest, sides, back and soles of her feet with some baby grade metholatum. If you dont have this you can mix half robb with half shea butter. To dilute it.

Also you will find that laying her flat on her back will make the congestion worse so if you may find she sleeps better on her bouncer or you can lift the front legs of her crib with a book or something so her head is more elevated.

Please DO NOT use a pillow. You can use a folded blanket.... UNDER.. the head of her mattress.

If at any time you see she may be struggling to breathe ( i.e using plenty energy with excessive chest movements) please take her immediately to the hospital

hope it helps.
Good luck and welcome to parenthood. grin

Well done Dad.
My ds of 6weeks was down with catarrh. I carried him to GH and he was nebulized. I was told to do steam inhalation .
Take off his or her cloth, pour hot water intonation bucket, put a drop of eucalyptus menthol/oil and get someone to cover you and the baby for some few minutes .
It has really worked well. Do it for upto 6 times daily to get effective.
My son is fine now

I agree with other mama. if ur milk supply has improved. plz continue with exclusive. it's too early to change her milk to prevent diarrhea.
in my own case. my milk supply never improved and I had to continue with nan1.and the fact I resumed work after 2months. Lo is 3months plus and when I changed her milk to cow and gate(not the foreign one). her poo texture and frequency changed which caused weight loss.
so my candid advise is once milk supply is good. focus on that and less of formula. but if otherwise. u can try nan1.

Good evening world people.. Plz I need help. My 2weeks old baby girl has some rashes on her neck. She is quit fleshy down there (neck area) .. It hurts her more when the room is hot ( I almost cried with her this afternoon).. My sister recommended ABF3 cream for me to apply on the affected area. I don't know if her skin is ready enough for such creams. Plz if anyone has conquered this situation, Biko help me out here.. Thanking you all in advance
In addition to all the remedies the other mamas have given always make sure you raise the neck up and add palm kernel oil or ori after each bath to serve as barrier between sweet and the neck.

How are u feeling now? Well, my remedy for sore throat is hot water+honey+ ginger+Lipton. 3 times in a day,
Sore throat sometimes is just a sign that the person want to have cough. Also, try throat lozenges like vickys sweet ( baba blue and the lemon type). It will cure it, and avoid cold water for now.

God's healing ma.
I am kinda a little better now sha hubby got the drugs prescribed and I took it but if I don't get much better by morning I will go straight to get all the ingredients for the concosion

Try enque's suggestion but subsequently note that its important to give plenty water once you introduce solids. Nutriben and Nan2 are fine

She can start Pap at 4m,you still have to support with some kind of milk: breastmilk or formula.
It's the additives I'm not so sure of especially ginger.
Heinz cereal is a favorite.
I also like Cerelac.
Gerber also makes a wide range of baby foods.
Be sure to get the one that states the particular age.
I know Heinz has for 4m cos Atinuke started early too with it.

God bless you mama for this wonderful tip. please how do you make the prune juice yourself? i googled it but didn't really understand

Wash and cut the prum or prune into pieces
put into pot and boil to soft(Dont throw the water away please)
blend with blender or food processor.

You can keep in the fridge for 3 days or keep in freezer for 3 months.
